They cannot keep staff. There has not been a physical therapist in over a year. The shuttle driver is constantly changing. They cannot keep maintenance staffed. Don't get me started on the food. The care and satisfaction of the residents have declined immensely since the change to "The Sunrise Corp Way".

This facility can be considered a high-end senior living home. Audience learned the difference between Dementia and Alzheimer and how to live longer etc. The tour and lecture are 5 stars. Since we do not have an actual living experience at this facility, the overall rating, for the time being, is 4 stars until gaining more real-world experience here.

OakView skilled nursing facility is a top-notch location for acute rehab. From the moment you drive…read moreup to the facility, walk into the building and go to your assigned room, you can see the building is very well taken care of and nicely decorated. This is important as it shows their attention to detail. In the room, there is a lovely armoire for every patient to use for their belongings along with a nightstand, hospital bed and tray. The armoire is much nicer and larger than the usual small closet you find in most facilities. The true star of the facility are the employees. The CNA's are always quick to respond and provide you with the service you need. The LVN's who dispense the medication are equally quick to help and all of them have kind words along with words of encouragement for each patient. Unfortunately, I have been in numerous facilities and non of them compare. OakView is fine tuned and runs very smoothly. Administrative staff checks on the patients frequently to make sure all needs are met. Treatment plans are prepared by medical staff. And the social worker is very kind and extremely helpful in taking care of the patient while on the premises but also after they leave OakView. She even called me two days after my release from OakView to check on me and to see if there was any additional needs I had. I was extremely impressed by this as I had never had this happen before. Never was there a social worker that did a third of the work this woman did let alone follow through and show she cared every step of the way. OakView feels like a resort with medical assistance, not a skilled nursing facility. The food is excellent and if it's not to your liking, the chef is willing to prepare something that meets your desires. No other facility I know of does that. If and when I need to be in a skilled nursing facility again, I hope I am blessed to be able to find a room at OakView. I highly recommend it. P.S. They also have an assisted living facility.

The staff was is knowledgable and treated her with genuine respect and tenderness, and they were consistently thoughtful with our family as well. The facility was clean, well-kept, and organized, and communication with us was steady and reliable. I've even told my husband that this is exactly the kind of place I'd hope for myself one day. During my visits with my grandma, I saw how happy and well-cared-for the other residents were--the daily meals, activities, and interactions all felt warm, structured, and intentional. It was the kind of environment that gives you real peace of mind. The level of care they provide is exceptional and they were excellent care partners with my parents.

This was the second place she was in memory care, and there is no comparison. The staff here is so caring and professional. The food is excellent, and was served in a restaurant-like environment before the pandemic. Now it is catered to each room They also hosted a private birthday lunch in one of their small dining rooms for our family and my mother-in-law. Since the pandemic they have done a marvelous job of keeping residents safe. Most of the staff and management have been here a long time, and it's easy to see why.

My five stars go to Sunrise's executive director, Edith Kennedy, and the nursing and admin staff…read more They are exceptional, and I don't use that word a lot. Edith is particularly outstanding because she truly cares and is on her game with details, always wanting feedback (good or bad) to make your loved one's experience the best it can be. Now, with assisted living facilities this can sometimes be like moving a mountain. But, she earnestly tries. She's got your back. However, despite this, we are actually moving my dad to another local facility shortly due to one of Sunrise's bad qualities, horrible in fact, and that is...pricing. Again, to be found at many assisted living facilities but costs at Sunrise are higher than most...and they price differently than most. For example, when you first talk to them they speak of the rent as a flat rate. But it's not. Sunrise charges you a day rate per month. So your cost varies per month based on days of the month. The rent is better in February, September, April, June and November. But the other seven months with 31 days...all higher. And surprise...there are more months with 31 days in a year so the house wins. It's a bad optic. Despite the costs, they serve generic soda vs. Coke and Pepsi brands. Small yes, but at these prices...bad optic. They only have transportation offered 2 days a week while most other places provide 7 days. Again, for what they charge...bad optic. And one other thing. No matter what month you move in, your rent will be increased come January by 5-10%. The contract makes it sound like it's a random event, but it happens every year like clockwork and you will be notified 60 days in advance. And remember, you have your highest leverage to negotiate (the move-in fee, etc.) before you sign the contract. So with Sunrise, the people are terrific. The prices are not. And in the end, it's a shame that a business that exists to provide care often comes across as caring more about the money.

The answer is a resounding YES at The Ridge in Westlake. It is a true hidden gem. After researching every option and watching this facility being built, I was initially hesitant about choosing a newer place. That changed the moment I met the "heart" of the operation. Ivette (Memory Care Director): Ivette is incredible. Her expertise and accessibility are unmatched. She truly listens, keeps me posted, and I genuinely feel she keeps a personal eye on my dad. She is a kind soul who ensures his quality of life is excellent. Ian (Health Services Director): A true med-tech extraordinaire. Juggling medications is a massive task, and Ian is a pro who stays on top of every detail behind the scenes. Tonya (Activity Coordinator): I call her the "Cruise Director." She has the utmost patience and creativity, engaging residents at all different levels with physical activity and brain games. Her kindness radiates, and the weekly excursions are a wonderful touch. The Care Staff: I wish I could name them all in this post. This is a hard job, and they are amazing. I feel so lucky knowing they love my dad and made it a priority to get to know him. It didn't take long for them to figure out he loves to sleep in, needs his paper in the morning, and is always down for anything with chocolate! I pop in all the time and can always count on them. If you are reading this, you're likely navigating a difficult chapter that nobody prepares you for. You will doubt yourself, and the transition is hard. But the peace of mind here is real. The best testament I can give is a text my dad sent me the other night: "They are making me hot chocolate with marshmallows. I love this place! " The Ridge is secure, safe, and fun. When I leave my dad, I don't worry--and that is worth every penny. Yes, they are still working some things out as a newer facility, but don't let that push you away. Everyone has to start somewhere, and this is an opportunity you shouldn't overlook. Come visit--my dad would be the first to tell you how happy he is to call this place home.

I wish we had done it sooner. From day one my client is happy. The staff is so professional but also friendly and warm towards the residents. It is amazing how they go over and beyond with great care. I haven't even started talking about the home made fresh food:) I was impressed with the Head Nurse Manager Kim. Right away, my mom was welcomed with open arms. They understood my mom. My mom enjoys the home cooked meals and likes to hang out in the living room. All of the people that work there are kind and caring. Every time I visit my mom, she is clean and showered and happy. I appreciate how the home is light and bright with sunshine. There is a registered nurse, Kim, that see's everyone regularly and she is amazing! I highly recommend Select Senior Living. When one of the caregivers told me that she loves my mom, I cried.
