I purchased a Manitou Tritoon from Mark in 2017. I shopped around for quite a while looking at other brands and models. Since the boat I liked was a lot of money, I had lots of questions and did not want to regret my purchase. Mark spent lots of time on the phone with me answering questions before I finally drove down, 2 hours, to buy the boat. I've been extremely happy with the boat and it drives like a Porsche on water, especially for a 27' pontoon boat. I've actually had it up to 55 mph! I get a lot of attention whether towing it in town or on the water. It's just a very nice boat. We did have a cavitation issue whenever cornering. The boat kept up high RPMs but lost substantial speed in a sharp turn. After talking to Mark a few times, we decided to drop the motor an inch. I brought the boat down and Mark's mechanics lowered the motor. Got the boat back in the water and problem fixed. Last week: We keep our boat in covered storage during the off season and this last time I dropped it off, I'd forgotten to turn battery switch off. The house battery drained and I didn't catch this. I had my buddy drop me in the water and although the motor was running I didn't catch that I didn't have any gauges or power steering. With no steering, I had to get towed back. I didn't understand the problem at the time and although I knew it had to be electrical, I checked the fuses and they were all good. I called in to Semper and talked to Jason. This guy was very willing to help and told me he'd look into it. I figured I wouldn't here back for a few days since it was Saturday and also figured I wouldn't be on the lake this weekend, but I was wrong. An hour later I got a phone call from Jason. He recommended putting a jumper line between the cranking battery and the house battery. That was it!! Back on the water. Jason saved my weekend. He even called later in the day to see how things were going. I couldn't thank him enough. One last note: I've driven other pontoon brands and they just don't drive like a Manitou. You can just tell the quality between other boats and a Manitou. I paid $20k more for all the bells and whistles for a similar boat of a different brand and again, I'm really happy with my decision. read more

My husband went there because we were having an issue with the start button on our Suzuki outboard. According to their sign, they open at 9:00, he arrived at 9:08 and nobody was at the front. He went around to the back where they were working and they told him they don't open until 0900 (even though it was 0908). When he asked them about his issue they said "just because we are an authorized dealer, doesn't mean we know anything about it." When he asked about a warranty, they said they didn't know Suzuki had a warranty and that they didn't even know how to make a claim. They said they would charge $175 to look at it. After charging me $650 to tell me nothing was wrong with it (lake test). As well as telling me the breaks on my brand new trailer were fine. I contacted the manufacturer and showed them the video of the water my boat was taking in after being forced to spend the night on it. Not only did the manufacturer make it right, they told me my breaks were bad on the trailer. This is how Mark treats his customers. I will NEVER purchase from this LOOSER again! Thought I'd support a local business - but NEVER again this one. Instead of buying online (which was cheaper), I drove from Sanger to Semper to buy a part. The guy helps me out. I get home and realize it's the wrong part that he gave me. I call back and he told me "NO REFUNDS, NO EXCHANGES" and not in a nice way. Absolutely no customer service. I call back again and speak with the manager. Manager says he will exchange it for me. I drive back to exchange the part and after the manager walks away, I get attitude from the same cashier. Came down from Manteca to possibly buy a boat I saw on Boat Trader. I made the 1.5 hour drive and I am glad I did. This is the tale of two cities - before I bought the boat and as soon as I paid. Their team was helpful in the process of buying the 2001 Chaparral 186 SI but their "hand Shake" process of standing behind their name, brand, and service after the sale is not true. The young man who showed us the boat running told us that it had a leak that was fixed. In the starting the boat at the shop all seemed fine except that at the end of the process of buying it the trailer lights didn't work which I thought was Weird for a boat that had been "thoroughly inspected". They fixed it and we were on our way. The first time we took it out (one week later) and I returned home I noticed a lube leak out of the prop (I have been a boat owner in the past so I am somewhat familiar with how things work). Since the semper location is 2 1/2 hours each way from my house I decided to just bring it to a local boat shop thinking it would be something minor. It was not minor, It was a $650 leak repair that upon further inspection will end up being even more because it has to do with the transmission needing to be rebuilt. I had the work done, but sent an email to Semper about this issue. I was not asking for full reimbursement but I felt that a boat should have been in top shape before I took it which it obviously wasn't since this happened literally the first time out. Their team was professional but they offered no help and made it my fault because I didn't bring it back to their shop. If their product had been inspected properly I wouldn't need to bring it back to their shop since It should have been running at the highest level when they sold it. They obviously never did a thorough inspection of this boat but have no problem selling it to me at high-end of retail pricing. The lesson here is "buyer be ware". Mark and his team will seem to be very interested in doing the right thing until it is time to do the right thing, and then they will leave you to handle it on your own. As a used boat I understand that it is an "as is" contract but there is a common ethics that should apply. The Semper Team does not believe in this, although they have no problem taking top dollar for the boats they sell in a sellers market during the season. I will get the boat fixed the way it needs to be and I'm sure I'll enjoy it for years but if you're looking for a boat at Semper make sure you do your homework otherwise you may end up spending over $1000 to fix this like I did. It was a very disappointing experience after the initial purchase and you should be very Leary to buy a used boat from this location based on this experience. read more

Took our boat with it's outboard engine for diagnostics and repair due to sputtering and underperformance, and failure to run. Hundreds of dollars later, and after unauthorized parts and procedures, we took family and friends out on the lake where it died again. In attempting to backtrack and determine next steps, we called and were put through to the owner who was rude, abrupt, and defensive from the very beginning. We only wanted to figure out what we had been charged for, who did the work, and what the next steps were. No one should ever treat a customer like that, especially the owner. We are professionals ourselves and will NEVER give Semper Marine another dime of our hard earned money. You shouldn't either. read more

The summer really came quick and I needed to summarize my older model Eliminator. Semper has serviced the boat for years, but this time I was in a pinch. I called several weeks ago and Jason set me up with an appointment. When it came time pull the boat out of storage and get it to Semper for the prearranged service, I found out we were heading to the lake in 48 hours. Assuming what I needed done would take a few days, I asked "is there any way possible to fit me in and be able to get the boat out by end of the day?" I recently purchased a Tige Z3 from Semper Marine. The overall experience was extremely positive. Mark knows a lot about all types of boats and brands. He was very responsive to all our questions and provided a ton of information. He was honest with the information and listened to what my wife and I were looking for in a family boat. He made recommendations based on what best suited our needs and was not pushy in his approach. He allowed us to really dive into the nuances of the various brands and features as we explored his inventory. Once we decided on the Tige, the finance team was great at working with us remotely while we were back home in LA. They provided us all the required information needed to make this transaction seamless and were quick to follow up with us to make sure we were satisfied. When we picked up our boat, Ridge accompanied us to the lake to go through every technical and mechanical detail we needed to know or had questions about. He was patient with us through the process and very helpful. This type of boat was new to us so he made sure we were 100% satisfied before he left us at the lake. Purchased a used wakeboard boat from Semper Speed & Marine. Great experience. Since the boat was used, there we a small rusted out bow hook I noticed after having the boat a few weeks. Called the owner to ask the best way to replace it and he immediately overnighted the part to me along with another small pin I needed for the swim platform. I offered to pay, but he refused. This was a very well cared for new boat and I was simply asking for advice on accessing the area to replace this small part. I have been a Sanger fan for years and was looking to replace my v215 with the new v237. Being from Washington State, I didn't have many options for local dealers. In fact, I had no options. When I returned 10 minutes after picking up the boat he was eating lunch I asked him to drive the vehicle because I felt it was unsafe, he flat out refused. Furthermore, he did not check fluids or the brakes themselves just assured me all was well and went back to lunch. I am sure he tells a different story which would account for your condescending and inaccurate statement. Yes, I did ask to be reimbursed 3 months later hoping that your company would do the right thing given my immediate return and complaint to a Manager with regard to a safety item. If you have ever tried to get a boat serviced or needed work done on it during the busy summer season at any boat dealer/service place in the greater Fresno area, you know it is next to impossible to get anyone to even take your business, let alone get it done timely. But Semper pulled off the impossible. We took our boat (which we purchased at Semper over a decade ago) out for the first summer trip in June to find it dead on arrival. I called Semper and got in that same week on Tuesday and they had the boat fixed and ready for pickup the same week on Thursday (replaced the starter). Mark is an acquired taste for sure, but let me tell you, as soon as we got through the no BS outer shell, working with him for the past 6 months has has been one of the best experiences we've had with a major purchase. I'm not an easy customer to deal with, I'm needy, I want to know every little detail about everything, and I had an unending list of questions. Mark never once gave me a reason to think that my questions were unimportant and was always willing to spend the extra time to make sure I understood the "why", not just the "because this is how it is" of an answer. I'll say this, if you're the type of person who prefers dealing with scummy used car salesmen, go find another dealership.
