These guys grind hard. They were in the middle of prepping a 25 person luncheon when I walked in. They still got us in and out the door within 20 mins. Portions here are healthy sized. Prices are low low low. As long as you're willing to go into seedy underbelly of Wilmington your belly will be well rewarded. I washed down my gyro and koftas with a $1 tall boy of Arizona ice tea. You simply can't eat like this in the suburbs. Everything here is made to order so it is hot and fresh. I enjoyed everything I ordered (gyro, chicken over rice, and lamb koftas). Unfortunately you get what you pay for especially when it's delivered. I ordered a six piece fried shrimp and fries and a five piece fried chicken with coleslaw. The chicken was over cooked and dry. The fries were cold and stale. The fried shrimp was hot, so it was obviously cooked last. It was decent. I also ordered a peach cobbler. They preorder already made cobbler that they heat up and send to you. Not very impressed with this place. read more

Pros: Open late night Large portions for the price Friendly service Cons: Location isnt the best Food: It was decent. White sauce was too tangy, almost like a ranch sauce. Hot sauce was your standard hot sauce by Reds hot. Food wasnt fresh by any means as the guy behind the counter lifted up the lids for the pre-made chicken and pre-made lamb. Meats weren't dried out, but again it wasnt freshly prepared. Overall: I'll have to try their cart as reviews seem like that is the better option. Stay tuned. WILMINGTON'S HIDDEN GEM! I loveeee this place! I live in Trolley and the local Greek place (Opa Opa) is overpriced and just honestly not that good. Semos has some of the BEST gyros I've ever had and they are literally $4.99. Such a great deal because the meat is seasoned *perfectly* and the gyros are huge and fully loaded with veggies and yummy sauces. My husband and I always get one lamb gyro, one chicken gyro and then split fries. This comes out to about $10 and is always so delicious, totally worth the drive. For a fusion place I was pretty impressed. They sold pizza, fried chicken and gyros. I only grabbed a supreme pizza with all the veggies but it was great. I was visiting Delaware from California and even my boyfriend who is from Wilmington was impressed as he had never been there before. He promised to go there more often. Semo's is a great spot for fast food. They have lots of variety including fried chicken, pizza, gyros, halal food, water ice. The halal chicken over rice plate is really good, but note that it's a bit different from NYC halal carts if that's what you're used to. The seasoning has a tad less spice and they use parboiled rice instead of basmati. The fried chicken and gyros I've had were also good. The guys that work there are friendly. I especially appreciate their hours because not many places in the area stay open as late as them. read more

I ordered the chicken over rice and man, it was delicious! I had the option to get fries and soda for just $2 but I decided not to. Horrible food and filthy store. I love semo's Cart so I was extremely excited to see they had an actual store right around the corner with longer hours. The first time I came here I ordered the chicken and rice thinking it would be the same as the cart. That was my first mistake. The chicken was dry and cold even though it was under a heatlamp, the chunks of pepper and onion were way to overbearing, and the rice was more oily than anything else. I chalked it up to the fact that it was later in the evening and decided I'll come at a later date. Fast forward to a week later when I go to get some of those delicious sweet potato pies that you can find at any corner store for a $1. I get there and the brown bag of fries is sitting wide open next to raw Steak meat on the grill and the case that has the usual seafood salad, rice pudding etc, is literally full of flies. If the case wasn't right In front of the gentleman I would've taken a picture. There were three flies to one container of seafood salad, and that was in a refrigerated case. Even after that I figured the pies aren't made there so I'll just stick with them. I never have cash and I'm aware some places have a minimum so I asked. He advised there was a $5 minimum to which I replied I don't mind paying the extra processing fee for using a card which is usually .25 to .75 cents. Wouldn't you know it, later when I check my bank acct he charged me $5 for two $1 pies and I didn't even have a receipt to go back. Maybe he misunderstood when I said I would pay the "fee" but after the quality of food the first time, the overall cleanliness of the store and the discrepancy with my bill I'll stick to the cart. read more

Semo's is a hole the wall kind of place with a mix of halal food, fried chicken, and pizza. If that's what you're looking for it's great, and if it's not what you're looking for you came to the wrong place. As a visitor from California I also appreciate that's one of the few places around that's open late. If you're here for work and need something to take back to your hotel it can't be beat. read more

This is a small place with a clumsy indoor and outdoor atmosphere.Outside walkway to this place feels like you're walking through a gutter, full of trash. Coming to the food, Quantity is way much more for the price listed. But the quality of food is so poor that the meat is not properly cooked. I bought Lamb over rice this morning and found that the meat is not cooked and tasted like beef instead of the one that i ordered (lamb). So tried calling the restaurant and inform them; so that no one had to go through the same experience like i did, but the one who received the call hardly understands English and did not understand my message to him. Feeling socially responsible made me walk to that place again and handing over the food bag to them , Finally I got my money back , but its a waste of my time and the experience made me not to eat at these sort of places anymore.
