We came for breakfast and were seated quickly and had a very attentive and helpful server. Thank goodness we had already decided on having breakfast because the menu was impressively extensive! We got the Hungry man special with a rambled eggs and French toast and the Country fried Steak with gravy & eggs with a side of Rye toast. The portions are larger than we expected for the prices and solid belly fillers. Both of our meals came with Home Fries but they are closer to hash browns (which was our preference). Clean, tasty and great service all around, a solid spot added to our local breakfast list!

She was visibly impressed--maybe even overwhelmed--by the sprawling menu, which read like a novella of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Despite the dizzying array of choices, she played it safe and went with a plain waffle. It arrived golden and crisp, though she spent more time marveling at the laminated menu than the food itself. I went for the Country Omelet, which the menu claimed was made with two eggs, but I'd wager they snuck in a third. It was generously stuffed with onions, tomato, ham, sausage, and bacon--essentially a breakfast sampler folded into one fluffy parcel. The toast came on the side, along with a mountain of home fries that could've fed a small scout troop. It was hearty, satisfying, and just chaotic enough to feel authentic. The diner wasn't particularly busy, so the lapses in service were a bit puzzling. Coffee refills were slow, and the toast arrived cold as evidenced by the unmelted butter still spread on top. Still, we weren't in a rush, and the main dishes hit the spot. It wasn't perfect, but it was warm, filling, and gave Mrs. K. a taste of the regional diner experience. Quirks and all. It's been many things in its history, but it's been Jessop's Tavern since 1996. (The family who owns the restaurant named it after a cooper named Abraham Jessop, who lived and worked in the building in 1724.) The restaurant has a great menu of food (including dishes inspired by the cuisines important to New Castle's early history: smorgasbord, a Dutch-inspired pot roast, etc.) and an incredible list of beers (200 Belgian beers, 20+ Belgian beers on draft, and more). We shared the Jessop's Tavern Crab Dip (served in a sourdough bread bowl) for the table, and I had the New Sweden Meatloaf for my entree (meatloaf with a vodka cream sauce and lingonberry preserves). I also had a couple of colonial ales - Washington's Porter by Yards Brewing Co. (I liked it so much, I had two). The service was good, and the ambiance is great: full of colonial charm. I'm sure there are other great places to eat in New Castle, but eating at Jessop's Tavern is a special place to grab a meal if you're spending the day exploring New Castle and learning about its history.

Subject: Formal Complaint - Unacceptable Staff Conduct and Management Failure…read more To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report a deeply troubling experience I had at your Turning Point Restaurant location. What occurred was far below any reasonable standard of customer service and left me feeling unsafe and disrespected. During my visit, a male server verbally accosted me -- using profane language, making threatening remarks, and treating me in a wholly disrespectful manner. This behavior was entirely unprovoked and completely unacceptable in any setting, let alone a dining establishment. What made the situation worse was the response from management. Despite the incident taking place, the manager on duty took no meaningful action to address the situation, offer an apology, or ensure my safety and comfort as a customer. Their inaction sent a clear message that this kind of conduct is tolerated at your restaurant. I am requesting the following: 1. A formal written acknowledgment of this complaint 2. A full investigation into the conduct of the staff member involved 3. Appropriate disciplinary action against both the server and the manager who failed to act 4. A direct response to me outlining the steps taken I sincerely hope Turning Point takes this matter seriously. No customer should ever be subjected to threats or verbal abuse, and no manager should stand by while it happens. I look forward to your prompt response. Sincerely, Kwame
