Our waiter was inattentive and overall didn't provide a good experience. Despite that, my mom still chose to leave a respectful and honest review, simply expressing her concerns in hopes that things would improve. What's even more upsetting is that when she returned to give the restaurant another chance, she was told by staff that they could not serve her because of the review she left. Mind you, this is someone who has supported this business for years. It's disheartening to see a loyal customer be turned away for providing honest feedback. Reviews are meant to help businesses grow, not punish customers for speaking up. I really hope management takes a step back and reevaluates how they handle feedback and treat long-time customers.

Dinner and a show, I'm down! The show was good, but the food was just fine. Everything leaned too sweet for my liking. Our group of 4 got the $30 each 7 course family style meal. Spicy (not even that spicy!! (2/5 spice level IMO)) chicken and the eggplant dish at the beginning were my favorite dishes.

From the outside, it doesn't look like much; in fact, it looks like a bit of a dive from outside. But when you walk in, you are transported. The design of the restaurant is so special - community tables, pillows, tapestries, waterfall features, tiles, and belly dancing. The food was a little inconsistent. We shared many dishes: Bastilla (baked layers of filo dough, eggs, chicken, almonds, sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar); hummus (chickpeas, tahini, crushed garlic, lemon juice, sprinkled with paprika and olive oil, served with pita bread); Spanakopita; salad trio (eggplant salad, cucumber and tomato salad, and carrot salad); lamb tagine (stew of lamb, onions, and roasted peppers topped with honey and served with rice); Moroccan chicken with harissa cumin sauce; mujaddara (cracked bulgur wheat cooked with lentils and caramelized onions); and mint tea. I wish they didn't serve bottled waters, and the food was mostly good but not the most consistent. Our mujaddara wasn't served with the yogurt sauce listed on the menu, and the lamb with the tagine was incredibly fatty, making some of it inedible. The mint tea was really really really sweet - like syrup! I also wish the bastilla had a little less powdered sugar (I like on the dish, but it was A LOT of powdered sugar), and it was quite dry. But the eggplant salad, carrot salad, hummus, and mujaddara (even without the yogurt sauce) were great. I would happily have eaten just those dishes. They were busy - it's a popular place - but service was also a challenge. It took us almost a half hour to get the check and pay. I had to ask for the bill twice and then it still took a while to get it, for it to get picked up, and for it to come back to us. It's pretty bad if I'm considering walking up to the bar to get the check and pay. I loved the ambiance and the character. I loved that you can't tell how amazing it's going to be inside when you see the outside of the building - it's a surprise for sure. Our experience was that the food was a bit inconsistent, but it certainly was a fun meal.

It's a small place, and the music can be a little loud, so best for a smaller, intimate group of diners. Cocktails were solid --- my friend ordered the Winter White Cosmo (which uses white cranberry juice), which was delicious, and I chose the Lady in Red, a vodka drink featuring hibiscus and elderflower which was yummy as well. We started with the cornbread and the brussels sprouts. The cornbread was good, though the texture was more dense and less crumbly than I expected... and though it's pitched as "sweet and spicy," the emphasis is more on "sweet." The brussels sprouts with fig-balsamic glaze and parmesan were delicious, though! My friend ordered the gumbo, which she enjoyed but noted it was quite spicy! I chose the salmon, which is cooked en papillote with a banana leaf and served with a salad of arugula, bell peppers, mango, and papaya on top. The salmon texture was perfect, and it was a delicious, lighter option for dinner. Overall, the food didn't blow my mind, but it's such a fun and welcoming atmosphere that I would definitely go back.

Unfortunately, the wrap itself was very soggy and difficult to eat as a wrap, so I ended up eating the filling more like a salad. The vegetables also didn't seem particularly fresh, which made it disappointing overall. I know dietary restrictions can be challenging for restaurants to accommodate, and I appreciate the effort to create an alternative option. However, the final dish just didn't come together for me. We came for breakfast and were seated quickly and had a very attentive and helpful server. Thank goodness we had already decided on having breakfast because the menu was impressively extensive! We got the Hungry man special with a rambled eggs and French toast and the Country fried Steak with gravy & eggs with a side of Rye toast. The portions are larger than we expected for the prices and solid belly fillers. Both of our meals came with Home Fries but they are closer to hash browns (which was our preference). Clean, tasty and great service all around, a solid spot added to our local breakfast list!
