Overpriced, but a decent cup of coffee. Definitely around for the aesthetics and Instagram posts, but as far as coffee knowledge goes... The baristas are pretentious at best. Have you read their Instagram captions? Ri-dic-u-lous. No real coffee knowledge has ever been discussed with me, even when I bring the topic up. I get the same spiel every time. I get that you all read the same Google page, really, I do. Perhaps the most relatable thing is to NOT sound like robots when customers ask questions. They have potential. Lots of it. They have the means to. The space is small, even more tight to sit down in since they added the roaster to their shop. From multiple visits, I have come to these conclusions. Color scheme clean and modern. Ethiopian beans not roasted well and not doing that bean justice. Tastes acidic every time, not well rounded. Merchandise overpriced. Pour over tasted like the filter. Espresso shots went bad. Latte milk not hot enough. Matcha not whisked properly, had a clumpy one. Constructive criticism: instead of spending money for your staff wide trip to Japan that you all advertised all over social media, invest in actual coffee courses instead of looking for a photo op. Educate your community, you are NOT above everyone who walks through your doors. read more

Before the pandemic started and even now, this place is my go to for coffee. In my opinion, it is the best coffee shop in the Valley and even if you're not a coffee lover, you must try it out; the creativity in the menu is just out of this world. Regarding the current situation, the staff has shown to care about customer safety and satisfaction. I've witness their cleaning protocols and adaptation to the covid pandemic. If you don't feel comfortable going in to order some coffee, curbside and online orders are available as a safety option. The workers are always wearing a mask and sanitizing their working space, as well as the customer space. I really appreciate their sense of care during this difficult times. As customers, it is imperative we understand local businesses are doing their best to satisfy our wants in the most safe way possible. Pretentious marketing and aesthetic but the coffee missed the mark. I was visiting from Houston and decided to stop by for a bag of beans. Ordered a v60 of the Colombia Pink Bourbon. What should've been a floral and sweet cup instead turned out to be cloyingly astringent, muddled and watered down. I was expecting more out of a place that calls itself "a coffee lab" and offers several brew methods (v60, Chemex, Aeropress etc). This was at 5 in the afternoon, and the place was not busy at all. Service was pretty lukewarm. Props to being one of the few specialty places in McAllen, but overall I wasn't impressed. Maybe the espresso is better. read more

After checking out this place on Yelp and seeing all the photos and reviews I thought I'd make a pit stop here while visiting family here in the valley. Its kinda hard to find. Located between two buildings. Not very much parking and it's very small. The inside is pretty basic it has a few large pieces of coffee equipment to make it some what okay as far as decor. It was very crowded with mainly teenagers and college students. They have 4 tables for outside seating but there was only chairs available for three tables. Inside only 3 tables. There was only one employee working so our orders took longer than I'm used to waiting for coffee. I ordered The Last Word Latte and the Cheesecake. We also ordered one of the Pineapple drinks. The pineapple drink has a very unusual taste. My girlfriend did not really like it. The Latte was okay but the Cheese Cake pretty good. Due to Covid19 our coffee was served to go in paper cups so I wasn't able to experience the coffee as well as I wanted. My review is only my opinion and it seems like this place is geared for the younger crowd. I took several photos but decided not to add to review. read more

Loved this small and modern coffee shop! It's a bit hidden but was definitely worth the find. They sell all your favorite coffees with the option choosing the method you want it made. They also have specialty drinks that are very refreshing and yet still coffee. I tried their tamarind coffee drink and it was very refreshing and something that I've never tried before. The interior is very nice and very well spaced for the size of the shop. I would definitely come more often. read more

The area is small and hidden, but with a very modern-hipster design! I love the wood detailing and fabrics and patterns they use to decorate the place. Personally, it's too small to sit down and study or do work, but it's a perfect place to sit down and catch up or relax. I ordered the hibiscus from their Tragos menu and I'm amazed. It's all the positive benefits of coffee I enjoy with out the overtly acidic bite in a fruity-refreshing "coffee cocktail" as the barista described. Then I tried a sip of my companion's café latte (medium), I was so fascinated with the texture of milk and taste. Slightly sweetness and entirely tenderness of foam milk came to my mouth. When you drink other shop's, milk always come straight forward as liquid underneath of foams, but that latte was so foamy from head to toe with sips. read more

This place is really cool! I have never been to a place quite like this. This is the first time I have ever heard of or tried a Trago. It's like a mixed drink without the alcohol, plus a shot of cold brew coffee. It's a very interesting drink combination that I would've never thought of, yet it's rather refreshing! Aside from that, the decor was just perfect. Some of the coffee drinks are plain and simple, some are luxurious and some are just mega awesome - served in a beaker!!! Another side note - they also roast their own coffee and they make their own cold brew. I saw an assortment of mini cheesecakes and delectable looking pastries, like chocolate croissants and a croissant with light green glaze, it was either pistachio or matcha. I didn't try the pastries because I am watching carb intake, but my buddies said they were great. I will definitely be coming back to this place next time I'm in McAllen!! read more

I got the charcoal coffee which can be very sweet, so be sure to let the barista know your preferences. The barista was very nice but super slow! The coffee was pretty expensive for McAllen.
