Grind Coffee Company BAD CHOICE! NO STARS! WASTE of MONEY!…read more A horrible disappointment! Never again! I was genuinely excited to try the coffee here. I stated to the young lady at the counter that this was my first time patronizing the business and that I was looking forward their offerings. She looked at the other young lady at counter and rolled her eyes and just smirked. I asked her for some recommendations... their signature coffees, what they're known for, and customer favorites. She rolled her eyes again and with a smirk stated that "these are good" as she pointed to a piece of paper with a list of drinks that she pushed across the counter. She didn't make any recommendations, just read this. Noting her dismissive attitude, I just ordered my plain coffee which took almost 10 minutes. I paid for my coffee and went on to my meeting. I took a sip and realized that was not what I ordered. She did not serve me coffee she served some kind of chai nasty tasting mess with almond milk. I had to throw it out. Needless to say the $7.00 would've been better spent somewhere else. I don't feel valued as a customer at this place. I can't take them seriously, if they can't even be courteous enough to listen to the order, and ensure it was right. Such a shame, it truly was a lost opportunity to be welcoming, and willing to take me from first time customer to loyal customer. Failed at delivering an amazing customer service experience. Well as the saying goes, "You get what you paid for", I sure did! There are better places to get a Great cup of coffee... go there instead. Too bad for the owner that this person is the face of the business and a poor representative of the business. I guess we know now what NOT to expect from grind coffee company.

After spending the week having my colleague take me to a chain coffee spot each morning, I decided…read moreto walk down to Sovereign Coffee on my last morning in the RGV. While the walk was a bit of a hike (lack of sidewalks), it was definitely worth the effort! My coffee order is simple, large Americano with cream, but I also believe you can tell the quality of the beans when you get a great cup. Sovereign didn't disappoint. It was hot, with a rich flavor, and the start I needed to my morning. Jesse, the barista, was so friendly as well. He was a ray of sunshine before the sun had come up. The shop is cute! I wish I had the time to sit and sip there. But I will definitely push to drive around the corner to Sovereign if I come back down to the Valley.

Delicious bites: grilled cheese with tomato basil soup, sourdough bread, cinnamon roll, and avocado…read moretoast, very tasty. The Scandinavian breakfast is cute and good but the hard boiled egg is too messy to peel. It's not easy to remove and you're left with a messed up not so much egg. Delicious drinks: Miso Shakerato and flat white are my faves. I personally don't like their vanilla (has saffron). It does take a while to get your order and if it's more than one person, you get you items one or few at a time so others at the table are awkwardly waiting while you have your order. Staff is friendly. Space inside is cramped, but there is outdoor seating.

Krispy Kreme...eat your heart out…read more First things first...I am not a sweets guy at all. But these donuts, on appearance alone, appear decadent and will give you your favorite sugar high. The one that drew my attention was the maple bacon donut. People have mentioned price...these donuts are worth that price. One donut alone is quite a large portion for the average person...which is a problem because you don't want to eat just one. The maple bacon...where do I start. The perfect combination of sweet and salty...the nice crunch of the bacon on top of the sponginess of the donut... delectable! That one alone will keep bringing me back. They have a great variety overall. They appear to swap out certain flavors...while maintaining the regular stable of glazed donuts. This location also serves up shakes and smoothies, which I have yet to try. If there was one detail...the recent times I've gone, they only have 1 worker, and if there's a line, it drags. The one worker will focus entirely on just that one order...which is fine. But no greeting from the worker...no "I'll be right with you" type of reply. That would be my only gripe.. Worth the hype ...and try that maple bacon!
