This was our first time eating here. We decided to sit at the Bar. It was a great experience the bartender was very attentive. We started off our mean with the Salmon Tostadas and they were delicious. We then got the Blackened Shrimp Tacos but as you can tell from the picture they weren't blackened but they were good. We then had The Cuban Sandwich which was are least favorite thing. We ended it with the Garritas de Leon and let me tell you... it was our favorite. When ranking what we are the Garritas Tacos were #1, the Salmon Tostadas were #2, the Blackened Shrimp #3, and the The Cuban Sandwich at #4. We did have a couple of drinks and they all were delicious. I loved their cucumber martini (not on the drink menu) the most. I will definitely be coming again. Also their hours are not what's posted here. I provided a picture of the updated hours.

Decided to check the place out for an after dinner drink. A tad loud but the bar area is great. Great cocktails, Carajillo is on point! My friend had La Luna which was a smooth, sexy chocolate drink with Tito's. Highly recommend. Ask for David@ the bar. Brunch is also available.

Pretty pricey for the RGV and the food isn't impressive. Service and coffee is good, but food really isn't worth the price.

Our server was Sublany and she was awesome. Very personable and her recommendations were spot on. We decided to start with the Calamari with sun dried amogio. The calamari were large and prepared perfectly. The sun dried amogio was amazing - great flavor and some heat - the perfect pairing with the calamari. Great start! We tried the soup of the day which was something we'd never heard of much less eaten. It was a green bean soup - the beans were puréed with cream, some cheese and red pepper flakes. We weren't sure how it would taste by Sublany highly recommended it so we went for it. It was really good - the flavor was subtle but great; nice and creamy. We would definitely order it again. For our entrees my wife tried the salcicce which was pappardelle, fennel sausage, roasted red bell pepper, marinara, caprino and red pepper flakes. It was also very good - the pasta was prepared perfectly and the flavors all worked very well - another hit. I selected the lamb chops which were frenched lollipops, blue cheese cream and an arugula salad. The chops were perfectly prepared and the blue cheese cream on top was amazing - made very good chops excellent. The arugula salad also had a great flavor. I would also order this again. For dessert we decided to share a Hand Pie which was an apple pie with caramel drizzle and ice cream. The texture of the dough was great and the apples had a great cinnamon flavor which worked well with the caramel drizzle and the vanilla ice cream. This place was great! I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a bit more upscale than the run of the mill restaurants!

If you're on the fence to try this place, reserve now and go enjoy the night there Went on a Saturday evening. Had a dinner birthday reservation for 4. Got sat right away. Water was served right away. They Brought out the bread and tomatoes right away. Had some really good Argentinian red wine. They even let us do some wine tasting . Our daughter's food came out before ours ! Perfect! They fell in love with the Empanadas! As for my wife and I, we ordered Bife con Hueso. Words can't describe how delicious it was, with the chimi churi ! Cooked to perfection, with the right amount of flavor. Mad props to the chef. And presentation 10/10. The whole evening was just at peace. The food. The drinks. The service. The atmosphere. We'll be coming back again! Happy holidays

Wine - a stellar wine list, with a focus on Argentina (more Malbecs from different regions than I have ever seen) and incredible value; we had an organic Malbec for $45 with would cost 3x on the East coast Cow it's about the beef! A wood burning grill with the aroma of Mesquite for the Beef Short Ribs, NY Strip, Ribeye (with our without bone), right up to the Tomahawk. I had the lamb chops (8) which were cooked perfectly pink just like in France. All come with a house salad and the sides are amazing. The usual suspects (fries, mashed potatoes etc) but we went for the baked beets with cream cheese, pistachio & arugula and the portobello mushrooms; enough for the table and more to take home for lunch tomorrow... Service was great, despite the cramped conditions It's been a long time since I've had such a great meal out Try it - you will not be disappointed

And we'll be back again, I'm sure, but tonight was not a good night. Would rate tonight two stars based on value for price, but bumping up a star based on past experiences. We arrived, with reservations, to a half-empty restaurant. We (my wife and I) were first seated in a tight spot between a very large party and a wall, with a narrow aisle for the server to pass through separating us. After being seated, we realized this spot was not for us and asked to be reseated. Good thing, too, since moments later a player arrived to play corny Christmas tunes at a piano *immediately * adjacent (less than 3 feet away) to our original table. Nobody had asked us if we minded giving up our night's conversation in favor of the piano. I'm sure some folks would've loved it, but you need to ask before sitting people that close to the music. Anyway, glad we moved. If all else had gone well, I wouldn't be bothering with this review. But. The timing was terrible: we ordered cocktails before dinner. When they arrived, our waiter took our order - and within two minutes appeared with our soup and salad. My cream of cauliflower soup was great, but did not mix with my drink. What ever happened to enjoying a drink *before* dinner? My subsequent caesar salad was as good as any I've had, but when dinner arrived my wife's steak and baked potato were barely above room temperature. She also mentioned that her filet was incredibly dry. My New York strip was tasty, though. Oh, but the wine: we each ordered glasses of red, but both were *ice* cold. Like really really cold. So we slogged through the meal, but as you might imagine we were ready pretty soon to write it off as an off night and move on. So we placed our utensils on our plates, pushed our plates a tiny bit away, and sat back a bit so the server could see we were finished. Which he might have, if on any of the six subsequent times that he passed near our table he had bothered to even glance at us. Finally, we had to get another server to request that our server bring our check. So he finally shows up asking what we need, not bringing the check as we requested of his colleague. I again asked for the check mentioned to him that as a server it is useful to look around at your tables whenever you pass through the room. He did not apologize. Look, this is usually a great place. I'm sure we'll be back on some future visit to McAllen. Tonight, though, not so much. I hope the management is paying attention to this and that this was truly just a rare off-night and not a sign of declining service. At this price, you need to do better.

The server/bartender was rude, dismissive, and acted annoyed when asked for something as basic as a drink refill. The only time he showed any level of attentiveness was when the apparent manager was present -- once they were gone, so was any effort or professionalism. Despite being the only table, our food took over an hour to come out, with no explanation or apology. This was the first time in my life I've ever left a zero tip, and it was absolutely earned. What made it worse? The server/bartender noticed and actually followed us out to our car just to give us a sarcastic thumbs-up. Completely inappropriate, uncomfortable, and beyond unprofessional. Save your time and money. This place clearly has no standards for service or behavior. I will not be returning to the McAllen, Tx. location!
