I originally left Selecta a glowing review and really thought I'd found my go-to body shop. Sadly, things have changed. I came back after being rear-ended for an insurance estimate and also asked for an out-of-pocket quote for a small cosmetic dent nearby. The appraisal was super quick and they barely listened when I pointed out alignment issues. I brought it up with the manager but didn't feel heard there either. Then the estimate took forever. They quoted the tiny dent at more than the entire rear-end repair, even with some overlap in the work. I called several other body shops and ALL quoted significantly less. I ended up getting it done with paintless dent repair for a few hundred dollars. The first time I came here, everyone was friendly, personable and thorough. This time it felt like they were more interested in the insurance payout than the actual customer. I decided to go somewhere else. read more

I'm very satisfied with my experience at Selecta. 10 years ago, I got accidentally hit the antenna on my roof, causing it to become loose.... Selecta did a great job getting it flush again, making sure to get the paint matched up with my car. Recently I went back because the paint around the antenna became discolored and they have a lifetime warranty for paint-related work (as long as it's under the same owner). Anthony explained to me that this was very unusual, and the paint company also came to inspect the situation because it could've been a bad batch of primer. I appreciated the regular updates on the status of my car while it was worked on. It did take a bit longer than usual, but they explained it was because they need to sand it down to its bare metal. When I picked up my car, everything brand spanking new again, and they even washed my car and cleaned the interior. My Acura TSX suffered a hit-and-run, and I went in with a damaged front left fender, a popped out bumper, and a driver-side door that couldn't open all they way from the collision. I was just expecting for my car to return to the state it was before the collision, but IT CAME OUT BETTER!! When I got my car back, my Car LOOKED BRAND NEW!! EVERY BIT that the Selecta Auto Team touched/worked on turned to Gold (well, in my case, Silver, cuz that's my car color)! The fender was replaced, front door back normal (with blemishes eliminated), my bumper put back together, all with a Phenomenal PERFECT Paint Job! (My car looked like it just came off the lot!) But NOT ONLY THAT, my car was washed, rims cleaned, headlamp covers buffed, interior detailed and vacuumed. IT WAS PURELY A VIP EXPERIENCE FOR MY CAR!! My car window of my MINI had to be replaced and there was slight body damage that to be repaired and Selecta Auto Body took care of the job! Select Selecta +'s: + Timeliness. I set an appointment to show my car and the team (and especially Gene) was available at the designated time and day with no wait. + Timeliness again. The car was delivered one day early after waiting on parts. It was a pleasant surprise and totally glad that they did not overpromise! + Estimate on target! The bill did not go over the estimate and they were true to their word. Fyi if it does go over after further inspection of your car damage, they are very upfront of any potential costs. In my case, the team did not find additional damage after taking my car apart in their shop. + Clean space. Sure auto shops can get greasy but there's also something said about a clean garage or workspace. I get the feeling the team here is orderly and has great attention to detail. My parked car got bumped while parked on the street. The person who did it is a saint and left their information (restoring my faith in SF), and we decided to sort it ourselves rather than go through insurance. Out of the ~5 auto body places I got an estimate from, Selecta was the lowest. On top of that, their customer service was the friendliest (clear communication around appointments, what to expect if I leave my car with them, breakdown of the cost, no rush or attempt to upsell). It was an easy decision, and the final work gave me no reason to regret it. As it turns out, my car is old enough that replacement bumpers are no longer produced, but they took it in stride and instead managed to fix the existing damaged bumper to the point where it looks brand new. And as a result, the final bill was lower than the estimate and only took a half day longer. I sure hope I never need auto body services again, but if I do, Selecta will definitely be the place I go. read more

From the moment I stopped in for a quote, communication was great. They called me almost every day to update me on progress, and when I might be able to pick my car up. Costs were upfront and transparent, with everything that needed work handed over to me on a bill to review from the beginning. What in the world is in the water at this place. I brought in my crappy 2007 Honda fit that needed the bumper reattached and the splash guard jimmied back up so it wasn't dragging on the ground. I dropped it off without asking what it would cost, or even leaving a phone number. I went to get coffee and was like 'oh shit.... wait this could be expensive'. When I came back, these amazing friendly sweet guys had fixed it for FREE. Free! What??? Who does work for free?? We're out here living in late stage capitalism and these guys are taking precious time out of their day to fix my broken ass piece of crap car for free???? I really wanted to pay, he said I could tip the service tech who did it, but I didn't have cash - so I sent them a couple pizzas. In addition, the manager, owner, I didn't get his name, was real with me about my POS car & what it would cost to get it all shiny and new (more than the car is worth which we both agreed is a dumb idea) which is so appreciated. My dad is a mechanic and runs a shop in Boston, so I'm always scared I'm gonna get ripped off and he's gonna disown me. This place is an awesome certified Subaru collision center. My rear bumper was barely hanging on when I showed up, and I was nervous about the price / amount of time it was going to take to get a quote, let alone get it fixed, based on discouraging conversations I had with other body shops. But the quote took all of 20 minutes, and the price (to fix both the bumper and a dent I had in the driver side door) was far under what I was anticipating. Gene also popped my bumper back in for free after providing the quote so it wouldn't fall off while he was waiting for the replacement part to come in. A whole week later still in same position. They basically were trying to force me into having them repair my vehicle or they wouldn't upload the estimate to state farm so i can go to a shop of my choice ! Really funny . Not only were they friendly, they're a B Corp (highest standard for any business), and even let you text them through their text update service. My car came out looking brand new after I needed to get it fixed due to an accident. I can't believe I wrote my first review for selecta a decade ago. But think about this, how often are you a customer of a business for a decade? I brought my new to me 2015 jeep srt8 for some aesthetic work. I wanted to remove all the chrome trim and emblems and replace with black ones, and take off any emblems that doesn't need to be there. (How funny, my first review, I was doing the same thing to my c55.) Anthony got my parts ordered... took a peak at the work and we got a price down. A little bit later, my jeeps getting everything done. As with every time I've been here, everything was done right....... BUT, see here are the things a GREAT place does. Anthony found some weird things with the car. Strange dents, some prior work..... always appreciated.... but these guys also found a handful of bolts and nuts loose inside some panels! I've been trying to track down some rattles when I drive. They only happened very rarely and pretty randomly. I was going crazy trying to figure this out while driving! Done. read more

TL;dr Selecta Auto Shop is 10/10 My parents live directly across from 3 schools, so there is always a lot of traffic at our house. Their Lexus is always parked on the street getting hit by terrible SF drivers. Farmers insurance informed us of Selecta Auto Body, and to be honest, we have had subpar service from other places so wasn't expecting much. Gene, Anthony, and the rest of the team was nothing short of spectacular and dealt with the whole situation with haste and professionalism. My parents don't really speak English, so the team called me with updates as I was working( a total of 7 calls!) This is rare because for these shops the customer is usually the one initiating for updates, or even if the shop does call, the customer is still left somewhat confused.
