At Boots Opticians the display models are exactly that, display models. They worked from my prescription and the glasses were ready seven days later, they were checked and fitted by a friendly and helpful member of staff. I am very satisfied with the service and would recommend this department of Boots.

This is a locally run opticians and Optometrists, and is small and perfectly formed…read more If you want a quick eye test and the newest pair of designer frames, you could go elsewhere, but if you want a more in depth eye exam, or a test for some kinds of visual disturbances, (such as Irlen syndrome or other forms of Dyslexia) than you should start here first! I visited last year for my first full-length eye-test, and the Optician, a very gentle and entertaining chap, really did a fantastic job. He went into great detail to explain various conditions to me, not just the symptoms but the scientific causes, and seemed to enjoy sharing information. The price was good, and the service was excellent.

This is one of the most efficient Boots Opticians I've been to. The staff are well-trained and some…read moreof them have been there for years as I see familiar faces whenever I go in. The shop is usually spotless. It's the best place to go if you have a higher than average prescription as they seem to have the best trained staff and access to a greater range of lens types than other high street opticians. The range of frames is also good, particularly the designer ranges. You can also buy highly regarded ranges here, such as Silhouette. The only drawback is the price but even that's changed in recent years and Boots in general is much more copetitive.

Christmas always brings a large selection of the 3 for 2 gift deals, making things a lot more reasonable. Also has an opticians (very friendly) and a photo processing area where not only is it one of the few places left that does hourly processing in town, it also has a number of digital photo booths where you can print your own. I would say though, that the quality of photos is not brilliant. Helpful staff that will always do their best to reduce queuing times and, in a store like this where it is easy to get lost trying to find something, they will always assist in the search! Although it can be more expensive than, say Superdrugs, there are often fantastic deals and offers, and the advantage card system is brilliant.

My biggest gripe with the shop is that there are NEVER enough staff on the tills, particularly on a Saturday when Eastbourne town centre is heaving. Today they had three people serving in the middle of the afternoon and a long snaking queue that went considerably beyond the queueing area. They have recently installed 'self checkouts' at the Terminus Road end of the store, presumably so they can employ even fewer staff members! Actually it makes the situation worse because many people do not seem able to use the checkout machines properly and need assistance, which takes longer than it would to be served by a real life person! Having moaned about all of that, as a brand I think Boots is great. Their parenting club in particular is very helpful for parents and the Advantage Card system is very generous compared to other loyalty card schemes. I just wish this branch would employ a few more staff.
