Zero management able to talk and if you complain I'm just these is like every other fast food restaurant where they will just spit in your food. Common Cincinnati behavior all around. Absolute garbage food for the patients. The doctors and staff eat well but when it comes to food delivered to patients it's absolute garbage. Spoil warm milk and burnt pizza and good luck having a warm or toasted bagel they just give it to you straight from the bag.

When I met Tedroy, I mentioned that I have a niece applying to medical school (or residency, I'm not sure how it works). With his permission, I gave my niece Tedroy's social media account, LinkedIn maybe, and the two connected. I thought everything was ok until I recently spoke with my niece. Over the course of a month, Tedroy Jackson lorded his position as a resident over my niece. He demanded her attention and would threaten her application if she hesitated. Unfortunately, my niece does not want to bring this matter to the attention of the hospital out of fear that it would affect her application. So, I am asking that someone interject and control Dr. Tedroy Jackson. His actions are unprofessional and threatening. I expect more from those who represent the name of Christ.

Grandmother went into the ER for a stroke. She got one single meal from the hospital over a stay of…read more5 days. We sat on the line for food for 45 minutes to no response, just to get told they changed the meal plan that day and nothing could be done. Even after that day she received no food from the hospital, we had to bring in food every time (just to get questioned). She passed her swallow test a half dozen times and still wasn't allowed solid food except for the first day when they gave her a full breakfast. Asked important questions many times (like if we can sit her up and feed her) to be told "we'll be back in a bit" and the nurse never came back. Multiple times my grandma herself, still recovering from a stroke, had to tell the nurses what the doctors said, which would clearly tell you nobody has any idea what's going on at this hospital. They botched her spinal tap and left her in agonizing pain for hours overnight and we had to call the nurses more than once to ask for painkillers. We got almost no updates about any step of her care and I had to ask her multiple times for basic information that should be provided to a family. A nurse also gave her a shot in the wrong place (her arm instead of her stomach) which left the specialist team appalled, and her arm almost unusable. On the last day, the nurse giving her a stroke exam literally threw her limbs around, violently tugging on the arm that she said was in pain repeatedly. At the same time she was nearly yelling at my grandmother to relax her arms which she was unable to do. This went on for 15 minutes. This is all not even mentioning the many times we were lied to or given otherwise incorrect information. If someone goes here and are not completely lucid and able to advocate for themselves firmly, the medical team will do what they want and leave them in pain without any assistance for hours. The nurses are usually pretty nice, but so understaffed that they repeatedly forget or omit basic care and comfort. As mentioned, we were told multiple times we'd get updates on what we can and cannot do, just for the nurses to not return. The only real compassion came from medical students. Lastly, visiting in the ER is hit or miss. Sometimes you'll be let back in 5 minutes if you have already entered, other times you'll wait upwards of 2 hours. Third day I was let in in under 10 minutes. I went out for coffee after a half hour and had my visitor badge still on. I went to get let back in and had to wait 2 hours just to "confirm with the nurse". All of that is not to mention the abusive and inhumane treatment of people begging for help in the ER lobby I saw. A man doubled over in pain sitting in a chair, unable to talk, had to be noticed by the police manning the metal detector and put in a wheelchair by them instead of the actual medical personnel. As expected, as soon as they got him over to help the nurse began interrogating him for his name rather than assessing his condition while he was nearly falling out of the chair and only able to grunt, while grasping his stomach tightly and struggling to breathe normally. All of this is specific to the ER, so you must keep that in mind. In all honesty if you have a serious medical emergency, you'd probably be better off staying home and booking an appointment for your regular doctor than going to UC health's "emergency" room.

I needed to use Mercy Health's emergency room last week, due to a cut on my finger late at night…read morethat was just bad enough for stitches. Overall, I was very impressed with this clean and caring facility. I expected chaos, crowded misery and a long wait (isn't that the conventional view of a hospital waiting room?) Instead I found great signage so the ER was easy to find, ample convenient parking, and a friendly receptionist who was patient, cheerful, and helpful. Seriously -- she talked to me above and beyond just getting me checked in, and just radiated kindness! They don't take your insurance information at the front door, which was a surprise. She asked just enough about me to get me checked in. Then she called for a med tech to immediately get me stabilized so I could wait comfortably -- which meant cleaning up my finger, & giving me a gauze pad and instructions on how to keep the pressure on the wound. I was told it was "medium busy," -- I'm guessing the wait was about 30 minutes, in a very clean, bright room, which easy access to bathrooms, a vending machine, and my car, if needed. The doctor who called me in was careful and efficient -- she examined the finger, and said what I already believed -- it wasn't too deep & hadn't cut any tendons, but did need stitches. She had a good "bedside manner," asking if I needed to lay down, concerned I might faint at the procedure (no, I was fine, but thank you for being concerned). She explained that the lidocaine shot directly on the finger was going to hurt and sting, and yes it did. She stopped to ask if I was okay -- I was being pretty verbal about the pain and waving the uninjured hand around. When I told her I was okay, that this was how I was coping with the pain, she quickly understood and complimented me on it. The stitching went quickly from there. She cleaned up, and stated that she'd send the nurse in to "dress your wound." That nurse was my only real complaint. She took a long time arriving -- the longest wait I'd had all evening, at a time when I was pretty much done and ready to leave. The "dressing" was a simple butterfly band-aid, that didn't fit that well. I had to put on a much more secure "dressing" on it myself when I got home. And gave me a tetanus shot that really hurt and was too high up on my arm (my experience with the last 5 years of vaccinations is that they most often don't hurt when a skilled person is doing it). However, she too was very friendly, and was the most relaxed and chatty of them all, showing real interest in me that seemed genuine. Then someone came in to get my insurance information and talk about payments. When I asked, she explained that they wait until the end to prevent any delays in getting patients' emergencies treated. Definitely have a lot of respect for that approach. So except for a few concerns about the one nurse, all the staff's procedures seemed designed to get you cared for as quickly and comfortably as possible. And it succeeded -- I was there for 90 minutes in all, which has to be a record for emergency rooms, and in the meantime encountered friendly, helpful and competent professionals!

I had gone to my normal doctor's office and a doctor there recommended I go to the hospital to get an ultrasound to see if I had kidney stones. The ER wait was very very long, but I was told almost immediately that a severe emergency was going on next door to me so I have no complaints about that, it was out of their control. Everyone I interacted with was incredibly sweet and patient... except for the two women that gave me my CAT scan. When I first came in one of them wouldn't stop asking me why I hadn't gotten a pregnancy test yet (I never turned one down, the other nurses I spoke to had just agreed with me it was unnecessary) and kept telling me there was no way I could know for a fact I wasn't pregnant if I was sexually active. She kept saying she wasn't going to do the CAT scan until she knew I wasn't pregnant and wouldn't let up until I finally told her I was in a lesbian relationship, to which both of them got noticeably uncomfortable and annoyed. After I got my CAT scan the one that was talking to me saw I had an IUD and demanded to know why I had it. When I said "it's birth control?" she looked at me like I had tricked her, I corrected "it's for maintaining my periods" and she ROLLED HER EYES AT ME. All of this was happening while I had a SEVERE KIDNEY INFECTION and was in some of the worst pain I've experienced in my life. A healthcare professional of all people should know that birth control isn't just for preventing pregnancy. I cannot stress enough that every other person I interacted with was a delight and made me feel cared for, but the unprofessionalism and quite frankly *homophobia* I was treated with by those two women was inexcusable. I didn't get their names, sadly. However! I did get the names of all my nurses throughout my stay -- Abigail, Antonia, and Tamala in unit C2 as well as Leslie, Kim, Tiffany, and Diane in unit C5 were all absolute angels to me and they all deserve raises. Those seven women are the only reason this isn't a one-star review.
