Dr. Akbik offers a variety of interventions in his practice focused on reduction of pain. the pain management plan you develop with him is specific to you and tailored to your healthcare needs. I happen to have a timber of complex,chronic health condisins whose h chronic pain is merely one of a bunch. Dr Akbik really treated you as a whole taking into account the plans of other specialists. His pain mgmt plans consist of so much more than just prescription pain meds. Plans require an actively engaged patient - not just checking in monthly to get pills like some practices. Through a variety of interventions he has given me a quality of life that I never believed possible. I have so much less pain on less medication that I'd been previously prescribed. He cautioned me at the start that my pain hadn't just developed overnight and that the plan to manage that pai. might also take some time and tweaked to the plan till he got it just right. It was so very true- over time the plan morphed into what it is today. I know my needs might change over time but for now I have something that completely manages my pain. Dr. Akbik has been my pain management doctor for over 6 years. So, I have seen him over 72 times in the office and a number of times at the hospital. In that time I have never seen or heard anyone in that office be rude to anyone. . . EVER! I will admit he and the staff will joke around with some of us more than others, but I believe that is because they've know some of us longer than others and most of the time I would say we initiate it. Which makes me believe the staff interaction it's more about time and personality rather than COLOR. Which is absolutely REPULSIVE to even suggest let alone state as it's some kind of fact. UGH! As far as wait times. YES! Sometimes there can be a longer wait. Does that not happen at the nail salon, bank, pharmacy, grocery store, restaurant, lines at King's Island, driving anywhere you want to go and every other doctor's office on the planet? YES!!!! Its true that Dr. Akbik can sometimes be behind schedule and I prepare for that wait because I am smart enough to know that sometimes his daily schedule doesn't go as planned. WOW. . . Neither does mine! Sometimes he needs to spend extra time with a patient because they have something new they need to discuss with him. That has happened with me. Sometimes a procedure doesn't go as smoothly as anticipated. That has happened with me as well, but I firmly believe Dr. Akbik takes as much time as he can with each patient and yes there are times he may even seem rushed and I have been a patient in this office long enough to know its so he CAN get back on schedule so people don't have to wait as long. So to sum this up. If you are looking for a pain management doctor who will do everything he is "legally" permitted to do by the of Ohio to help you manage your pain, I recommend Dr. Akbik. If you are looking for a doctor who is willing to lose their medical license because YOU only want pockets full of pills, you should probably go elsewhere. read more

I can't say enough good about Dr.Akbik and his team. Two years ago I felt hopeless and helpless in regards of my unrelenting chronic pain. I had considered ending things. However, a nurse that worked for Dr.Akbik recommended that I go to see him. I did and soon began to feel hope where I had none previously. Dr.Akbik promised me that he would never give up until he found a solution.I have done everything that he suggested and he has minimized my pain as promised. Mandy, Gabbie, Gemma, Diane have been a blessing and no small part in allowing me to feel hopeful again. I wish I would've done more research before becoming a patient of Dr. Akbik. The staff looks and acts unprofessional. I have been trying for weeks to get information about my treatment plan. I have been getting the runaround so I looked on the patient portal to review my visit summary from my last visit but suspiciously it Is no longer there. I have been a patient of Dr Akbik's for almost 18 years. I have always been treated respectfully. The comment left by the lady trying to say her s.o. was treated bad because of his color is b.s. The doctor himself is a minority as well as many staff members and I have personally seen him treat all patients regardless of race with respect. It is a known policy that if you are over 10 minutes late you will need to reschedule. The receptionist went and got the doctor because sometimes they can make an exception depending on several factors. Sounds like s.o. was late and didn't get their way so let's play the race card. If you're seeking drugs this is not the place to go. I went to Dr. Hansen for years. I was hit by a car and have chronic pain. It wasn't a pill mill. Yes he lost his license. But most people don't know is KY has the highest, actually the number one out of 50 states taking away doctors license's. The politics aim in this country right now is to blame any doctor that gave out pain medication for the heroin crisis we have going on. It's the boarder patrol and the narcotics officer's that are to blame for not catching the people bringing it in to our country. They have shifted the blame so we aren't holding them responsible for what is going on in this country. There were real pill mills. But instead of just going after them they went after every doctor that was giving out prescriptions to people who really needed it. Almost all the pain doctors left. Just closed up or sold their office. I have never taken more of my pain medication. Even days i was in more pain than usual. I always followed my doctor's orders. I'm being punished now because doctor Hansen helped out some of his staff and probably didn't even charge them. Someone got mad that he told them that they had to go see another doctor and he couldn't keep giving them more medication. So they lied about the whole thing and turned him in. When they looked at all the people he was treating it looked like a pill mill. People from around the tri state went to him because there was no were else to go. And he was a very good doctor. People that are leaving bad reviews are mad at him instead of the system of politics that is behind this. Wake up people, you're being sold a bunch of crap. There's a ad on tv right now blaming doctors for a son's death because the kid OD'ed. I had 3 kids. And even when one had to have pain medication for a dental surgery. I gave them the medicine. I didn't hand my teenage kid a bottle of medicine and say here follow the directions. It doesn't make sense that the kid was hooked on the medicine in a month. That's crazy. It's all political. So stop blaming the doctors. read more

I went in today for a second review appointment. The staff including the Dr was very rude! I felt as if I was discriminated against. Upon providing the specimen for the drug test I noticed there were cups of urine in the door and I mentioned how unsafe that was. They handling of the specimens were unsafe for everyone involved. I was repeatedly asked about my drug and alcohol usage although I have no history of such in my file. Nor did I test positive for anything. The assessment process and the extended wait times were ridiculous. I felt so uncomfortable and out of place. It literally brought me to tears. I was thrown out of the office because I refused to be continuously talked down to, and berated. I was being addressed about the same things over and over. The Dr came in the room after I waited over an hour and was equally as rude and demeaning. Just the implications that I felt were made in that room by every individual was so appalling. Respect needs to be earned and today they lost mine! read more

My significant other went in LATE today to his appointment - he was highly aware of how late he was and tried calling to inform the staff that he'd be running late. When he arrived at the doctors office the women at the front desk happened to be very rude, but not to everyone because the person in front of him happened to not be a person of color. They actually joked around with that person . So when he spoke with the two ladies they went to get Dr.Azbik, instead of simply rescheduling his appointment the doctor insulted his intelligence and sarcastically repeated to ask him "what time is it??? " and "what time were you supposed to be here??" As if he was talking to a child! This is absolutely no way to treat a new patient or any patient at all. At that point he no longer even wanted to be a patient at this office. He was the only person of color at the time.He said felt like they were making a joke out of him because he is black rather just rescheduling his appointment. Don't go here! read more
