I needed to use Mercy Health's emergency room last week, due to a cut on my finger late at night that was just bad enough for stitches. Overall, I was very impressed with this clean and caring facility. I expected chaos, crowded misery and a long wait (isn't that the conventional view of a hospital waiting room?) Instead I found great signage so the ER was easy to find, ample convenient parking, and a friendly receptionist who was patient, cheerful, and helpful. Seriously -- she talked to me above and beyond just getting me checked in, and just radiated kindness! They don't take your insurance information at the front door, which was a surprise. She asked just enough about me to get me checked in. Then she called for a med tech to immediately get me stabilized so I could wait comfortably -- which meant cleaning up my finger, & giving me a gauze pad and instructions on how to keep the pressure on the wound. I was told it was "medium busy," -- I'm guessing the wait was about 30 minutes, in a very clean, bright room, which easy access to bathrooms, a vending machine, and my car, if needed. The doctor who called me in was careful and efficient -- she examined the finger, and said what I already believed -- it wasn't too deep & hadn't cut any tendons, but did need stitches. She had a good "bedside manner," asking if I needed to lay down, concerned I might faint at the procedure (no, I was fine, but thank you for being concerned). She explained that the lidocaine shot directly on the finger was going to hurt and sting, and yes it did. She stopped to ask if I was okay -- I was being pretty verbal about the pain and waving the uninjured hand around. When I told her I was okay, that this was how I was coping with the pain, she quickly understood and complimented me on it. The stitching went quickly from there. She cleaned up, and stated that she'd send the nurse in to "dress your wound." That nurse was my only real complaint. She took a long time arriving -- the longest wait I'd had all evening, at a time when I was pretty much done and ready to leave. The "dressing" was a simple butterfly band-aid, that didn't fit that well. I had to put on a much more secure "dressing" on it myself when I got home. And gave me a tetanus shot that really hurt and was too high up on my arm (my experience with the last 5 years of vaccinations is that they most often don't hurt when a skilled person is doing it). However, she too was very friendly, and was the most relaxed and chatty of them all, showing real interest in me that seemed genuine. Then someone came in to get my insurance information and talk about payments. When I asked, she explained that they wait until the end to prevent any delays in getting patients' emergencies treated. Definitely have a lot of respect for that approach. So except for a few concerns about the one nurse, all the staff's procedures seemed designed to get you cared for as quickly and comfortably as possible. And it succeeded -- I was there for 90 minutes in all, which has to be a record for emergency rooms, and in the meantime encountered friendly, helpful and competent professionals! read more

I'm visiting my 91 year old grandfather and part of the visit has been going to appointments after a recent hospital stay. We stopped in to see his cardiologist at Mercy Health and, while I dread doctors offices, this was a positive experience. First off, while the parking lot is busy there is plenty of parking and it's nice that it's free parking as well. I was able to drop my grandpa off at the front door, find a spot and meet him in the office. Once he was checked in we didn't wait long before they took us back to a room. Every staff member we interacted with was kind and attentive and listened to my grandpa patiently and actively listened to his questions, feelings and concerns. They also made sure to explain things in a way that was not condescending and made sure they had all the needed information. We didn't wait too long to see Dr. Brennan, even though they warned us that he was running behind. The doctor was kind, positive and upbeat and with a lot of people giving my grandpa negative information and outcomes he was very optimistic and helped my grandpa feel confident in himself. I'm all for being realistic, but when you have a 91 year old patient being able to tailor your bedside manner to caring for their body and mind is a great thing. Yes, my grandpa won't live forever and he'll have issues but he IS doing great for 91. The doctor made sure to listen to my grandpa, engaged with us and updated the medicines and dosages he was on. He also reminded my grandpa that while he needs to watch his sodium, he can eat whatever he wants. He also gave us a friendly "See you in six months" as he left. At check out the staff was equally friendly and caring and made sure my grandpa's prescriptions would be set and that his follow up appointment was in the books. overall a very pleasant experience considering it was to a hospital. read more

Two visits: Visit 1 routine test: promised test results in 2 days. It's been 15 days. Never got the results. Called and can't get through to office that performed test. Keep getting re-directed. Can't call any office directly. Finally got through to them and I'm told they haven't read my scans yet because they are waiting until scans from 5 years ago show up. No contact to me, no informing me. Very frustrating. Visit 2 routine eye test: I go to my appointment, arriving 15 minutes early. I decline a full eye test as I have different eye insurance that covers that. They do the full eye test anyway (with a person that stated they had never worked on someone with contacts before and was not familiar with bifocal contacts) and finally dilate my eyes. I'm there for 1 1/2 and haven't seen the doctor. BTW- the test I need takes 10 minutes. I've been having it done for 20 years. I had to leave because I had to get back to work. I paid the co-pay and did not get the test or the money back. As I was leaving, they told me 3 hour waits were normal. Cool- then tell people that when they make appointments. OVERALL: Lovely buildings and nice parking, but difficult to work with on every level... And I'd like my $20 co-pay back. read more

This Hospital allowed a nurse practitioner, Pharmacist, discharge nurse & ultimately Surgeon to discharge me post op total knee replacement, with a Known allergic to, unnecessary antibiotic. This resulted in me being re hospitalized with severe nausea, drug induced elevated liver enzymes, pneumonia, dehydration, weight loss,& weakness. NP Meg Bockersette prescribed doxycycline for some unknown reason which greatly hampered my well being & recovery. I had a great experience here at Kyle s station Medical Center. I was putting off getting my heart evaluated and thoroughly checked due to "my fear of family history issues and past drug use. Y'all you have to go see Dr. Kay an excellent cardiologist and Crystal one of his nurses who ran me through the stress test was amazing !I cannot forget the ladies in front Bree &Pam helped me with insurance cards and getting checked in for my appointment. This review is for Mercy West Lab office Easily the worst experience I've ever had - healthcare or otherwise. If you have a complaint about your treatment at this office call complaints @ (513) 215-0044. Todd who works the front desk is verbally aggressive and poorly trained. He misread my doctors test order and gave me the incorrect test kit and instructions, causing delays for my test results. To make things worse when I got the correct test kit and tried to return my second sample for testing Todd refused to accept it and became very aggressive insisting he never makes mistakes. Todd then ordered me to leave or he would call security. It was actually very traumatic to be treated this way as a patient. Luckily my wife was there to get another member of staff who quickly intervened and took my sample. read more

If I could give this facility a 0 I would . In 2021 my daughter had a significant finger injury; bleeding all over the place we took her straight to this ER because it was close. While in the facility which was completely empty no beds in use in the ER nobody in the waiting area the front desk people refused to take my daughter back to start getting examined and treated till I filled the insurance information out (bear in mind she's bleeding on the floor, crying, there's blood all over my shirt). Once in the ER they told us immediately that it's too complex and need to be sent to Children's. They didn't treat her, x-ray her, nothing literally were there for 2-3 mins. We also drove her ourselves there so we didn't get charged for an ambulance. After all said and done saddled with a 1500 dollar bill after insurance took care of its amount left with 400. Flabbergasted at the price for 2-3 mins of non treatment I called the hospital to discuss the charges they said they'll put a note on the file so it doesn't go to collections right away and will call back. Come the following year no phone call but bill is at collections. I call back they said they'll call me back again. This time another year passed life went on things happen I forgot about it (my fault) bill is at a law firm now. I call them again now I get a lady who says it's not in their practice to call back because there are too many people to call back. It's too late to dispute the charges and all I can do is deal with my insurance. Why wasn't this dealt with the first time I called or the second. Mainly why did you even charge us when you did nothing for us. Bottom line don't come here... better to die on the sidewalk than use this hospital. Overall terrible reviews from many people who go here shame the west side has a dud of a hospital to deal with. It's been difficult with the healthcare industry and trust. I've always given the benefit of the doubt for the handwork it takes to be in healthcare. I worked in healthcare before so I know. But this billing practice and negligent customer service from admitting to billing is insane. I was transported to this place after being in a head on crash with a SUV Monday morning, I was in the ER room for over an hour until someone came in to see me which was the police officer who was at the scene, then 10 minutes later the nurse came in to take my vitals. I was in so much pain, they never gave me an ID bracelet, no pain meds for another hour which was one NORCO tablet. I was then sent to CAT SCAN and X-RAY. I was seen by a PAC from a different hospital because they were short staffed. i was told I might have fractured ribs from the point of impact and with the airbags going off in my face. After 4 hours I was sent home with prescription for NAPROXEN, ROBAXIN and 10 tablets for TRAMADOL 50 mg! I was not given an IV or anything, I was in still so much pain.... by Wednesday i decided to have my husband take me to TRI HEALTH BETHESDA in FAIRFIELD, they were so much better. I was given an IV with morphine to help with the pain, given an ID bracelet, taken to CAT SCAN injected with a contrast to see if I had broken bones.... Finally, I was told by a REAL doc that there were no broken bones, just banged up pretty bad. I was sent home with VICODIN not TRAMADOL! To help with the pain.... Were new here. Had a really eye opening experience with Mercy West in Harrison Ohio. Called and for some reason the main number listed on Google routed me to the Emergency room front desk. The lady immediately starts telling me she doesn't know why she keeps getting calls routed to her. I asked if she could then transfer me to the right department. She said no. I asked if she could give me a phone number to a place that could help me. She said no she was too busy. It took her longer to argue with me and complain how she had patients to tend to than it would have taken to just transfer me! I asked her "Well who do I call then because I'm new here and this is the number listed online, I'm just trying to find a Dr for my son." She said she was too busy to assist me. I asked her name and she wouldn't give it to me. I told her I would find out and I hung up. I did some digging and found out her name is Susan. I also found a host of reviews on Google about how rude and unprofessional this ER front desk lady is. Is that kind of stuff normal here? I understand covid messed everything up and now people are swamped. I have compassion for that. But for someone to refuse to push a button to transfer me? So upon arrival with my 10year old daughter I was turned away by the temp screener she said if the emergency was me and not her we have to leave!!! So what about single moms who have no babysitter....??? So I stagger back out to my car in immense pain and call in the hospital and ask for an admin,she says that was not appropriate and has me come back in the hospital, everyone was nice, I was administered and IV and started feeling super bad even worse then how I came in!!!!!!!!!!!Super dizzy and weird like anxious you know? I lay there for like 45 min and they release me to drive home off these meds with my child barely able to talk and refused to let me leave until I use my phone to register when I wasn't even coherent!!!!!! It was a very bad experience from beginning to end my family does not like Mercy at all and I should have stuck to my gut and not went there at all it was an awful experience and I am lucky to be ok, with that drive home.................. I literally prayed the whole ride with my daughter in the back. I wanted to pull over but I could not function at all to speak or anything, just deep breaths and get home was all I could think! I am currently experiencing an ectopic pregnancy. i went to the ER for bleeding and cramping, and they "diagnosed" a threatened miscarriage. They told me to come back if it gets worse or new symptoms appear. my pain is ACTIVELY getting worse, and new symptoms have shown up. i don't know why they said to come back, since they didn't plan on helping me. Some old dude in a white coat came in to my holding room to talk to me and as I was explaining that I came back because I know these things cause internal bleeding and I don't want to die, he kept interrupting me because (I quote) "there are people with actual life threatening things that he has stepped away from to talk to me" uh, the fuck? An ectopic pregnancy IS LIFE THREATENING WHEN THE FALLOPIAN TUBE BURSTS. they must want me to be on the verge of death before they'll help me. I also mentioned that I was worried I would bleed out. He responds "Not in the next two days!". wow. Why is this waste of space even a doctor? He has no compassion at all. This hospital lacks many things but one stands out. Compassion for patients. Except for some nurses or aids. For the most part I wouldn't bring my dog here. The hospitalist dont listen . Wife went in for hip replacement surgery and everything went fine. Problem is there are no hospital beds for her to go to. She's been in recovery for 3 hours and still no where to put her. I'm not allowed to go back to recovery to see her. Why would they proceed with surgery if they didn't have a room scheduled for her ? I've had horrible pain in my lower abdomen for the last two days and went to mercy health west. Never again will I go there. It was dirt with gloves and cotton balls and plastic caps from needles. When they brought me into my room to see a doctor they asked me to go pee in a cup and when I got to my room there was no place to put it and no one to give it to. There was no sheet on the bed and I ask if I could have a sheet I would make it myself. The lady who takes your information said because I didn't have my card she was going to make me sign for self pay instead of doing her damn job and look it up. I am a 57 yr. old professional with a family history of colon cancer. I have been getting a colonoscopy every five years since I was 41. On April 16, 2021, I had my fourth one at a Mercy Health facility (by the same Dr. who did the other three). Shortly after the procedure, I received a bill for $3,200, which I later determined to be MH's facility charge. My insurance provider (Anthem) assured me that my procedure was 100% covered since it was preventative and associated with my family history. They determined that the billing occurred because the colonoscopy was miscoded as "diagnostic", and therefore had to be applied to the diagnostic deductible in my plan. I then called MH billing to explain the issue and get it rectified. They suggested I have my case go through a "coding review", which was unsuccessful. After several more calls to MH, they suggested I "appeal" my case, which did not work either. By this time, it's late fall 2021, and they suggested I have my doctor re-submit the coding, which I did. During the aforementioned period, I continued to receive bills from MH, and eventually, a collection agency started harassing me. In mid-January 2022, I called back to MH Billing to see if it was successfully resolved this time, and the agent said it was....YEAH!!....or so I thought. Today, I received the same bill for $3,200, along with a "FINAL NOTICE" notation, along with an advisement that it would be referred to a collection agency (as though that was going to scare me after what I have already endured! Of course, I had to aggravate myself one more more time by calling MH Billing today, and of course, there advice was that we "re-submit it". I WOULD ADVISE ANYONE READING THIS TO NOT UTILIZE MERCY HEALTH IN ANY REGARD WHATSOEVER. THEY ARE A JOKE IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD. DO NOT REPEAT MY NIGHTMARE. read more

My mother was admitted into the ICU last weekend. She could not breathe and almost died. But thanks to Solomon and Courtney, the nurses and respiratory therapists at Mercy West she has has an amazing recovery. It was a HARD week, but they were so attentive. I had 2 experiences with this ER. The first was when I came by ambulance after a car accident around 6 in the evening. I was treated AWFULLY, I hated every second. The next was 2 days ago, when I came to the ER at 2 in the morning because of excruciating abdominal pain. I was kind of nervous because of my last experience, but this most recent experience was PHENOMENAL. I was extremely sick and my vitals were awful. The tech immediately got a doctor. I was put back into a room in less than 2 minutes after the tech checking my vitals. It took a little bit to see my nurse, but I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt because she was probably busy as there were other patients. I got tests done and all of my meds in quickly. My nurse was incredible, and the doctor actually spent time with me explaining what was going on. So, if I ever have to go back again, I guess I'll go in at night! read more

Dr John Jacquemin is excellent, however the support staff from Mercy leaves alot to be desired. They scheduled a whole surgery in 8 days but tried to take 7 days to give a doctors note for my HR director. It gives the feeling of being a number rather than a man getting ready to get cut open for the first time in his life at 37. Doctors and nurses are first class, the support staff including the scheduler, need to remember that the patient is a "customer" of sorts. I wouldnt even give 1 star for my experience. I'm pregnant and suffer from a chronic illness, so I had to go in due to being dehydrated. It was in the evening so the ER was where I checked in. I told them my doc had requested fluids on the maternity floor and so a nurse came down to get me and when the doors opened all I hear is "ma'am she's here for you" and I couldn't tell if she was looking at me or someone behind me and I THOUGHT they would call me by my name? So I said oh me and stated my name to make sure it was me they were looking for! Most awkward thing ever. So then the lady is looking at me confused, you are going to the maternity floor? And checking to see if I had a big belly... I had to tell her I'm only 10 weeks and told her I also have this disease so I'm dehydrated... I get up to the floor and another nurse comes in, Tammy. I thought she was some what nice, being personable with me. Well she goes to give me my IV... I told her I usually get it in the crease of my arm but where ever you have to go is fine. ( I'm use to getting infusions for my other medications so the IV part isn't so bad. Use to them) well she tells me she can't do the crease of my arm.. so she does one on top of my arm.. feels like metal rod scrapping up my whole vein. BLOWS that vein. I'm like ok, that happens. Whatever. Goes to a vein on top of my hand. Hurts like actual hell. Doesn't feel right at all but its working and I'm getting the fluids. I get home around 12pm, go to bed and wake up about 330am, go pee and look down at my hand and there's huge swelling the size of an egg on top of my hand. Go back to bed, wake up the next morning and it's just bruised, the swelling had went down. My whole hand had been bruised for a week now!! And my arm! Like I said, I'm use to IVs and a little bit of bruising. I'll post pictures.... I just want to say DO NOT GO HERE unless you need a band-aid... read more

This is a very good up to date hospital the place was very clean the staff was very friendly and caring. The rooms are fantastic very modern. The food was well prepared and hot plus you can place your order and get it within 25 minutes. The only complaint I have is not enough handicap parking. The do have free valet parking. I came into the ER for low blood sugar via an ambulance. My nurse was okay and my doctor was awesome and friendly. The reason they are getting one star is when I was rushed to the ER it was morning and I didn't have my contacts in. I asked when I was discharged how to get the the ER exit, the lady laughed and said follow the signs. I said I don't have contacts in should I go left or right at the end. She said it's not that hard follow the doors and you'll find yourself outside good luck. The rudest thing someone who is cleaning out trash bins in patients rooms could say. As well as this a patient next door to me was fighting (physically) with a nurse and I'm not sure who was at fault but after it settled down. All the nurses were gathered being extremely loud outside the room talking about the patient and expected her to not react when 8 ppl are standing there talking down on her.
