I was in the market for a Jeep. I did some research and drove a couple and had an idea I knew what I was looking for. I stopped by Select Jeeps to look around. There wasn't a particular vehicle I was looking at. TJ, a salesman approached and we started a conversation. I asked where the scratch and dent selection was. He took me around back and showed me my Jeep. A 2006 6 speed with 111k miles. It's not the prettiest. Has some scratches. But the motor is strong and it hadn't been messed with too much. I asked how much and the price was reasonable. I learned a lot that day. Select Jeeps charges a bit more for their Jeeps. Reason? They stand behind them. Travis and the other mechanics have fixed 3 different issues that I know of. Thermostat, a fuel issue, and gave me a new gas cap. This is after the sale. A week after the sale. On the day I picked it up I was out in an abandoned lot playing in the mid and hit a can of paint. It went all over the underside and drivers door and rock rail. It was purple paint ona green and black jeep. Travis cleaned what he could and repainted the underside. This was not only above and beyond, they just did it. Yes I was scared off by sticker shock. I recently purchased a 1988 Jeep Wrangler from a man in Pasadena off Craigs List to keep and use at my Deer Lease. I turned out to be a big mistake. After driving it home I suspected it had a transmission issue and maybe a few other problems. A guy at the mechanics shop I use suggested I take it to Select Jeeps because they could direct me to the best and most reasonable transmission shop that specializes in Jeeps. So I took it there and Matt the Manager met with me and drove my jeep. He agreed that the transmission had to be rebuilt and also had Travis his Mechanic drive it. Travis made some phone calls for me to a few Transmission Shops he recommended to confirm they could handle rebuild on my 1988 Wrangler. These guys were Great! They were very patient with me and answered many questions I had even though I wasn't buy from them. They are definitely Jeep Experts!!! The shop Travis sent me to did a good job on the rebuild and at a fair price. I highly recommend these guys! read more

Boy did I get a lemon. 04 Wrangler TJ 6 months in had to put 2500.00 rear end in it. The transmission won't stay in reverse. The third brake light didn't even have wires to it dont know how they got it inspected. The suspension lift needs a total replacement. The speedo and odometer are not correct as with the 33 inch tires it was never recalibrated or gear changed out. Cosmetics were great kinda lipstick on a pig. Wish I had taken it to a mechanic my bad. read more

When I contacted Select Jeeps I knew the type of Wrangler I was looking for, and they had just gotten one. TJ answered all of my questions honestly and quickly. He was very forthcoming about any imperfections I inquired about and sent me photos of everything I requested. This sale was done 100% over the phone or via email. I had my Jeep delivered to me right to my front door. I have not had to email or call them to ask any questions, but I do feel that I could if I needed to. This guys sold me a lemon, and I 100% believe they knew it. I bought a 2008 Jeep Wrangler about a 1.5 years ago and within 100 miles of driving it the engine light came on... have struggled since and made several trips to the shop. What I came to find out is that when the light is reset, it takes about 100 miles for the computer to rerun the diagnostics. the Vehicle is full of little hacks here and there. wish I did a better job with due diligence and now I'm going to take a massive loss on this vehicle. read more

Recently I was in the market for a Jeep. I did a lot of research and it seems that the used Jeep Wrangler market it pretty thin. Many dealerships have one or two listed online, and when you get there those Wranglers are nonexistent. I found Select Jeeps online, and I thought I would check it out because of their large inventory. Upon arrival I was impressed that they had over 20 Wrangler, and the inventory listed online was the same as was sitting on the lot. I was greeted by TJ, who showed me a ton of different Jeeps and was very knowledgeable about all of them. I settled on a 2005 Wrangler Unlimited, and I am very happy with my purchase. I was happy and excited and proud to be able to purchase a Jeep for my mother. And I was equally enthusiastic about being able to get it from Select Jeeps, a place that I'd admired from online for the last couple of years. Alas, my experience with them turned to ash in my mouth just a few months after our purchase. I bought a 2007 Jeep Wrangler from Select Jeep toward the end of last year. It ended up being about $20K, which we paid in cash. It was very attractive and seemed to be in very good condition. On the way home, we heard a tinking noise coming from the engine, but assumed it to be just simple settling. (Upon purchase, we were told that the Jeeps were sold without warranty but that their Jeeps underwent a rigorous testing before being sold so there wasn't anything to worry about. Perhaps I was being naive, but I believed the salesman.) As time went on, the sound --a sort of light rubbing-- continued. We decided to get it checked out and were extremely sad to find out that the sound that we'd thought was nothing ending up being a very, very big something. Metals shavings had been rubbed off and were inside the engine. I'd like to be able to give you a more detailed telling of the problem, but I was so floored by the turn of events that my head was swimming as I had the issue explained to me. The main part of the conversation was very clear, though: We were told we had to replace the entire engine. We had it looked at a couple of different times and each said the same thing. I emailed Select to let them know what had happened and to express my disappointment. It took a couple of days before I heard back, and when I did it was just a person calling to say that he was sorry for what had happened. Again, this was just a handful of months after purchase, and from a problem that was apparently there from the onset. We paid to replace the engine (the engine alone cost about $3K) and had all of the work done. I'm not sure what I expected Select to do, but it certainly wasn't to ignore us, that's for sure. I wish that things hadn't worked out the way that they did. I wish I still felt safe and confident in purchasing a Jeep from Select, particularly as I browse the selection at Carmax, which is where I plan on purchasing my next car in the coming weeks. I wish that this experience, which started out as a profoundly proud moment, had not devolved into a nightmare. But it has. I couldn't be more disappointed. I couldn't be more hurt. Just had some dealings with Select and I wanted to share my experience. First of all let me say I have absolutely no affiliation with these guys and had never met any of them before my purchase. Ok so being a local I've driven past this dealer countless times, dreaming about owning one of their incredible toys. When it came time for me to make a change (trading truck for jeep) Select was my first stop and they did not disappoint. I originally went into the dealer with very specific requirements. All I really required was a 6-Speed LJ in decent shape. I thought I had found the Jeep for me but after much discussion I decided to consider some others. Matt,my salesman was incredibly helpful and encouraged me to drive every Jeep on the lot if I felt so inclined and I actually drove a half dozen. In the end I decided on an '06 6-Speed Rubicon. The negotiation was very easy just as I expected. Up until this point I was of course happy with the service I had received I figured that was about it. It turns out Jeep came with a couple small issues, all of which were wear items. I FULLY expected to be left picking up the tab on the repairs at least partially as this was of course an "As-Is" sale. This is where the Select Jeeps service really shows. I spoke to Davin about the issues I was having and he was very willing to volunteer to make all repairs at their cost 100%. There's no denying that you can of course do some searching around and probably find some cheaper prices than Select offers but let me just tell you, don't bother. I had a great feeling going into my purchase that Select was worth the higher, yet very fair prices. I've purchased a LOT of vehicles in my day and I've never had a better experience than I've had with these guys. There isnt many dealers where you can get a working older wrangler and pay under 15k. This place could be it. Not so much in my case. Have your opted vehicle checked by an unaffiliated mechanic before you buy it. I paid almost twice the kbb value for a vehicle that needed another 2k(and still counting) to keep it going safely right after it made it home. Cracked exhaust manifold, dead cat conv, electrical problems, water in front differential. Apparently it passed the state and their own advertised inspection when they put it up for sale. read more
