Carlo and I decided to try this place because of the HUGE Sumo wrestler statue at the entrance. The ground floor was a fast food japanese restaurant before and I was surprised that Sekitori has now taken over the whole space.
We were not sure what to order but, our severs recommended the Chanko! Chanko Nabe or 'Sumo Stew" is the original sumo food. The recipe for Chanko is actually healthy, low in fat and loaded with veggies. Also, they only use chicken for the soup! You know why? They believed that eating an animal that walks only on two legs will help a sumo stay on his feet (LOL!). Since it was our first time, we decided to eat the Chanko Salt-based Soup. When the order arrived, oh wow, it was HUGE! I mean, they said it was good for 2 but, seriously, look at the photos. That meal could have fed 6 people! The Chanko was packed with vegetables, pork strips, crab, shrimp and fish slices. The soup was delicious! The sauce they give you to dip the veggies and meat really brought our the flavors of the food. The order also comes with bowls of rice. The food was good but, really, I do not have the stomach capacity of a Sumo wrestler! :P read more
