Hayashi rice made from ingredients sourced from Seiwa

Do you want to avoid the chaotic energy and crowd that Tokyo Central and Mitsuwa has? Are you just wanting to get Japanese grocery items and not want food court or hot food bar? You have come to the right place! I love going to Seiwa Market over the above mentioned Japanese grocery stores for a few reasons. The aisles are vertically set up and widely spaced apart. It's not crowded in the store and the lines are short and efficient. I don't get lost or frustrated going around the store looking for something. It's really quite nice how calming the atmosphere is. The store associates are eager to help and everything is neat and organized inside. I appreciate how inexpensive the meat prices are. I made heaps of hayashi rice recently by getting ingredients all from Seiwa. I basically spent less than $15 for 10-12 servings worth of meal, meat price included. They have 20% off meat prices every Friday. Crazy knowing their regular meat prices are already very inexpensive. The store also offers some of the Cream Pan bakery items. I can't recommend Seiwa enough!

you absolutely have to come here - crazy big selection (sushi, bento, plates, snacks, drinks, etc.) - doesn't feel cramped like tokyo central, easy to navigate & well decorated - cashiers are fast & very helpful, knowledgeable about the locations of products

Very happy to have found this little gem in Costa Mesa! I was searching for a specific Japanese snack and they had it! It was so great and I found out they carry other flavors imported from Japan. I also bought some other snacks that so far have turned out great (wasabi-flavored sesame sticks)! The place was very clean and the lady who rung me up was very knowledgeable about the products and store history. I think she said they had been there about 6 years which I was impressed to hear! They had such a wide variety at the store and I'd love to go back and try some other snacks, venture over to the desserts and then maybe try my hand at cooking some of their unique meats/seafood! 10/10 recommend!

Nice Japanese supermarket to shop. Smaller than Tokyo Cwnteal but you get the same items. I've noticed snacks here are a bit cheaper and are always stocked. Staff also friendly and very helpful. Fresh produce and bakery items. There's also a large frozen food selection and snacks to peruse. They even have a small skincare section. So if you want quick shopping and easy check out, come here.

Back in the day, this store used to be Fresh & Easy. I loved that lil store & am so sad they are gone. I get all the feels when I go into Seiwa & see remnants of F&E signage inside. Time has passed & now a small local Japanese store exists here. The location is super convenient - right off the 405 & next to other places to eat. I've been here a handful of times & this place is never crowded which I love. It's clean inside & spacious. My first visit to this lil store I picked up some ceramics. There is a small non food aisle ! I wouldn't say it's amazing like Tokyo Central, but it's there. What is the real secret, the gold mine, is the meat section. My most recent discovery is the Friday meat specials. Every Friday there's a 20% discount on most of the meat. Can't get better than that ! I have been to many other asian grocery stores & I never found beef belly...until I looked here ! Sliced thin & oh so delicious, it can be cooked in hot pot or kbbq. For $7.99 a pound the price is right ~ Yes, stock up ! Found my new place to get kbbq/hot pot meats - hehe no more going broke at hmart !

I have to be honest, I usually go to Tokyo Central for my Japanese goods. But this particular day, I ventured into Seiwa hoping they had the produceTokyo Central ran out of... Lo and behold, Seiwa had it! I was impressed and so happy. Anyway, Seiwa is super low key this day, unlike Tokyo Central which is always crazy busy. Seiwa has a good amount of food items rather than non-food items. Produce is pretty well stocked, and also includes organics, which I prefer if available. Chilled perishables are housed in glass-door fridges and very organized. There is a good selection of sake and liquors. Perfect for gifting. Meat and fish department looked ok. I will need to check it out next time around. There are tons of snack foods and sweets. There is something for everyone in this aisle. Again, this would be fun to make a gift basket with an assortment of snacks and sake or teas and coffee. So many ideas. Come see for yourself. You are sure to walk out with a bagload!

I was in the area for the OC Half Marathon and stopped in here to pick up some Japanese snacks. It's a fairly small and clean grocery store located in the same parking lot as Chick-fil-A. I found the store to be well organized and well stocked. They definitely had a good selection of snacks from which to choose with very reasonable prices! The cashier was very nice and friendly.

Looking for some coconut jelly to make some mango sago. They have a variety of fresh vegetables and fruit. They have a variety of food that I would not frequently find at the usual grocery store. Service is friendly and very helpful! The people working there helped me find what I needed and was kind.

Pretty good

This market is kind of small (replaced fresh and easy), but easy to get to with plenty of parking. They also sell Cream Pan pastries, so I don't have to go all the way to Tustin! I used to frequent this market for quick essentials without needing to go all the way to Mitsuwa or H-Mart. They also have tasty Kaisen Don Buri options to select from for a quick meal. I used to get these all the time.

Cactus, purslane, shishito peppers, fresh green garbanzo beans, and other uncommon produce were available. They surprisingly even have a caviar section in the refrigerated service counter next to the Mexican cheeses. My relatives also told me that Super King is owned by an Armenian family so that's why you can also find some middle eastern and central asian spices, sweets/snacks - like dubai chocolate, and teas among their items for sale. I really liked this grocery store, it was very clean, bright, well-organized, spacious, and had very reasonable prices. Plenty of parking is outside as they share a parking lot with other stores and dining venues in a sizable outdoor shopping plaza.

During late fall, there is only bananas, melons berries, etc. in most stores. Fuyu persimmons, the higher fiber, juicy fruit you can eat like an apple or wait till it's like pudding, is on it's way out till next year. At Super King, there were lots of them for $1.69 a pound. Albertson's had them for $5 for 2 pounds or $2.50 a pound. Dragon Fruit was $1.99 a pound, usually around $4-5 a pound at the supers. The best cucumbers, Persian, were $1.79 a pound and up to twice as much at supers. I bought a honeydew melon for about $2, and it was great selling for about twice as much at Alberston's. Their Satsuma tangerines were a great buy and super sweet and juicy - pick those that are heavy for their size, with a deep orange color. I have never bought any meats but in the past, they've had some beef and pork parts you don't see in most supers. lots of Mexican and International items. I have had several of their pastries, most are pretty good and prices are fair. They have lots of specials on groceries that they place at end of aisle. I really like that they have a line for those with 15 or less. I was in and out of the check out line in 5 minutes. but during peak times it could take a lot longer. Lots of fast food places and McDonald's in this mini mall. The parking lot can be crazy.

Long awaited review as I have been coming here for decades. There are so many markets all over…read moreLittle Saigon, however, I keep gravitating here. Seems to me, it is less crowded than other markets. (If I can avoid crowds, I will). It was Tet New Year season and I needed to get a few ingredients for some dishes I planned to cook. My first priority was the fresh oxtail in the meat department. I have gone to many markets for this cut and it seems this is the best place for a ~2 pound tray of mixed size tails. The fat is all trimmed off, as opposed to other markets that leave a fat layer behind that you are paying for. It also depends on if you prefer leaner tails. Next, the produce section. I picked up some cailan (Chinese broccoli). For the most part, the Asian veggies are pretty fresh - since there is a higher turnover rate of Asian veggies in this area. It was good on this day. So many varieties of green veggies, I love it! The fruit section is also pretty impressive. Papayas, guanabana, dragon fruit, pommelo, tangerines, korean pear, manzano bananas,...Not your ordinary apples and oranges. Dry goods include a plethora of rice, including Thai sweet rice, Japanese rice (perfect for sushi rice), red rice (known for high fiber and low glycemic index)... Who likes Chinese Style sausage? Me! It is called Lap Xuong, in Vietnamese. I love making Thai sweet rice and serve with thinly sliced Lap Xuong - my mom fed us kids this often! And yes, they have a good supply of this here, so stock up, it will last forever in the pantry. Vietnam is the world's second largest coffee producer. You will see the crazy amount of coffee products sold here, for example, Vinacafe. Most are packed as individual serving packets which includes cream and sugar. Too convenient for consumption! Also perfect to have in your pantry. You shall be impressed with the chili aisle. Sambal of all kinds. You can make an awesome pot of chili with this heat! Lots of Lunar New Year items too. I am sure there are still some left for purchase if you didn't have a chance to pick some up yet. They do have a liquor department too. Asians can drink iykyk. If you do, please don't drink and drive. Parking is ok, if you go shopping off peak hours. Market is on Beach Boulevard and it could get pretty busy so plan wisely. So enjoy your visit. It is always fun to discover a new product and try something you have never eaten before!

The store itself is smaller if you compare it with places like Shun Fat Westminster Superstore or Hòa Bình supermarket. There is only one checkout counter and the staff all seem to be Vietnamese. After walking around, they pretty much have all the basics covered. The focus is Vietnamese and Southeast Asian ingredients and sauces. They have their own seafood and meat counter with number tags where you can ask them to clean or cut fish, plus a small deli to go section. I also noticed their delivery vehicle outside that says wholesale, so it seems like they also supply restaurants in the area. Overall it feels like a neighborhood market that also does some wholesale business. The fresh section looked clean and there was no strong smell. I happened to see ground pork on sale for $2.49 per pound. The regular price was $2.79. Of course I had just paid $3.99 per pound earlier that day at 99 Ranch in Irvine because I wanted convenience. While we were there, a Vietnamese lady next to us was buying a big pile of meat and seafood and chatting with us while waiting for it to be cut. She said she always shops here. She ended up buying the last of the ground pork in the display. We asked if there was any left and the butcher said he had more in the back, so we immediately decided to grab two pounds. I think this place is perfect if you do not want to push a cart around a huge store and just need to pick up a few items quickly. They are open until 8pm. Next time I have more time I will come back and explore a bit more to see what other interesting things they carry.
