    Tasted off - throwing away
    Kelly K.

I have come back several times to shop here and try their prepared foods. The first two times I purchased the chicken karaage, I was very impressed. It was delicious and quickly became one of my favorite items. Unfortunately, the last two times have been disappointing, with this most recent experience likely being my last time purchasing it. I bought a 5 ounce package, reheated it today, and it was inedible. The use by date is tomorrow, but I actually had to spit it out. The breading tasted old, and the chicken itself tasted stale. It did not seem as fresh as it should have been when it was packaged. There was also a noticeable amount of chicken fat left on it, which really tasted off. I have also purchased the sushi here, which was initially excellent quality. However, my last sushi purchase had very dry rice, making me wonder if the rice was old or overcooked. Because of that experience, I decided not to buy sushi this time. I did enjoy a bento box yesterday with rice, salmon, and vegetable sides, so the quality can be very good. However, the inconsistency is concerning, especially given the prices. The prepared foods are not inexpensive, and I expect better quality control. Paying $6 for a small portion of chicken karaage that I cannot eat is disappointing. I also considered buying one of their cooked sweet potatoes, but at $6.99 per pound compared with $2.99 per pound for a raw sweet potato, the price difference was hard to justify. Since a sweet potato can easily be cooked at home in the microwave in about five minutes, I chose to make my own and save the money. I hope the store can improve consistency because when the food is fresh, it is genuinely very good. I did find my favorite cookies and a new favorite...delicious black sesame wafers. And some frozen edamame that I like. Also purchased their sliced meat that is high quality and convenient to cook. I will return though I am less likely now to pick up prepared foods.

I went in there for snacks and ended up chatting with my cashier, she was super sweet and we had a wonderful time bonding over cats. Thank you Cashier Bestie for such a fun time, you're a real one!

A gorgeous Tokyo Central located in the heart of Torrance, this location features a variety of vendors including small eateries, restaurants and of course the famous Japanese grocery store which features products, snacks and drinks from all over Japan. I often frequent this store as it is close to my residence and has high quality, affordable ware. I highly recommend this place if looking for a good Asian grocery market in the area!

This store offers so much selection! I love browsing, especially checking out their sake, cooked food section, and snacks. I found Ozeki Ikezo Sake Jelly Shots in both three-packs and individual cans.

This roughly the same size as the Gardena Tokyo Central. The food and the restaurants are different which I appreciate. The differences make this location special. Overall, this is my favorite Tokyo Central location.

What an amazing store!! They have everything and I mean everything. We came here to grab a few boxes of chocolate and found goodies galore. The place is kept very clean, service is fantastic and the workers are very helpful. Prices are comparable to most other stores, but the quality is definitely great. Come on by and try this gem that is anything but hidden. You will find hot lunch, cold lunch, take away, snacks, chocolates.. anything! Definitely a new go to.

This is the best Tokyo Central in all the land. First of all, the sushi selection is insane. Should you want it in bowl, sashimi, or roll form - they have it all. We did all of the above: king salmon & ikura don ($16.99), yellowtail sashimi ($8.45), Cali & spicy tuna combo. The yellowtail sashimi is such a good deal. For under $10 bucks, you get 6 slices of incredibly fresh yellowtail. And dare I say - the Cali & spicy tuna combo is where it's at. Refreshingly unpretentious and to eat both felt indulgent. Highly recommend. And the hot bar. The hot bar is the reason why you should come. Not only do they have an extensive selection of food - both Japanese and Americanized options - the offerings get swapped out! Mid meal! When we left, instead of breaded fried fish, they swapped it out for Wagyu sliders! And fries! Like what?!? Mind blowing. Everything we tried was tasty and tastier. Perfect if you're looking for an easy, high quality meal. I'm obsessed this Tokyo Central location and you will be too.

I was in the area on a Friday morning and wanted to check out their premade bento/sushi, but stumbled upon a hot bar. This is the biggest Tokyo Central I've been to, I've never seen a hot bar section either. There wasn't signs that listed the prices of the hot bar, but it was pay per pound. Since I was there in the morning a lot of the stuff was fresh and there was more variety. I liked everything I tried and found that some of the items were better than food I've had at restaurants. ig: @cravingswithcat

Loved visiting the PCH Tokyo Central. It's so interesting to me that every Tokyo Central stores are different. This location had a strong emphasis on fresh fish selection. I wish I had brought my insulated bags with ice packs because I would have loved to purchase some raw fish and karaage cut ready to use raw chicken. Both items were of good value and perfect to make poke or oyakodon. The store itself is very well organized and well stocked I really liked how the aisles were set up in a more vertical manner. Many of the Tokyo Central stores are more of a mix of horse shoe aisles configuration with extra mix of horizontal/vertical aisles. It can be confusing and disorienting but not so at the PCH location. I think it helps with customer traffic and flow because compared to the Gardena location, it feels less overwhelming. I also really liked the hot food bar selection and would love to return again armed with insulated bags. Some of the meat items were very good values even compared with the nearby Nijiya store. Parking is also free and checkout was very fast too. No lines for both self checkout and in-person cash register. Food court has a nice selection of sit down restaurant, ramen, Wafu spaghetti shop, and sweets shop. In sum, what is there not to love?

What a gem when visiting my hometown Torrance! It's a great place to shop for groceries, Japanese beauty products and also a fabulous place to dine. The place offers in dining options as well as hot food and fresh sashimi/sushi on the go. I've had the opportunity to try their sashimi and it was delightful, very meaty and fresh fish: tuna, salmon and yellow tail. Sushi and sashimi options were fantastic- it's a must try! There are plenty of tables to sit and dine in and the bathrooms are clean. I can't wait to come back to try their hot food corner along with the food court which provides Japanese spaghetti, fresh rice Yasuda, Onodera Ramen, and Kimukatsu restaurant. Options are plenty! Parking is easy, and the staffs were helpful when I needed to find certain items at the store. Hope you get the opportunity to try Tokyo Central on PCH. Have fun shopping and Bon appetite!

Loved this market , it instantly brought me back to my days in Japan. We stopped by to check it out and ended up finding so many delicious food and drink options that we came back the very next day. The seafood section (sushi, sashimi, onigiri, etc.) was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. We also discovered the hot foods buffet ($10 per pound), where every item we tried was well prepared and absolutely scrumptious. Great service, very clean, and well illuminated, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Prices are reasonable, and here's a bonus tip: after 7:00 PM, most food items are 20% off , the perfect excuse to indulge a little more!

If you are a fanatic about all things Asian or want to try all things Asian, this is a place to go. Walls of great Asian drinks things from my childhood that I haven't seen in ages are here the cookie and the chip aisle goes on and on this is not Tokyo Central. This is junk food central!! Give yourself a ton of time to enjoy every aisle.

Super great! Such a huge selection of sushi, sashimi, hot bar, and even premade food that you can microwave right here in the food court! After 5 pm, all the food made during the day is 20% off. I like to walk to the frozen dessert section & get a little dessert too

Will the new Tokyo Central in Irvine have a food court?

Based on what they posted on their IG. Looks like it will.

I was really curious as to how I could shop and walk out without scanning and paying at a checkout. Apparently, there are cameras and shelves are weighted, supposedly. If something is removed, it's assumed that I was purchasing it. There were helpful employees ready to answer questions, and they offered free reusable bags for me to use. I walked out with a few things and a receipt was emailed to me hours later. I was also able to see the itemized receipt on my Amazon purchase history. There was a minor mistake on the receipt for some taco seasoning that I was charged for since I picked it up to look at, but put it back without purchasing. Not a big deal since I got other items on sale. It was an interesting concept overall.

Review #865 2025-037…read more Amazon Go is a convenience store that utilizes "Just Walk Out" technology, allowing customers to shop without the need for traditional checkout lines. Using the Amazon app, customers enter the store, select items for purchase, & walk out; their Amazon account will automatically be charged. When this sounds great & seems convenient, I feel the same as Rick S. re: ID surrender & biometrics for tracking & data capture. Payment options vary by individual store. They include: Amazon app, Amazon One, credit card, cash or SNAP/EBT (these options require a store employee to process). The convenience store welcomes everyone, even if you're not a Prime member or don't an Amazon account. If everyone includes kids, who's checking the ID if you buy alcohol? Is it the same as the entry; scan your Amazon app or Amazon One? Knowing some teen miscreants, they might try to figure on how to use the parents' info so they can buy booze. I've been here a few times, mainly to drop-off my manager's Amazon returns, & only made 1 purchase (ICEE for my 8 YO) prior to the current Amazon One kiosk/technology that scans your palm; I don't have an Amazon account & was required to scan my cc before I was able to enter the store. "Just Walk Out" technology allows you to shop like normal, except you skip the traditional checkout/register. My main concern is how accurately are you being charged since traditional grocery stores have made errors, especially with sale items or if you changed your mind & put something back. I would assume Amazon Go will also offer sales to entice more traffic flow. With this convenient check-out, how likely are you going to review the receipt & how accurate is this technology? If you shopped with your Amazon app, or a cc saved to an Amazon account, you'll receive an email when the receipt is ready. If you shopped with a cc, you can look up your receipt at: amazon.com/receipts. If you're a traditionalist, you supposedly can flag a store employee upon entry for them to open the gate for you. "Just Walk Out" is so advanced that you can shop with others. Just scan or swipe in once, then enter the gate together. Any items grabbed by you or your party that entered with you will be charged to the payment source used to open the gate. I'm sure this has been beta-tested, but what if someone squeezes in behind you/your group? That's the paranoid skeptic in me, & I will wait/watch the gate close behind me before I go about shopping. What if this person behind you is quick, comes in right after you & grabs whatever is closest to the exit & takes off? I'm not a regular shopper (& don't intend to), mainly using this store for returns, so my review may not be helpful to those "on the go" that love this techy convenience.

Absolutely, hands down, the WORST place to have handle your prescriptions. I would love to give…read morethe "pharmacy manager" Lee a negative 100 stars. She has ZERO people skills, no customer service abilities and has no business being a manager of any sort. I have been coming here for almost 30 years and their management in their pharmacy has left a lot to be desired. Their prior manager, Paul had absolutely zero people skills as well. Looks like they went from bad to worse with Lee. Not only did she hang up in my face, prior to that she refused to listen to what I needed before putting me on hold and coming back with a holier than thou attitude in every word coming out of her mouth. Details: I ordered a prescription to be delivered yesterday and paid for it. It was supposed to be delivered before close of business yesterday. This morning I get a text asking if I'm still picking up my RX. I replied no since it was supposed to be delivered as I paid for it already. Immediately I received another text saying ok we cancelled your order, let us know when you want it refilled. Naturally I called because I need my prescription and I had ordered and paid for it yesterday. I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Lee. Instead of listening to my question, she kept saying things that had nothing to do with my problem. I got frustrated and raised my voice a little to try to get her to listen to me and she then WENT OFF on me. I asked for the manager and she said "I am the manager" and hung up on me. This was a very simple error on their part that could've been easily handled and should not have ruined anyone's day. People who go to a pharmacy for prescriptions should not be treated the way Lee treats people. I have cancer (in remission), coronary heart disease, anemia, and a plethora of other ailments that I need medicine for. I don't need the stress of having to listen to someone like Lee tell me to check with my credit card company to see if a payment has gone through when it had nothing to do with what I needed. Of course my credit card went through, I'm on express pay with the pharmacy! Not only are her customer service skills, and people skills waning, her thinking process apparently wasn't working today either. This is my last straw with this pharmacy. I have gotten many different solicitations to have my prescriptions delivered by mail free of charge by various different companies. I am definitely going to look into those because I am not ever going to deal with Lee again. I have way too many health problems to have to be verbally abused and berated by my pharmacist. Photo of the text is below so you can see it should've been an easy problem that was resolved, instead of Lee making it a horrible experience.
