We really wanted to support a small business, but unfortunately, our experience was extremely frustrating and ultimately disappointing. We placed our shutter order in early April and were initially given a delivery date of 6/18, with installation scheduled for 7/7. When that date came and went, the installation was rescheduled for 8/5. Despite having a new installation date scheduled, the shutters still had not arrived. At that point, it had been approximately four months since we placed our order. Throughout the process, communication was a major issue. We consistently had to reach out ourselves for updates rather than receiving proactive communication about the delays. We also had to take time off work for scheduled installations that ultimately could not happen, which was both inconvenient and costly. Eventually, we reached a point where we no longer felt comfortable moving forward and requested a full refund of our 50% deposit. Unfortunately, after requesting the refund, our messages were no longer being answered, and we were essentially left without a resolution. Because we could not get a response or resolve the issue directly in a timely manner, we ultimately had to dispute the charge. We ended up going with another company instead and they completed our shutters in approximately three weeks. Having now gone through the process with another company, I learned firsthand that getting shutters delivered and installed does not necessarily have to take months. The second company was able to complete our project in about three weeks, and the overall experience was significantly smoother. I genuinely believe in supporting small businesses, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. I understand that delays can happen, especially with custom products, but clear communication, realistic timelines, and responsiveness when a customer has a legitimate concern are incredibly important. Based on our experience, we would strongly encourage anyone considering this company to carefully ask about current lead times, delivery expectations, communication during delays, and the refund process before placing an order. We personally would not feel comfortable using this business again. read more

I'd like to update a three star review I left last month mostly for non-responsiveness to a repair request. One of the battery had an issues with golding a charge on the roller. Trevor did reach out shortly after that review was left and we clarified that we should still be under warranty because the work was done within the year. He ordered the new part and installed it a few weeks later. This is the second time for replacement on this part, so hoping it will hold going forward. read more

SEI Window Coverings - Shutters Near Me

I spent over $10,700 on a combination of motorized and manual window shades for my home. While the shades themselves are generally acceptable, the customer service and overall project execution were below expectations for a project of this cost. After the initial down payment was made, communication became inconsistent. I did not receive proactive updates for approximately two to four weeks and had to reach out myself to inquire about the order status. When I did, I was told that "it hasn't been that long," despite the lack of communication. Given the significant financial investment, I expected more timely and professional updates. The installation was completed over a month ago, but the job remains unfinished. The manual shades were installed without the required lift handles, which have still not been provided. Additionally, wall damage occurred during installation due to ladders being used without protective coverings. These issues have not yet been repaired. After installation, I noticed that several shades were not properly centered, most noticeably in the kitchen. When this was raised, I was told by the installer's assistant that the primary installer had already left and that I should "see if I could live with it," with the possibility of correcting it at a later date. This response did not reflect a commitment to quality workmanship. There were also concerns regarding professionalism during the installation process, including disorganization and a lack of basic courtesy while working inside my home. During our interactions, I was informed that the business had been established by the owner's father and later passed on to him and his brother. Based on my experience, the level of service and follow-through I received does not appear consistent with what one would expect from a company built on a reputation for quality. Given the cost of the project, the incomplete work, unresolved damage, poor communication, and overall lack of professionalism, I would not recommend this business. read more

Trevor is a great guy and shutter installer. Excellent communication and pleasure to deal with. Would recommend to my friends and family.

First, I need to apologize to Trevor who is the owner of SEI Window Coverings. I posted a question on 6/15/25 on Yelp if SEI is still in business and concerned about my order placed early this year after I couldn't find SEI's website on the internet. Trevor replied back to me right away his website was under construction during that time and now the website is completely built on and more detailing about the company, its story, services and products, photos from completed job installation, contact and reviews. I should be confident in Trevor for his professionalism, hands-on experience, honest pricing, job orders and install date scheduling. He is one person to handle the entire job from start to finish (from request to schedule his own visit for the measurement and estimate, place orders, follow up with the vendors for the delivery date, reply to our messages as quickly as he can, scheduling install date and complete jobs entirely and timely). Trevor is a hardworking and responsible person, experienced installer and takes measurement accurately, pleasure to deal with. He replied to my messages quickly especially when I had questions about the shutters, time scheduled between my painter and his installation date. Since Trevor handles the jobs from start to finish, direct manufacturer pricing no retail markup, no sales middleman, his quotes are very reasonable and affordable compared to other window coverings companies. Trevor measured and installed shutters on my 3 big patio doors and 1 tall window at the living room, all were exact fit and installed beautifully. I am very happy for the Norman shutters that were ordered and installed by Trevor, and I enjoy the looks of the shutters installed at my living room, kitchen and master bedroom, so I am thinking to have shutters to be installed at the windows for the rest of the house later this year. I definitely recommend Trevor for the window coverings projects. I will refer him to my families and friends and neighborhoods. One last thing I need to thank you Trevor for his long drive and commute from Colusa, CA to Walnut Creek, CA to complete my shutters installation early this week. Don't hesitate to contact him for onsite measurement and estimate if you think you are not closer to his service location. I gave a try to contact him last December and I was glad he can come down to my area for the measurement and install the shutters timely. read more

08/12/25- After years and years of buying blinds (hard to clean when dust sticks plus strings attached), finally decided it's time to upgrade for plantation shutters for convenience and looks. Ask for quotes via Yelp for Window specialists, attached my measurements and the first one that replied in the most simplest way with "out the door" price x8 windows is none other than SEI Window Coverings! I still waited and waited for other quotes to come in but SEI by far was the most reasonable price of all. Difference in hundreds and some quotes- thousands, literally! No frills or extras this and that when he does his quote-straight to the point of the cost. That clearly shows the honesty and integrity of this company is right on the dot! Set-up an appointment and had an opportunity to meet Trevor- great guy, humble, positive, simple and had a great sense of humor! He did the measurement (06/09/25). He came on time as promised. He bring samples where you can actually see the product, feel it, match it with your existing wall painting or furniture or kitchen cabinets. Trevor is very good with suggestions just in case you are thinking on which one to pick. He listens and take a note of what you want. He suggested a 3.5 louver but since my home is very small, I feel like 3inches is good enough, so I followed my heart opt for a 3 inches instead. Trevor is a kind of guy that clicks instantly and it's like you have known him for a long time even though it's just the first time of meeting him! Very cool guy, not serious or arrogant, no bs sales talk- just purely business, very down-to-earth! Feeling of a family vibe where you can open up with him on what you want without having a mixed feeling about it! In short- hire him as he is the best of the best! No kidding! Trevor is awesome when it comes to communication! Since these are custom window products, it could be a little challenging for wait times but windows can wait, I am sure of that. For me as long as it will be done flawlessly and perfectly (which they did!), I am okay with it. It's not a life threatening situation after all. Trevor was considerate that I have to move it one more day from the scheduled date and he agreed. Install date: 08/12/25. Met his brother, Kyle- respectful and a great guy, just like his brother; it runs in the family! They both installed 8 windows in less than an hour! My place is small but that's still fast for a very nice and neat job! Their workmanship is perfect; can't find any flaws! The shutters were very high quality. Opening and closing the shutters- a breeze! They even haul away the old blinds that I removed! What more can you ask for? If you are in need of any window solutions, SEI is always here to help! It's very hard to keep a perfect 5stars here on Yelp, and reviews speak for itself. Trust me and you will not regret your decision. Upgrading to shutters is something you can consider as it adds a good look to your home and also value of your property. If you are in need of anything window related covering, (plantation shutters, blinds, shades, draperies any covers for windows..) Whether for "Privacy Please, blocking out sun, sleeping during the daytime, hiding from your neighbors , for whatever reason you have, SEI is here! Free estimates, Lifetime warranty, what more can you ask for? I may sound like a commercial trying to introduce this business, but hey, I had an amazing experience with SEI, and I can proudly say that I am extremely pleased and very happy for the services that they provided! Thanks for the great tandem of Trevor and Kyle, you guys are amazing and keep it up! I highly recommend SEI to my friends, families, yelpers or non-yelpers out there! read more

I reached out to SEI for a shutter installation. Trevor responded right away and offered a reasonable quote. He came that week to take measurements, and came again four weeks later to install 3 shutters. He also took down and hauled away our old, ugly blinds. He charges cut the square foot of windows. Out total price for 2 very large windows and 1 small window was ~$3100. The shutters turned out great. It has a finished look and we are able to enjoy the rooms much more. We appreciated that Trevor was communicative throughout the process and didn't try to upsell anything. He is professional too - came on time, did the job efficiently and cleaned up any mess. Highly recommend. read more

Trevor was very responsive and communicated excellently even around holiday times which was greatly appreciated. Even though we had a small job, he spent the time to really go through our shutter options. He was also transparent with possible wait times for materials (around a couple of weeks due to holidays) and was considerate of our request for an install before a certain date. He followed up quickly after he received the materials and install was very seamless and quick. We are happy with our install and his quotes/overall cost was the best value for the service/materials. Would happily recommend him and company for those needing window coverings! read more

Trevor will test your patience. Four months later and the project is still not completed. Initially he was quick to respond but rapidly downhill from there. He responded on a Sunday to an initial shade info search and scheduled to come see me on the following Monday. He's a nice guy, seemed capable. On Friday we agreed on the shades and price. His price was very good, only one was lower, s.....com. I gave him a 75% deposit for the materials because I understand he's a small business and a family man. Trevor told me the anticipated arrival time for the product would be 2 1/2 - 3 weeks then he would schedule the installation. 17 days later I followed up with him about timing. Two days later he said another 9 days for the delivery. A week later I asked him if he could schedule the install. We scheduled the install in 9 more days. I followed up with him the day before install day, and he shows me the product won't be delivered to him for another 5 days. Notice it's me having to follow up with him, Trevor's communication skills are poor at best. A full six weeks after the order was made installation day arrived. Kyle, his brother, came to do the install. He's a nice guy too. All 11 shades arrived unfortunately, two of the corded shades didn't come with cord tensioners/guides so the cords were just hanging lose on the sliding doors from the kitchen to outside, the most used door. Kyle came in his personal car instead of a work truck, so he didn't have any spare equipment. I found some on Amazon and took care of it myself. I'm a single dad with a 12-year-old, coach youth sports, and have lots of kids running around. I can't have loose hanging things in the house. In addition, six of the shades for the three sliding glass doors were supposed to have Norman's SmartRelease capability. On my initial order I specifically stated I want that feature. Not a single one had it. One month later Trevor contacts me saying he has the shade controls, I specifically ask him if he's talking about the SmartRelease shades, he said correct. We schedule the install in four days, a Thursday. Surprise, surprise they don't show up and never called saying they weren't arriving. They only had the cord guides that were missing from the initial installation, not what I asked for. Friday, I sent him a video from Norman showing him exactly what the SmartRelease shades are. I now sense he doesn't have a clue. Trevor tells me he'll have the hardware in 11 days. Guess what, it is now 15 days later and still no follow up from Trevor that the equipment has arrived and when the project will be completed. I congratulate any of those that says they received quick and responsive service but that is far from my experience. Hopefully, this review will save some of you that don't have extreme patience and expect responsive service. Whatever you do, don't give him a large deposit, make him need to be responsive to get paid. read more

Very good and friendly service for a very good price. Both Trevor and Kyle know what they're doing.

I was looking for window coverings (roller shades) for my new home and I contacted several vendors. Out of all the vendors, I picked SEI Window coverings, as Trevor's designs perfectly suited our interests. The cost was low compared to the other top-notch vendors with the same quality of material. Trevor was quite humble and under-rated at his first impression. Once he got the materials (it took 2 weeks for delivery, not bad at all), he and his team installed the coverings in less than 4 hours. The entire process was very smooth and hassle-free. We had new windows installed about a year ago and needed blinds to match. We looked at a couple of installers who handled both Graber and Hunter-Douglas. The samples were very close quality-wise and variety of materials and finishes. What really sold us on SEI was Trevor's attention to detail, understanding of the product, and willingness to listen to our needs and incorporate them into his designs. He is also prompt in his replies and accurate in time and cost estimates, letting us plan accordingly. The other installers were very "salesperson-ish" where Trevor spoke to us as an expert and didn't try to sell us on anything we didn't want or need. The results are beautiful, fit perfectly, operate like butter after more than a year of use, and are holding up extremely well (the wood-tone valance in the pictures was my own manufacture, while the white valances are Graber). While it's unlikely we'll need anything further for quite a while, if/when we do we'll be going right to Trevor with an order. read more
