Negative reviews are something that I, like some people, tend to look for when evaluating businesses. This business only had 2 negative reviews, and after reading those reviews, my conclusion is that they are both not logically sound. The first negative review has quite a few broad generalizations and conclusory allegations, which is against Yelp's Guidelines as stated below: "Personal experience: Try to tell your own story without resorting to broad generalizations and conclusory allegations." Accusing someone of "having issues," while subsequently describing a person as a "cross between a disgruntled DMV worker and a mangy alley cat," is highly unprofessional, largely based on fictitious and stereotypical thinking, disrespectful to both the person and state workers, and foreshadowing a serious lack of self-awareness and self-accountability, which makes me question the appropriateness of this person being in control of their emotions, actions, and a firearm. My experience with the Security Six team revealed nothing close to what this negative reviewer described. I was treated with dignity, respect, and skilled customer service the entire time I was there, which makes it appalling to see that someone had made such derogatory comments. I was never made to feel embarrassed or belittled for asking questions, and because of that, I was very comfortable learning from Security Six. My skills have improved significantly, which is largely due to being in this conducive learning environment. In addition, I respect Larry for not accepting this person's offer to provide an apology in order to remove their negative review. In the only other one-star review, Frank M. makes absolutely no sense at all. I am part of the general public and I was able to attend the course. I have no idea what his train of thought is on this believed issue, but I can assure you that I was physically present in the course. Larry's response to this person's review was very professional and reveals the motive behind such a biased and inaccurate review. Frank M. is also violating Yelp's Guidelines, which is stated below: "Accuracy: Make sure your review is factually correct. Feel free to air your opinions, but don't exaggerate or misrepresent your experience. " In the three star review, I see many logical issues in that person's justification of taking away two stars. First, waiting for 15 minutes so that another person can find parking and check-in is very compassionate and understanding of other people's situations. I do not see how waiting a little bit so that someone else could join the group is a bad thing, unless if you're a very impatient person of course. This person mentions the only other two people in the course as witnesses, one of which she had an issue with waiting for, but her perceptions and explanations are largely subjective. For instance, she said that she was "visibly upset," that the instructor seemed too "showy," and that her witnesses "seemed really weird-ed [sic] out." These are highly subjective interpretations. What stood out to me was that she was offered a sincere apology and then she responded with additional criticisms about something being returned and that the demonstrations were not to her liking in the level of show. I have to disagree with this line of thinking. I am paying a trainer. I am paying to attend a course to learn. I want someone to show me everything they know. How is it reasonable to say to someone that they are too "showy" when I am paying that same person to show me how to do something? The reason why I respond to these negative comments for this particular Security Six business is because I do not like seeing great businesses receiving biased and unsubstantiated reviews. Because I truly enjoyed my time with the Security Six team and because word of mouth is a very powerful marketing tool, I gladly spent my own time reading and addressing these reviews so that when someone else hears about this business in a negative light, they would see what I wrote and how it goes to show that every negative review needs to be taken with a grain of salt. In the course, I learned stance, posture, grip, technique, safety, line of thinking, legality, and many more essential topics that are critical in given situations. As someone who has spent over 10 years in academia, I can tell you that my learning experience at Security Six was admirable and commendable. I would never hesitate to recommend such an expert and highly experienced professional team to anyone I know. To Larry and the Security Six team, I would like to thank you for the knowledge that you brought to the table and I cannot thank you all enough for the level of hospitality and professionalism that you showed me and that I observed you showing to others. I just called Security 6 and was given a basic sales pitch on taser training, including price, location and other details . I asked if the general public could take the course and the person on the other end of the line replied in the affirmative. It was only after she had gone through all her paperwork that I asked her, in effect, again,if the general public could take the course without a guard card or any other permit of any kind, that she answered my original question that only someone who had a guard card or some other qualifying means could attend and take the course. I suggest that alcohol wipes be used each time the weapons are used for training because I've noticed how some people have sneezed in their hands and immediately touch the gun that is being used to qualify; that's filthy ! if the gun cannot be wiped down after each use each participant must use a supplied alcohol wipe before touching the weapon including the instructor. read more

Really liked coming to security six. Larry is super helpful and helped with all of the questions i had concerning firearms. Don't get thrown off by his humor, he likes to joke around a bit but its all in good humor. Took my FSC here was in and out in about 15 minutes. Staff was also nice. Larry you were very nice and professional, I will give you that. Please do send the video, again your secretary is rude and inappropriate. The issue was not the $100.00 To qualify. And no I do not pay a range fee with SAFTA Sacramento security fire arms training, The issue started when she was demeaning and rude to you and I was uncomfortable. Again ordering you like a dog to take me to qualify and then you would be allowed to have your lunch. I don't give two shits how you like to be treated by the help, however The real problem was when she started talking to me the same way. Slamming her hand on the counter. Show that video. I really don't care about your dam attorney or a defamation of character lawsuit. Train your employee how to treat customers. Thank you for the idea, I will gladly speak to my coworkers and have them review your business. 4 of them had the same problem with your ally cat. I will send their reviews to BSIS. P.S. If she wants to give me an apology I will gladly remove the review, and that came form my attorney aka my brother in law. He works for free . A typical strategy is to try to silence online critics by suing them for defamation and claiming the reviews contain false allegations. ... Larry Hamby was recommended to me by a trusted friend. I took a few courses (not expecting to learn much or to be terribly excited) and departed truly energized by Larry's expertise and great attention to "teaching" each of his students. This was not rote, boring, or jaded coursework (...which one typically expects from statutorily required certification classes) -- it was refreshing, highly educational, and inspiring. In terms of knowledge and expertise in almost every subject, Larry is unique in that his class is informative and polished with his presentation. I have had 4 classes so far with Security Six with different instructors for each class, including the Firearms class and the were all fantastic!. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly and affordable. They take the courses very seriously so if you rather want to be on your phone, don't bother showing up. All instructors have been doing this for a long time so besides the regular "classroom" information, you will also receive a world of practical information and examples that you can only learn "on the job". I am new to using handguns and left the Firearms class confident that I could pass on the gunrange. I got my guard card from this place and the training was very good. Very thorough and informational. It was a lot of videos and like two tests. I than went and did the firearms class soon after. Due to work and other circumstances I wasn't able to do my range day until two weeks later. I did my final day on Jan 26. The reason I gave only 4 stars is because it is now March 16 and it still hadn't been approved yet. I know that's something to do with BSIS. I checked my status in n their website and it says it was submitted Feb 12. Why did it take two and a half weeks to be submitted when I paid them to do it for me and "expedite" process of submitting it? I called a week ago and asked what date it was submitted but couldn't get a straight answer. Although I had this problem I would still go to them in the future for requals. The simulator was easy and fun to use for qualifying. I shot pretty well on it although I was feeling extremely under the weather. I just wish that this process wasn't taking so long. I really hope that the screw up was on BSIS and not Security Six. The staff at Security Six is very helpful and I would recommend them to anyone. read more
