My first appointment was with Jamie, and she did an amazing job. She's easy to talk to, which makes the time fly, and she delivered exactly what I asked for. Plus, she shared helpful hair care tips and even gave me a coupon for a free chemical treatment. I've gone back to her since, and she consistently does great work. Another thing I appreciate is that this salon never pressures you to buy products or add services--a rare and refreshing experience. I also love that tips can be given in cash or through apps like Cash App or Venmo, so you know the stylist receives them directly and quickly. This is officially my spot! I have nothing but great things to say about this gem of a salon in Katy. First, the owner has been in business for about 35 years here in Katy. Her staff is loyal, well trained and know what they are doing. I see Megan Fox. I adore her.She's been cutting my hair for over six years and the salon always works with me if I have a scheduling conflict. All the ladies are warm and welcoming. I'd trust any of them with my hair in a pinch. But Megan is my go to. I love that they are not a "flashy" salon but a community one. I feel good walking in and even better when I walk out. I looked online for an affordable grey re-touch and trim. Their online pricing said $58 color, $45 cut. When I spoke with them on the phone they quoted me $75 color and $55 cut. I didn't bother to ask if they had a senior discount... I thought $130 is a lot, and that's before tip. Please update your pricing online so people know that your prices went up. read more

I knew it was time for me to get a haircut and new style when I thought about buying MORE hairbands. Why wear my hair tied up in a constrained ponytail when I can wear it down and be EXCITED about it? Well, that's exactly what I did! I called up and scheduled an appointment with Dana for a color and cut. She was sweet and talked to me about what I was looking for in a new look. I changed into a black smock and hung my clothes up in their changing room, which makes you feel like a movie star. The decor in the salon makes you feel like you're in Hollywood; black and white posters of Marilyn Monroe grace their walls and the open, brightly lit salon makes you forget that you're in a small town. I decided to go with a dark red wash with bold streaks in my hair, as well as some flirty bangs. After some cutting, shaping, coloring, Dana was styling my hair with smooth confidence. I looked up and my face had transformed! This is what we all want! A new look that is flattering to our face shape and for once, a desire to toss out all of those stretched out, and tired hairbands! I came back the next week after that visit to get more dark red color washed into my hair. I was told the initial wash may "not take" and may take a few visits. I was happy to do so, since I wasn't able to recreate the awesome "just stepped out of the salon" look. I also got the "steam conditioning infusion", which makes your hair silky and shiny soft. Then, I came back, yet again for a shampoo and style for the Yelp Elite Event at Carmelo's, and I'm so glad I did. Their pricing is reasonable and if you have color treated hair or damaged hair, consider getting the steam infusion. It'll erase all those hot iron sessions you subjected your hair to in your bathroom. I will most definitely come back for my next color, cuts, and styles for special events. Why? If I could give 0 stars I would. I went in for all over blond highlights and the woman put in the wrong toner and it turned my hair brown. She told me the only way to fix it would be to strip the toner out and that the brassy tones would come back, but she couldn't do that until 5 days later. I didn't trust her to fix my hair after what she had done to it already. I was so embarrassed that I cried all the way home. I was charged over $200 for this botched service. As soon as I left there, I Went to another salon to have the work she had done fixed correctly. So I was out more money. Would not recommend this salon to anyone. The 2 stars are specifically for the cut given by Jessie. She did exactly what I asked and it looks good. My problem is with what I was charged. $240 for a simple haircut and partial highlights. They charged $73 for toner. As far as I know toner is a part of the color process, which was $93. The haircut was #45. And there was a $29 charge for a "shine". I have no idea what that is for and wasn't asked if I wanted it. Im just completely shocked by this price and feel like I was completely bamboozled. I won't be returning here and neither should you. Jessie did an amazing job with my highlights! I have really thick and long hair as well so finding someone that can work with my hair has always been a challenge. I came in after having a bad experience at another salon and desperately needed help with my highlighting situation after the salon I went to before the guy put in low lights with my highlights and let's just say my hair was a disaster before!! I think I have been coming here since about 2000 and Suzanne has always done a superb job at keeping me happy with the results. I was scared to try a new person, but was left with no choice due to my hair stylist moving out of town. I was fortunate to be introduced to Secrets and Suzanne by a colleague of mine. Secrets is a great little place hidden within Katy. If you were to be blindfolded and walked into the salon you would not believe you were in Katy. I would have thought I was in some high end salon located in the heart of 5 Star Metropolitan USA. Terry and her team take the time out to stay abreast of all the new techniques and styles. Not only that, but they are very interested in you and your wants. They listen and advise where necessary so that you get what you want, without getting damaged hair or something that doesn't work for your lifestyle or hair texture. All this, and they manage to stay reasonably priced. The staff I have seen over the years has been the same. They are skilled and stay on top of their game. I watch others as they work, and notice they have happy clients as well. They are a fine oiled machine that has a professional, but personal touch for everyone that walks in. I went to Secrets to get some subtle highlights in my hair and in the salon it looked pretty good when it was finished. As soon as I got to my house it was like you couldn't even tell anything had been done to my hair. I was told that they would lighten up and they never have. If anything, they have faded so fast. And yes, I used color protecting shampoo and conditioner. I am so disappointed in the way my hair looks now. The only color you can see are two thick streaks of dark blonde right in the front, framing my face. My hair is very dark brown so for that to be all you see looks ridiculous. I will never go back to this salon. I am now looking for someone who can actually color my hair the was I ask for a fair price. I told her I wanted subtle, yes, but I never said nonexistent. You seriously cannot even tell aside from those two chunks that anything has been done. To me, there is quite a difference between subtle and sloppy. This salon is also very overpriced. I went in for highlights that aren't quite as obvious, but are more spread out and starting at different lengths throughout my hair (to give it a more natural look) and I was charged for a full ombre treatment. I thought it was completely unfair because to me, ombre is a gradual lightening of your hair as a whole, not partial strands. read more
