When I'm not in a "drastic change" era or season and I need a haircut, Longs Hair Studio is the perfect place. I think my stylists name was Stella? She was swift, accurate and very confident in what I needed even tho what I thought I was going in for was just a 2-inch trim, lol. I had old grown out bleach-dyed hair and ends and really just wanted to clean up my ends but I ended up walking out with a layered haircut I didn't know I needed. She was friendly, fast and accurate, and loved it. I have since received a handful of compliments on my cut, and that's music to my ears! PSA: Longs hair studio does NOT take appointments for haircuts on the weekends - walk-ins only. They open at 9:30am on Saturdays, and I got there at 10am a they were SLAMMED!!! Every seat had a client or patron, and while I did have to wait about 15-20 minutes, I'm still glad I waited and got Stella! I didn't really like that I had to wait and that there was minimal to no seating because an entire family had taken up the seats they had, so it got crammed and crowded real quick. While i never used his services before, i was able to call his shop and scheduled an appointment by text (absolutely convenient). my last stylist told me it was impossible to get my hair treated and colored to this ash grey bc of previous color. she told me i had to grow my hair out before she would work on it. I believed her but after nearly 6 months later a friend told me I didn't have to go to that extreme and it could be done with the right person. i found that person, Long. he's excellent. I called yesterday to make a haircut appointment with a specific person. I was told they could see me between 5:00 and 5:30. I arrived on time, and then I was told that that person had two clients before me, and that I would have to wait until they finished with them, or I could be seen by someone else if I wanted. Long's Hair Studio was recommended by one of my friends and I'm so glad she did. I always look for a hair studio that handles Asian hair really well since I've been burned in the past by other hair salons. The first thing I noticed was how clean and chic it looked inside. The seats were super comfortable which is important especially if your appointment is going to last 3-4 hours. I came in for a haircut but also a color consultation. I wanted to be sure that I could trust their expertise since my previous bleaching experience from another salon was horrible and it took years of growing my hair out for it to be healthy again. I was immediately assured that the color I wanted to achieve was possible after only one bleaching session. I decided on doing an ashy/caramel brown balayage. Surprisingly, they agreed on doing my balayage session that day (basically as a walk in) and I was assigned to Stella. Stella did a great job on my hair considering she did everything by herself. She was extremely patient, meticulous, and would update me on the progress as the session was going on. I also appreciated that she provided me with water and snacks midway through the session. The overall result came out better than I thought and my hair definitely still feels healthy. The pricing was reasonable, too. My haircut and balayage session came out to $295. Zelle or Venmo are their preferred payment methods. Credit cards will get charged a 2.2% convenience fee. I have to highlight that all of the workers were so accommodating. The salon stayed busy the entire time I was there and there were a lot of returning customers. Despite the salon already being closed, they still accommodated a gentleman who came in last minute since he drove pretty far. I'm writing this review to share my experience and hope no one had to go through what I went through. I was pretty impressed with my first haircut here. It was efficient, professional, and turned out great. Long took great time to make sure the color matches my inspiration photo and listened to my description on how I wanted my hair to be done. However, I was very disappointed this second time returning. I booked appointment via text messages. He confirmed it will be him working with my hair since I trust his expertise from my first encounter. However, because he was still busy with the other two customers plus I was about 20 minutes late, his clerk asked if another hair stylist helped apply the color that Long already mixed for me. Long will still be my main hair stylist. I agreed since I saw he was still busy with another customer and bc I wasn't on time. So I gave in and completely shook by this whole encounter! It was a disaster! This was only the beginning of the ordeal. This lady stylist helper was sweet and initially sounds like she listens to my needs. I mentioned I want my root touch up to match the color I had and at the same time overlapping my gray hair. Yet, the color turned out much darker than what the rest of my hair looked like. It basically still the same color with my natural hair, the only different is my grey hair was now darker. She DID NOT match up the color of my dye hair to cover up the growing out root. Yet she charged $85 for the cost of root retouching dye alone?! The total cost of my visit with dye, haircut and tip 171$. Dishonesty: when she was washing my hair off after 2 hours of waiting. She spoke Vietnamese to her colleague stating, "oh no, it's been 2 hours yet the color didn't show and did not match with her hair, what to do?!". The coworker said, "heat it up, it might help". Then, the hairstylist direct me to sit under a steamer. She lied and saying, "my hair needed treatment". She did not place any treatment in the water. She only turn on the steamer to heat up my hair that she hasn't dried and following her coworkers suggestion so the lighter shade might show. I'm sitting on a steamer machine with my wet hair and water dripping down my neck onto my clothes underneath. My internal thought was I need to leave now. I had appointment to attend to, I have work to do, but then again, I felt bad for being an impatient customer and put myself through with it. At this point, I'm already crying inside and just want my hair to dry off and get trim quickly so I can pay and leave. When Long was able to come over, I thought this was a rescue. So I told him what the other helper said about the color of my root she messed up. He spoke with her in Vietnamese asking technical terms which color level she used, etc...Basically, she made her own decision and used the color level she was not supposed to. Long tried to show me asking me to look at the mirror to confirm the color. At this point, I just want this salon day to be over and had no time to have color correction. Hair will grow out, color treatment can be redone, I just want to leave this place! Long and his skill, I have no question. He has the most experience. However, an artist with the best skills may sometimes messed up. Especially, when being rushed by the queue of lines and task of completion. I wasn't too happy with his cut on my bangs as it is a tad short and I look pretty ridiculous. I appreciate he's trying to fix it by styling it a different way. However, at this point, driving 1 hour while being lost in the middle of somewhere in a new developing town of Katy with multiple roundabouts and no traffic light, an empty stomach with some complimentary candy and crackers, I just need to leave. I have had enough. My scalp felt burned from the overheat and itchy afterward. I had a delayed allergic to shellfish and confirmed with the hair stylist who applied my dye if the ingredient contain any shellfish. She confirmed no; yet I came home and felt my scalp burning and itchy. I'm not sure if this is bc of the overheating steamer burnt or an allergic reaction. I took medications to prevent a possible reaction and prob will need to follow up with a doctor. read more

In addition, the cost for men's haircut and perm ($23+65) is very reasonable. My boyfriend was taken care of by Vincent who did a great job. Cons: cost- women's cut is $45 and I did not ask for a wash. It is a little on the high end for a no wash hair/with a one inch trim + some layers. I had an awesome first experience at Long's and definitely plan on returning! During my initial consultation, I had an old, grown-out blonde balayage with dark orange ends from having red hair for 8 years (see first pic). I asked for a touch-up because my roots had grown out, and Long was very patient and informative. He considered all the sample pictures I showed him and gave me a realistic explanation of how my hair might react to the treatment. Because there was still a lot of red in my hair, I needed a color correction instead of just a touch-up. On the day of the service, he treated my hair with gentle thoroughness, carefully picking out each strand for bleaching, coloring, and toning. His main challenge was getting rid of the red while keeping my hair moisturized and healthy. He was meticulous and professional but also made it look easy! I asked for the blonde highlights to be as light as possible while keeping the overall look more on the dark and subtle side because I was starting a new job and wanted to look more professional. They straightened my hair on high heat 3X with no heat protectant and didn't wet my hair to cut it. The cut was super choppy and not even. I asked for long blended layers and I felt as if she ignored me and cut off a bunch--leaving me with choppy and shoulder length hair. Today, I took my son here to get a haircut, but the experience was far from pleasant. My son was already grumpy about getting a haircut, and the barber's rude attitude made things worse. He never smiled and he looked arrogant. He bluntly said things like, "Your son doesn't want to get a haircut," and "I don't know what he wants." Despite his rudeness, I politely asked if he had any recommendations. He just stared at me for about 10 seconds without responding, making me feel foolish. At the end, the barber charged me $35, claiming my son's hair was long. We've never been charged over $30 despite coming here every three months, so I didn't understand the extra charge. Despite everything, I still gave a 20% tip. After I paid, he apologized, but I felt the apology should have come earlier. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I hope future visits will be much more pleasant. I will definitely avoid this particular barber in the future. The entire time he actually checked how it was looking and cut some off then asked if it should be shorter or not. Instead of just buzzing it off. He was also super chill and cool to talk to while cutting my hair. Will 100% be specifically asking for Vincent in the future. Just as an aside too, this isn't a positive review I wrote because of a free haircut because of my previous bad one. I walked into Long's Hair Studio without an appointment and explained the balayage blonde look I wanted. The male hair designer who worked with me was amazing! I wish I knew his name. He listened carefully and did an incredible job. After trimming some of my damaged hair, the entire process took around 4-5 hours, and the results were worth every minute. The total came out to about $470 including tips. What impressed me even more was that two months later my hair turned into a beautiful grayish blonde and I love it even more now! Place is okay based on my experience. Scheduling is horrible as they don't properly go down the list. I was skipped on the list for someone that came after me. Was told no appointments so it should be whoever is next unless they want a specific hairdresser and I was fine with whichever hairdresser was available. I was never acknowledged or asked for my name on the list. So I suggest you make it known you are on the list and waiting. They spent an awful amount of time on the guy before me. Looked like a simple cut, similar to what I was probably going to do. Initially thought okay, maybe this place is worth it. They are detailed. He got a cut, wash, recut, rewash, refined with the clippers, brushed off. Sort of what you see on their IG. Probably spent a good 45 mins on a cut that would take 15. When it was my turn, I didn't seem to get the same level of care and detail. Didn't even get the brush. Just a quick blow with the hairdryer. The whole thing felt rushed. All in all my cut took 10 mins with a wash to get my hair wet. Also one guy waiting to get a haircut walked in and handed some food to a hairdresser. So I don't know if there's some quid pro quo or favouritism going on where you get better treatment if you're buddies or give them something in return. I don't love leaving poor reviews, but it needs to be done despite Long and his wife being very sweet. I contacted Long's and said I wanted to do grey blending and shared photos. They replied that they could do it so I booked the appointment because Yelp has never let me down. It took 20 minutes for them to look at my hair. Long said he wouldn't be able to do it in one session. Initially he said he wanted to bleach my entire head vs the highlights and baby lights I requested. Thank God that didn't happen. They proceeded to do highlights per my request and put bleach my hair in foil and he left it in there for about an hour. He said it wasn't lifting that much because of the box dye I had on my hair and he'd be back in 20 minutes. That turned out to be an hour and 20 minutes while he was working on another client! No one came to check on my hair. When he finally came to check, he said that it still hadn't lifted. I said I wanted to just put color back and his wife said it would be easier to do another bleach application that day if I had time rather than come back. I should have listened to my intuition but I agreed and the reapplied bleach to my hair and left it in foil for another TWO plus hours. They put color back in my hair and blow dried my hair. I was there until after they closed - I was there from 11-6pm! WTF! I wanted to cry when I got back to the car because my hair wasn't even that light after all that time. When I finally washed my hair and I let air dry, my hair was completely fried. The ends were curly as if I had put a flame to it. When I brushed it, my hair would break and I looked like I had layers in my hair when I have a straight cut. I don't doubt that they can do good work, but please don't let them talk you into putting bleach in your hair for more than 2.5 hours. I paid over $500 for my hair to be ruined and another $200+ to have it fixed by someone else. When I went to the other hair dresser, she was appalled that they didn't do a strand test and allowed my hair to be fried for that long. Absolutely horrible experience! Completely traumatized. They should refund their clients when the result is so disastrous. read more

Ive never gotten my hair color done professionally before. I've been 2x so far and I got to work with Trish who's one of the owners of the studio. I have medium brown hair and was inspired to go red. I let Trish know what I wanted and she recommended I go darker red since my hair would require bleaching if I went too light of a red color. She also said if I went too light too quickly it could damage my hair and when it would fad would look more orange than red. Technically the pictures I showed were of redheads who had natural variations of colors like low and high lights. I was hesitant but followed her recommendation. I loved how it came out and the darker red looked great on me. I came in again 4 months later for a root touch up and wanted to go lighter. Trish touched up my roots with the same red color I got the first time and did red highlights. I loved it. She said it's better to try and add lighter color to it as I keep coming in and it'll look more natural and better that way. I love it. I definitely feel like Trish knows what she's doing and I love how my hair comes out every time. I love this place! Everyone here is very skilled with hair. My experiences have been with Andy and Vincent. Andy was phenomenal with my hair color, we did a whole head makeover going from black to blonde all around. The color turned out great, my hair is still very healthy and I'm preparing to return to touch up my roots. Vincent has been the designated barber who's cut my hair and my kids hair.
