I was the kind of kid who tore the house apart for days before christmas, seeking clues to what might be in store, so i was seriously excited for this event. Impatient begger that i am, i turned up early and tried to pump information from a tightlipped Emily to no avail. Evenually 7pm came around and we began, discovering at the first venue,Zaragosa, that we were on a tapas trail!
The first venue itself is bright and airy with very friendly helpful staff, the 3 veggie tapas offers were a bit meh unfotuneately. A green salad, patata bravas without the spicy sauce that they should have and to redeem the meal a delicious goat cheese samosa type dish with apple sauce. Yum! After about an hour it was off to venue number 2, Cafe Italliano, which ive passed 100 times but never tried. A stunning 1st floor bistro hidden behind a small door, i loved the lay out. Food was really fresh and tasty but did lack imagination. Once we dined, we were back on our feet to make our way to our final location, and my highlight, Havana. I can fault nothing here. Friendly staff, delicious fresh food, entertainment, gold stars all round! We got paella, wings, meatballs, bravas (with 2 sauces!) And churos to finish. What i could eat all stood as the best of the evening.
I left with a full tummy and some new friends, brilliant event, and a special thanks to the friendly and informative trail organisers, i would certainly go to another of their foodie events as a different evening option, and recomend it to friends coming from abroad to show irish food scene can offer more than stew and chips! read more
