Lovely things here in 'find'
Ellen S.

Whoa...this was a very, very popular event, crowds and queues everywhere. It didn't take away from the fun to be had though. We managed to visit most of the shops, and such lovely finds as well...shops I had no clue that were there, or that I knew were there but never stepped foot in as I didn't know what they were selling. I will most definitely go back to jamart and find (both in temple bar) I saw some stuff I really, really liked and wanted! But I will browse in peace at a more quiet time. A few shops provided us with yummie cocktails, and in industry there was even some snack food (amazing meatballs!). I'm a bit sad the workshop for the Appassionata shop was fully booked, as that was actually on top of my list. But other than that: FAB night. Thanks Emily + yelp crew!

#article #design All sorts of awesomeness! #print
Jeannine L.

Fantastic event, brilliantly executed by all involved! We were delighted to get the opportunity to do our own printing in Article Design & ridiculously chuffed with ourselves when we set a trend for people getting the prints sprayed with the Dublin graffiti by the Yelp spray painter! The food & cocktails in Industry set us up nicely for the rest of the whirlwind tour around Dublin's best design stores.. Loved the sneak peak into the work shops in The Irish Design Shop & Indigo & Cloth! Even managed to pick up a couple of gifts in Irish Design! Great night..snuck back to Designist at lunchtime the next day & was still able to use my Yelp discount! #chuffedallround! Thanks Yelp X

Cocktails galore!

What an innovative night and oh so well designed for a fun time! (See what I did there, "design" night??) Cringe The cocktails were flowing, the yelpers yelping and freebies at every red balloon, hey what more could you ask for? Such a brilliant way for all our talent to showcase what they've been working on. It gave me the opportunity to check out all the quirky little gems behind shop windows I never enter, I'll definitely be back for some of those cute household items one doesn't realise they in fact need.

Really enjoyed my night rambling around these fantastic Design Shops. Well done to Emily and all the Yelp crew ... No easy feat but you organised a great event. Looking forward to the next one! p.s I've tagged lots more photos over on Instagram

Welcome to design night @find
Petra B.

First off: I loved the idea of discovering creative shops in Dublin. I'm not very often in town and definitely hardly to get ideas for presents or for myself. All the shops involved in the Design Night were new to me. Well, I had heard of three but never went before. I started the night bang on time in find - and that was a great find ;-) I loved that you could spend hours trying to discover every little gem they had there and a lot of them unique. As it was still early I even got a bit of time to chat to the owners - something that always helps to connect to a business. And I got two pieces I loved and bought - so something to remind me of the night. I then met with a friend who first wanted a bite to eat before all the cocktails so by the time we arrived around Drury Street it was jammers there and unfortunatly the workshops in Appasionata were fully book with a long waiting list and the terraniums in the Garden were all gone. A pity but we didn't expect 600 people to take part and by the looks most of them turned out - we might've planned the night differently otherwise. It certainly made especially that area of town pretty crowded - and gave the evening the feel of a festival. So we queued at Industry for the cocktail and meatballs - a pretty long queue at the time but very fast moving. We sat down between the products and enjoyed a second dinner. First I thought the meatballs were a bit bland but after a few bites I really liked them. We managed to get into and look around the six shops in the Drury Street area but were in the end running short of time to get back into the Temple Bar area to those thre shops. I loved the little surprises on street too. Great, happy people helping there. So all in all a very enjoyable night of lovely discoveries - a special treat, just a bit too crowded at times. Well done Emily and everyone involved organising and running the night. I can only try to imagine the amount of work that went into it. Not to mention a very busy and late end to a working day. Overall: A great way to dicover these design shops - it would be great if it could happen again.

Although I was only volunteering at Garden and Article I still got to experience all of the enthusiasm as Yelper's went from shop to shop! It was extremely busy and not everyone got to take part in the terrarium transplant training in Garden, however the ladies were still more than happy to walk you through how to be a successful gardener. Article is such a great shop and the overwhelming thought from everyone was "I didn't know this place existed!". The guy doing the prints will probably never want to see a print machine again as he was non stop for three straight hours. Everyone was smiling and the only negative you could say was that there were big crowds. The street performers were also excellent and helped people along the way from shop to shop. Can't wait for next year!

Yummy organic meatballs at industry
Lisa J.

This was a fantastic event although unfortunately I didn't get to visit every place on the map. Industry had a long queue when I got there but the staff were lovely and the cocktail and meatballs yum. Was lovely to see some yelpers I knew too. Designist was also super, love the stuff they sell, quite unusual and different. I'll be back as the man says.

Blessed with a lovely evening to wander around Dublin - with cocktails to quench our thirst whilst milling around the venues. We were lucky to be early in most of them and avoided the queues which were rather significant later in the evening. Most reviews have covered each venue extensively but what I loved about this event is the discovery of all these fabulous new shops which I have inadvertently walked by without noticing all these years. Yay to new inspiration for all my X'mas shopping in 2 months' time! Yes I went there, oops ;-)

Daniela H.

Great night! Managed to see a few shops I never visited - and bought a few thing also. Didn't make to all the venues as there was just way to many people. Which is great for the design shops!!! My absolute favourite was apassionata - great workshop and tips around flowers and plants at home - I wish there were more of them (maybe next time?)! My new go-to when it comes to my living room. Thank you Emily & team for organising x

Tealight candle holders from Article
Darren C.

Thoroughly enjoyed Dublin Design Night, definitely my favourite Yelp event so far. Had been looking forward to it for aaaaages and it totally lived up to my hyped expectations :) We started at The Garden, which was very pretty but packed and moved onto Article (my personal favourite of the night!!) There was demonstrations in both stores and we picked up some tealight candle holders in Article. I'll be back for a more thorough viewing of here in the future!! Industry was the perfect pitstop as we got a voucher for a delicious couscous, meatball, almond concoction with a wicked rum cocktail. This was the start of the drinking (unexpected) Think I had 4/5 cocktails, beers, slushy!!! Moving on, while every store that we attended wouldn't have completed my style, I really enjoyed the opportunity to pop into them unselfconsciously. And some I'll certainly return to. Like Jam Art Factory. Madly rushed for time at the very end but we stayed as long as we could for a talk given by one of the stores featured artists. A Donegal giant of a man, wish I could have stayed longer to listen. He was very engaging and his art is wonderfully wry :) Design Night 2, let's be having you haha

Succulent heaven!

What an AWESOME night to be a creative Dublin Yelper! The events were well curated and appealed to all varieties of people - Young, mature, male, female, student, professional, etc. I went with a friend to The Garden to start off our night. The terrarium building was over...but I asked that if I bought a planter would they be willing to show me how to build one, and they were kind enough to say yes! Now I have a cute little plant and adorable planter for only 4 EUR. Next, we went to Article where Clover Rua helped us screen print an image of the iconic Dublin doors. Such an easy and interactive workshop! I also managed to finds candle I couldn't live without, and since I checked in to Article, got 10% off, holla! We hit up Industry for cocktails, Apassionista to watch their flower arranging workshop, and Irish Design for the merch. We ended at Jam Art Factory where Jacob Stack chatted about his work and showed us his drawling process and original designs. How cool is that? Meeting an Irish artist who's art is showcased all around Dublin? It was excellent. I would love if this happened every year! My only suggestion is having a clearer time table of when events are going on and how limited they can be. I enjoyed observing the workshops, but it would have been great to participate too! Maybe even signing up online would be helpful? Anyhow, it was stellar all around.

My favourite Yelp event to date: I loved the freedom of the night with so many great venues to visit. Although time was tight I managed to make it to six places. Each was great in its own way - I loved meeting the owners and hearing about their concept. The cocktails and treats alone the way made the night extra fun. All I can say is well done Emily and the Yelp team

Well hey there dublin design night!
Rincy K.

Really loved coming out on a fall night for this! A buzz-y vibe, like-minded design aficionados and lovely treats to boot. While we didn't get to stop at every spot or demo (sometimes due to the queue of popularity!) , I sincerely hope that there are more nights like this- more sit down talks/demos and more places to tuck in along the way to spread out the masses of excited folks on the trail. A massive thank you and congratulations to everyone involved!

ONE NUMBER TO GO! Unfortunately for me, I never got to shout blingo, but I very much enjoyed the experience. If I was to give some criticism it would be the following: 1. We found it very difficult to hear the numbers being called out. We sat right down the back as there were no other seats. I know there was a light up sign with the numbers, but I would highly recommend this be put up higher for all to see. 2. No non-alcoholic beers?! I don't really drink, so i would usually grab a non-alcoholic beer. I figured there wouldn't be an issue seeing as I had two tickets and would happily trade both for one. However as they weren't part of the deal, I opted for a soft drink which wasn't exactly ideal. 3. The wings could be a wee bit better. Maybe I'm spoiled from spending so much time at Blue Bar, but the wings were just okay to me. From speaking with my table, we all agreed. These minor issues aside, yes I would probably attend another blingo night at 4 dame lane, price depending.
