I am a professional spa visitor and have been to spas all over the world (Military Army Vet) I was very surprised that a small town in Palmdale, Ca would have such a lovely, balanced, calming, and clean facility! The massage therapist try their best to make "No Noise" when retrieving their next concoction of perfectly blended soothing oils. I would suggest to try everything they offer. The HeadMassage was sensational. I never had one. I only chose it because I had a back injury and my Dr. Advised against it. The waiting area is decorated semi - fengshui. Great first visit. I received a gift certificate from my daughter and son-in-law for Christmas. I made an appointment and the moment I stepped in the front door, I knew I was going to like the place. All the people were very friendly and professional. The place was very clean, very calm, and very quiet. The temperature was very comfortable. There's nothing worse than a place being too cold which ruins the relaxation. My masseuse was Jackie and she was awesome! I almost fell asleep a couple of times. Or, maybe I did. LOL! I enjoyed my visit so much that I booked an appointment for the next day for a microdermabrasion. What a great Christmas gift! read more

I went in for a facial and at first it was really relaxing the standard steaming to open your pores and scrubbing it was all fine, the woman even used a scrapper to get rid of dead skin cells which I liked but then she started popping my pimples not only did it hurt from popping but she then used a needle to dig into my pores and pop them which hurt more, she was explaining how it will help reduce my pores (which actually weren't even that big) but then I told her how I try to avoid pimple popping all together because I easily get scars. I thought at the time that because she's a professional the pimple popping would not leave my skin as inflamed or scarred but sadly I was wrong. My skin was starting to recover from previous pimple scars and then after the facial I have so many scars now and who knows when they will recover. She also put this alcohol on my face and while she did it she said "I really shouldn't be doing this but..." it burned and I wasn't allowed to wash my face till the next day and she told me I wasn't allowed to wax my eyebrows or pluck them for a few days, I looked up online that I wasn't even allowed to work out because the sweat and heat could damage my face more after the facial. I was so upset, she didn't give me a warning or ask if it was okay to pop my pimples or anything. A serious waste of $65 you're better off just scrubbing your own face and following beauty blogs on youtube. read more

I've been a customer of Second Wind Day spa for over 15 years! I absolutely love coming here. Everyone is wonderful, which is why I keep coming back. Recently, I received a promotional text, inviting me to try something new, the "Stretch, Release and Relax" session with Paul. I was hesitant because I prefer female therapists. However, this session encouraged you to wear work out clothes (yay) and that immediately set me at ease. So in the spirit of trying something new, in this New Year and Decade, I thought why not! All I can say is THANK GOD I tried this! This session was AMAZING! Paul was AMAZING and extremely knowledgeable. He explained that this session is interactive and began instructing me on how to stretch with his support every step of the way. It's like I had a personal trainer, but in this instance, Paul did most of the work. He asked if I had any areas that were bothering me and I quickly pointed out my knee was bothering me. He approached my knee with the skill of a physician on pursuit to heal. And healing is what happened. Paul was determined to bring comfort to my ailing knee and he delivered with my highest praise! What surprised me most was how I never had to say if something was hurting me or if the stretch was too much, he just knew. He was completely in-sync to what the stretching was doing to my body. He used the pressure point technique on areas surrounding my knee. It was incredible. I left the session feeling rejuvenated and a bit taller! :) I am now a HUGE fan of stretching, who knew! I was sold out to massage, and still am, but this session has made a believer out of me. So to those die-hard fans of massage, keep on getting those massages, but add this to your wellness plan, you will not be disappointed. Thank you Paul, you are truly gifted in what you do! Good place. I recommend it. Although, i was a little disappointed when i found out the one therapist i liked and felt comfortable with was. No longer working there. I believe her name was Marie. Mary. Or maria. Im sorry cant remember. Its been awhile since i was seen by her. She has perfect pressure. Not to light but certainly not too deep. I have had a lot of massages in my time. For years even. She was so professional and very nice. Her massage was one of the best ones ive ever gotten. I walked inso stressed and in somuch pain and walked out of there feeling great, stress free and in no pain at all. Even days after i felt marvaleous. Its difficult to find a therapist that fits you needs. Most are rude and dont listen to you and do their own thing. They leave you bruised up. You walk out more in pain then you did coming in. Maria, marie. Or mary. I hope to find her name out soon. But like i said she greeted you with a warm smile, a handshake and she had this nice calming vibe. Her massage is fabulous. I felt like a new person. Shes the best!!!! With kids,work and balancing my free time. It was awesome. Im giving 5 stars only because of that one therapist. But i still recommend this spa. This is my favorite day spa! I just finished a head to toes pampering--Jacqueline's facial was gentle, soothing, and my skin glows; Nola is my favorite massage therapist--several of her 90 minutes of her intuitive and experienced massage has eased me through graduate school and today seemed even better than usual; and Rachel's pedicures come complete with warm, moist towels wrapped around my feet and gentle balms massaged into weary heels. The Relaxation Room is soothing; sometimes I wish I could come sit and read for an hour. The energy of the entire place is quiet, peaceful and stress free. And the cherry on top is the staff makes me feel like their favorite customer every time I go in. read more

Booked a Swedish massage and a facial scheduling was good. I arrived ten minutes late so check in was a little rushed I was greeted immediately by a very nice gal. Room was clean and cozy l, laid down and got comfortable the young lady began by putting a heating pad and it felt amazing . However as the massage began pressure started getting a little hard and I told her if she can tone it down and unfortunately it felt more like a deep tissue massage I really couldn't enjoy it because I was tense and it was honestly painful. I woke up sore :/. So now I'm at work with stiff muscles. On a bright note my facial with Becky totally made up for it best facial ever ! No harsh pinching or digging. I was very relaxed and my skin felt great. If your looking to get a facial I recommend going to Becky. She even made me a tea after definitely felt pampered. Prices are reasonable I would go back because it's local and convinient. And again facial was great. read more

I got a gift certificate from my boyfriend on Valentine's Day. Set my appointment a few days later. I got Deep Tissue with Hot Stones. Melissa was my therapist. I told her my troubled spots and she took extra time to work it and explain what she was doing. I feel she did a great job. From beginning to end I enjoyed the whole experience. Have been to Second Wind many times. Some times are better than others that's why I did 4 stars. The place is clean and comfortable. I enjoy the atmosphere, very relaxing. Front office staff at times has been dismissive and that is off putting. I have found it hard to book an appointment on short notice. I get monthly massages else where now because it is cheaper and they actually do more therapeutic massages but I still go to Second Wind for my Hot Stone massages as a treat a few times a year. be very careful when booking in for their "specials" they will charge you full price and try to get away with it !!! I went in for their 2 for Tuesday, I had a 10 % coupon I was told on the phone when I made the appointment that I could use the coupon as well. I did not realize till I got home that I ha been charged full price for BOTH services, one was supposed to be 1/2 off. I think they take advantage of the fact that you are all relaxed afterward and don't pay attention to your bill. I called to complain as was told that I used my coupon and both cannot be used at once, that's why I did not get 2 for Tuesday deal, even though I was told when I made the appointment that I could apply it to that special. The 2 for Tuesday would have been a much better deal than my coupon ! I will not go back to this place, they are dishonest ! read more

My husband bought me a gift certificate for my birthday. It was very nice, but just a couple of things - first of all, the girl called me and let the cat out of the bag the day before, which was a shame (I had originally called just for a facial, so they had my number) - the first girl who called me was great - she pretended that they had a special on and I bought it - so I took away one star for the taking away of the surprise. I had a nice massage and then a very nice facial by Vivienne (not sure of spelling) and then a nice girl did my nails, only I think she put the colour on too thick. by the time I had finished there and sat down in the front (she said I should give it 15 mins before I leave), I noticed the right big toe nail was not done so well. I know she was in a time crunch, so I guess that's why she didn't redo it. I waited 25 mins and then put on the throwaway sandals and drove bare foot back up to Lancaster. There I had to put some shoes on and when I took them off, the left big toe was all messed up as well, so I guess she just put the nail varnish on too thick, so I took off a star for that. Other than that they did a good job.....was just a little bit disappointed. read more
