I stopped into 2nd wave Coffee while I was in Lexington SC. The coffee was great! It is close to parks and had a cute outdoor space. I was so surprised on this location. It is so unique it offers different rooms in each room. It feels like you're in a cozy library. They also allow dogs which I loved. The furniture and shop is a little dated, but adds character. My pup and I sat in a room and took a couple meetings and it felt so cozy and comfortable. I felt like I was at home and had enough privacy. read more

Wow...where can I start!!! I'm in a stressful spot in life and needing to get a lot of things done so I come here while I'm visiting my mom. I was taken away by how awesome the place looks! It's very homey and cozy. I got a toasted marshmallow and hazelnut iced coffee and it was absolutely amazing! The Chi was on point as well! I have absolutely nothing to add to the coffee or books, in fact I didn't even go inside sadly. We went for their pumpkin patch last year and the kids had a blast. There is a short little walk through the woods (caution probably not suitable for handicap people) then they all picked out a small pumpkin to take home. The folks working the table were friendly, the drinks we bought (just bottled) were nice and cold. Would like to go back by and checkout the inside. Only qualm is it's a bear getting in and out of here. No fault of this place people just speed up and down the hill there on so use caution. read more

I'm not usually one to write a negative review but i want to save others from wasting their time and money. The set up is cute and has a lot of potential to be a really great space. The lack of care into the curation of drinks and having a nice environment to sit down and enjoy coffee/do work was so overwhelming. The barista was obviously too busy for what he could handle, and I did feel bad for him. However, he moved so incredibly slow for the amount of orders he had. I got a french press and there were grounds in my cup and he didn't give back my mug I gave him to put my coffee in. The cold foam also came out as hot steamed milk! This seems like a great place to meet with friends. They have lots of options for seating, many semi-private. And a great patio with several fire pits. I am not sure i would consider them a bookstore so much as a coffee shop that sells a few used books. The service was fine, and my coffee wasn't anything to write home about but it was alright. They also sell beer. I thought the coffee prices were a bit steep, but I think you are partially paying for use of the space, which makes it worth it. read more

While I absolutely love the atmosphere at Second Wave, the increase in price for food is absolutely ridiculous. I went to order a bagel with my coffee this morning and it was $7 for a BAGEL! she clicked on bagel in the system and it said it was $3.50 but then when she clicked on the flavor (blueberry) it added another $3.65. I'm sorry that's INSANE. And a couple of weeks ago when I was here, that was NOT the price. someone messed up the system and the barista there didn't even try to make it right. That either needs to be changed, or explained to customers because $7 for a little bagel is insane. read more

This place is definitely off the beaten path. The place looks Like a home. When you walk in there are books everywhere with people actually sitting around reading them. The atmosphere is cozy and made me want to crack a book, but I'm an audible guy myself. The main event is the coffee. I can drink any coffee but I do love smooth and silky coffee, and this place had it. No burnt flavor like some lattes. The latte was smooth and not too sweet, but just right. Had a great time with my kids at the pumpkin patch and outdoor games until a couple came bringing their own alcohol (multiple trips to the car for More beer) and smoking right where the outdoor games are. When I went inside I was told they are regulars and they keep an eye on them. Sadly this made what was a fun place for my 3 year old to play no longer kid friendly. My husband and I have had coffee in many towns and cities. And we dislike Starbucks. You can call us coffee snobs. Lovely place. Nice vibes. Friendly service. But the latte left a lot to be desired. I got the Nutella hazelnut latte. I could taste the milk and the chocolate and hazelnut syrups. But I couldn't taste even a hint of coffee. You know when some coffees have that nice rich crema from just the expresso being extracted? You know you have a good coffee. No crema and no taste whatsoever of coffee. 5 stars My brother and I were out running errands and he was driving. When he took a turn into the driveway, I thought it was a park at first. He had found this place one day while he was power walking and thought I might like it. My family likes to call me a cookie monster because I love big fat cookies, especially the ones with "Reeses Peanut Butter Cups" baked into them. When we opened the door, the cookie rack was the first thing I spotted. Needless to say this place was a hit with me, right away. We each had one and they were baked to perfection. In addition, I had an iced hazelnut latte and brother had the iced mocha chocolate latte. They were very good and available "hot" as well. The place was cozy and had several different areas to sit and read or visit with a friend. There was plenty of off street parking and picnic table areas outside to enjoy as well. We toured the rooms and each was a bit different, which made it an interesting place. There were lots of books, too. Highly recommended. read more

It is very cute with lots of outdoor seating. On good weather days this coffee shop would be a great hangout for children's playgroups and other small gatherings. However, service is not fast and coffee/drinks are pricey (I think more than Starbucks). I believe the operation has an affiliation with ARC. There was 1 worker and 1 observer at the time of my visit. It took more than 40 mins from when I walked in the dr to when I received my coffee order. There were 4 drinks ordered ahead of me. How can you not give a place like this 5 stars? Sure, it's not Starbucks tasting coffee or treats but that's not the aim here. It's all about the atmosphere and having a good time. They hire people with disabilities to work the location and you really feel loved by everyone. My wife and I have relaxed here with a good book many times (outdoor and indoors). They're always hosting some kind of themed event and or charity. If you live in Lexington definitely stop in here every once in a while even if it's just to say hi. read more

Interesting little coffee shop. It's a converted house. There are ample places to work but it felt a little too homey for me to want to do work there honestly. It's nice that they hire people with disabilities. The latte I ordered wasn't the best and was watered down but the sugar cookie was good. Great coffee! Staff was very friendly and accommodating. My two year old was having a bit of a tantrum, as we were about to leave because of it, they told me they had a room with toys. My son loved it and we were able to have our coffee in peace. They have a room full of books for sale at awesome prices. So glad we stumbled upon this place! Will definitely be back. read more

I knew when we walked in and they were in a deep discussion of who the worst Disney villain was that I had found my place. This place is an absolute dream! I don't know what is better the games, the river, the customer service, or the coffee. It is incredibly hard to decide but one thing is for sure I have found my happy space! I'm so glad I found this fabulous hidden gem near the intersection of Highway 6 and I-20.. I was invited to a graduation event a few weekends ago and was so impressed that I returned the following week during a visit from Charleston. Both times I purchased coffee and books.
