This is kind of an upscale thrift store, or a low-end antique store... neither of which matters because if you are looking for quality items and a great deal, this is a wonderful place to shop. Bonus points added because proceeds help area animals. Everything is well organized, even the clothes. Gently used, vintage, new with tags - there's a little bit of something for everyone. This is the best thrift store I have found in the area. I found 3 beautiful vintage Madame Alexander Dolls (Marmie, Amy, and Beth) for $15 each. The store was extremely clean and the prices were great. The selection was wide - I also found many vintage knick knacks, some books and other housewares, including a very useful pet food dispenser. There are clear references to animal rescue everywhere you looked. It s wonderful to know that your money will go to help animals. I think I will go back there now! read more

My review is from a donor's point of view. As far as their store goes, It's quite nice, very clean & organized. And it's for a great cause. Also, I'd like to say, I support various animal rescue groups in the Atlanta Area. It's a worthy cause, and I really wish I could give Second Life more stars. Here's my gripe, they can certainly do a better job in the customer service department . I've made about dozen donations to this thrift store over the last year and a half, and every time I come in with a bag of goods, or pull my truck around to the back with donations, I barely get an acknowledgement. In fact, they are down right cold. One time , I donated some high end vintage jewelry, which could have brought me some $$$ on ebay, but I decided to make a donation to second life instead, because I am a huge animal lover. When I presented my donation to the employee, she didn't even make eye contact with me. I was instructed set the box down on the table so she could inspect it. There was no thank you, no offer for a tax receipt or not even the generic, "have a nice day, ma'am". This was very good jewelry, so I checked back to see if it had sold, and sure enough, most of it was sold within 2 weeks. I know the issue isn't with the quality of stuff I'm donating. I can certainly understand a luke warm attitude if I were bringing in junk. After my last donation, the staff member acted as if I was putting him out when I pulled up with my donations. When I delivered my box of goods, he rudely turned his back to me and walked away. That's when I decided this would be my last donation to Second Life. One final thing, just to give a little background about me, I helped run a charity thrift store for 6 years (it was one of the best experiences of my life), and I would NEVER in a million years, allow myself, my staff or my community service volunteers ignore or insult our donors. We were always grateful for our donations and we always made sure to tell our donors THANK YOU. After all, they are the ones supplying the inventory out of the kindness of their hearts (and their expense). Also, you would be surprised how many donations have tremendous emotional attachments. You don't know if that set of golf clubs came from someone's father who just lost their battle with cancer. A simple thank you can go a long way. read more

Very nice, appropriately sized thrift store - I was impressed that there was a decent enough sized men's clothing area (the women's was larger, as seems to be normal in Atlanta, but I still found an item I wanted). This is not a large store like a Goodwill, but very clean and without the stale/"thrift store" smell. The store also features some free roaming dogs who are very friendly. Be aware, it is a tad cramped between aisles, but not impossibly so. I plan on checking back here regularly. read more

I am a thrifting afficionado and I really love this thrift store. It's not dirt cheap, but it's almost always full of quality items in good condition. I really like this store because their shoes are oftentimes higher-end shoes with little wear on them. They also have days when they are having specials, which makes the deals even sweeter. I would like to start off by saying I love the fact this store is very pro-dogs and animals, it had my hopes up... the selections were really solid and the place was organized. Everything on paper set it up to be a really solid consignment/thrift store. Solid prices... but the employees are not very nice. I asked them if I could set my stuff up at the front while I grabbed a few more items and it was made into a whole ordeal with a thousand explanations so I said forget it and walked away. My friends mask fell down and a pretentious assuming comment was made to her to pull it up even though it was a innocent accident. It's rather hot inside there... no air running/82 degrees outside and I started to sweat holding all my clothing items and mask on... so I started to feel overwhelmed, didn't wanna go get a buggy... and was put off by their unwillingness to help me hold things so I could get more! (The irony) and it stopped my shopping trip early. Would have probably spent more money if I was jiving with the energy in there from the employees... but sadly I think it's more for older people and younger crowds aren't treated the same. Felt like I was treated like a nuisance.... After the experience I asked my friend if she'd ever been there cause we both lived in Avondale for years and she immediately said "it's cool but I recall the people in there being really up right and pretentious". So it's crazy we both had the same experiences... I've felt more welcomed at a goodwill. :( read more

Second Life is a nice thrift store located in Avondale Estates. There is fairly decent sized parking lot right next to the building. The main store offers up clothing, accessories, home goods, games. etc. There is also a separate building that sells furniture. It is one of the pricier thrift stores, but the stuff is pretty much all in very good condition. You can also return something if there is an issue. For example, I found later that the suitcase i purchased had a bum wheel. :-( I have found quite a few nice clothing and jewelry items while shopping here. They offer up different sales on different days - they will update you on specials if you are on their email list. read more

I swear, the most beautiful souls work here. Ive never felt more welcomed walking into a store before until I entered here. I didn't realize there was a furniture store next door. When my friend and I walked in we were treated so nicely, we had to buy SOMETHING lol - that's how they get me. Im such a sucker for genuine people. The prices are fair and the items are pretty decent. The clerk told us about the store next door and how they carried designer items (I guess because I was carrying a designer handbag). I was tempted to look but I was on a business mission on this shopping trip. I guess I looked tired while trying to decide on a piece and the lady told me to take a seat on the couch and relax for a moment. Another gentleman walked in with a big beautiful brown dog. He said he was the store's mascot. He came over to sniff me out. This store has such a lovely vibe, Untiiiiiil a girl from next door came over to confront one of the guys about something really petty but they worked it out nicely. I wasn't eavesdropping, they were talking loud enough lol but I was totally okay with that - they worked it out. Funny story happened when we left. My friend ran out of gas soooo we walked back in to find out if the clerk had a gas can. He checked everywhere and even checked to see if someone had donated one. No luck, There's a police station next door so my friend thought that she would ask the officers if they had a gas can that she could borrow. Yeah right. They didn't even think twice. The clerk told us to go to Chevron down the street and ask the attendant to borrow a gas can lol I was like damn are people this nice around Avondale Estates? It didn't work lol not even sure of my friend asked. She just sucked it up and asked for $20 worth of gas in a one-gallon gas can. That was hilarious. Anyway, I will definitely be in the area again and will make sure I take a peak and look for some Prada shoes the gentleman next door was talking about ;-) read more

Love this place. A well-run thrift store that awesomely puts its proceeds into animal rescue, which is a fantastic business model. I have both shopped here, finding some cool stuff (and spent about $3), and also donated some items to them. This thrift store has all the usual thrift store stuff: knickknacks, electronics, VHS, DVD, music, clothes, books, jewelry, bric a brac, etc. There's also a companion store a few feet away with some more stuff, like furniture. If you are in Decatur this is a great place to stop and shop, support, and donate any excess stuff you have. Homeless and troubled animal friends are counting on it. read more

I like this place. Great place to shop for second hand items and great place to donate items to. All proceeds go to support animal rescue and you can bring your dog with you to shop which is fun. The selection here varies a lot based on recent donations, but everything is more than reasonably priced. I have found some stellar items here on some trips. Staff has been friendly and nice every time I have been. They also frequently have a cat or kittens for adoption. I like to support this place! It's a great shop to have in the community. read more

My favorite thrift store by far. I first visited Second Life not too longer after they first opened in 2011 and go frequently throughout the year. I have and will absolutely continue to support them. Like someone else said, the most beautiful souls work here and what they do absolutely benefits animals, makes impacts on our metro Atlanta communities and other places/ways I can't even begin to imagine. I've donated my stuff to them countless times and bought a whole range of items including clothes, kitchen items, jewelry, furniture/rugs, and more. The store is very organized and they consistently seek to make the store even better. Their communication whether via email or other social media etc and whether it's about their sales or a pet in need of foster/rescue is excellent. They are exactly why I do not feel compelled to shop at malls :) And plus, it benefits the animals! Why not? read more

when this store first opened, they had good stuff at good prices, however in the last few months their prices have gone through the roof. I'm at an understanding that thrift stores are supposed to a place where you can find used stuff at used prices, not pay for something you can find at wal mart for the same price! $20.00 for a pair of used earrings that aren't even gold or anything?!?! get a grip people!!! I understand that they are trying to support dog rescues, but you gotta draw the line somewhere. as to their staff, I read a review saying they could use a little manners, I experienced this myself, they act like you are the scum of the earth, and watch their tricky cashiers, I was present when one tried to charge a customer for something they decided not to get. all in all, they are rude and over priced, if you really want to help out dogs, then you can consider shopping here, if you're looking for a place to get nice service and decent prices, I'd just go somewhere else, salvation army, goodwill, value village at least they have"thrift store" prices. I for one will never shop here again... I've been treated bad for the last time. I also will not refer this place to anyone ever again. read more
