FODAC has long been one of my favorite thrift stores. I have found some treasures here and I think they have one of the best furniture selections in the are when it comes to a combo of quality and price. I believe they have raised prices recently in an attempt to keep up with inflation. I understand why this is necessary, but when the prices start to compete with or surpass Walmart, thrifting feels a lot less joyful. Today I saw a bottle of expired Suave body wash priced at $5. I hope the store will revisit their pricing strategy and come up with an approach that will allow them to remain profitable while still offering deals for their customers. read more

This used to be my favorite thrift store: a large store with lots of furniture and good service. I've been here several times in the last few months, but I've finally decided that this was my last visit. They still have a large store, lots of furniture, and good service, but the prices have become outrageous. I've seen several things that came from the dollar store marked at 4 or 5 dollars or more. Things that came from other stores are marked higher than the original price. One old crockpot (not even a nice one) was marked $18. I just bought a nice one at another thrift store for $6 the week before. That's my basic finding: prices here are 2-3 times higher than nearby thrift stores. I realize prices everywhere are going up, but at these prices (higher than I can get the item new in a lot of cases) this isn't really a thrift store anymore. I even saw a can of shaving cream for $8. Who's pricing this stuff? read more

Dropped off very gently used medical equipment. Guy even helped me unload car. Someone else will get to use practically brand new wheelchair and never used bedside commode. These were prescribed for a family member. read more

We stopped in to make donations of medical equipment at the dock recently. We also learned that FODAC accepts all kinds of donations for the thrift store, so we decided to include nice clothing, kitchen, and other like-new household items we had boxed up to donate at another non-profit organization. We had cleaned out the home of a family member, who recently passed away, so we had a multitude of various items. Giving up these items was emotional and we found the staff members to not only be helpful, unloading the heavy items for us, but compassionate and understanding. We did a little more research on the organization and found this to be a very reputable charity. Hopefully the items we donated will contribute to the work they do serving disabled adults and children. read more

They accept all kinds of donations, and provide medical equipment for free to those who actually need it. They always have a good selection in the thrift store as well. FODAC stands for Friends of Disabled Adults and Children, and it's a beautiful charity that provides, among other things, free medical and mobility equipment for those in need. Shop at the FODAC thrift store and you're advancing that cause, so bring your largest checkbook. They get some incredible things here. Genuine antiques -- not all day every day, but frequently enough to make you want to stop by once a week. Prices can be high on the really fine items. Regardless, stuff sells fast. If you see something quality, don't do as I have (occasionally and regretfully) done and go home to "think it over." A selection of my finds: All the dinner plates I own (which are beautiful, oval, restaurant-supply, lead-free Homer Laughlin), for a dollar each; a set of three solid-wood Gothic (!) bookcases for $125; an early twentieth-century, Craftsman-style glass-front display case which had obviously been "built-in" at some point, $50 (and yes, you must use hyphens liberally at this place); a deluxe Eddie Bauer stroller for $12; as well as some of the finest, and largest, signed and numbered prints I've ever purchased, all in the $20 range. Main drawback is the hours: Closed Sunday and Monday, only open until 5 Tuesday through Friday and 4 on Saturday. Personally I don't get out of bed til 4 on Saturday, but hey, my loss is your gain. You can't spend your money anywhere more deserving than FODAC. read more

If you, or know of someone who is disabled and needs any Medical Supplies, this is the place that will help you for small fee based on your income. All Rollator Walker's, Wheelchairs, and Canes are Brand New! They also work on your Electric Scooter and will give you a new battery if needed as well as service it to make sure that it's safe. If you need anything, it's best to call ahead of time! Be prepared to wait unless you are shopping in the Thrift store. FODAC's prices may seem high, but that's the only thing that helps fund the needs of Disabled people WORLD WIDE! I have known about FODAC since it was operating in the first non-profit owners basement fixing old donated and found Wheelchairs! Please check it out, better yet Volunteer! They need people that can work on equipment, computers, tighten up brakes on Rollator, Wheelchairs, size people for their Walker's, etc. They also need used Hospital beds, walkers, Wheelchairs, Bedside tables, Bedside Toilets, etc., AND TIME of any kind! Cannot believe there are not more reviews of this place! I used to work nearby so I would go in 2-3 times a week to see what's new and if what I was considering to purchase later was still there. Often items I had procrastinated on, were...gone...but I was never dissapointed, they always have great stuff with MORE than reasonable prices. I mostly purchased computers, which they always have a ton of! They are in great shape, with certified windows, usually Windows 10 on them. Not super old/outdated machines either. Everytime I would walk out with my purchase thinking I had gotten yet another deal. I give these away as gifts after adding specific software tailored to the recipient. Great buys on furniture as well, as another has stated! Clean store; professionally down to earth staff...no shenanigans whatsoever. Working way out of the area now so not so easy to feed my curiosity any more. But, since writing this review, I am planning a trip over there....and I know I'll get re-hooked!
