It is pleasant enough on the inside, but pretty non descript. I wouldn't come here for the atmosphere. However if you like clean open concept this may be a place for you. Our server was friendly and helpful, giving her reccomendations. Menu is diverse with many things to try. But not so many that you are overwhelmed. We decided to split a few things. The Korean Schnitzel - Pork Tenderloin, Asian Slaw, Sweet & Sour Sauce, and Peanuts The Saganaki with Honey, Walnuts, and Lemon and the Happy Burger with Gruyere, Bacon Jam, Pickles, Lettuce, Tomato Food came out in a timely manner. Everything was good, but not standoutish that I would run here again. For sure the best bang for your buck was the korean schnitzel. The thing was massive. It was pleasant. Loved the peanuts and slaw that came with it. The saganaki was tasty. The burger which came highly recommended, was decent but by far, not "one of the best burgers" in Edmonton (That was quoted to us.) I much perfer the one at The Next Act. However it was yummy. If you are in the area it is worth checking out. However I wouldn't drive across the town to come here.

If there's one recent restaurant opening that I've been pretty excited about, it has to be Happy &…read moreOlive. They appeared on the scene last year at a time when opening a new restaurant might have been viewed as an outlandish idea. But with the people behind other such beloved favourites as Red Ox Inn and Canteen at the helm it could be assumed that they had a pretty good idea of what they were doing. In a short amount of time (less than a year!) Happy & Olive has been named Favourite New Restaurant 2023 in the Edmonton Journal and Best New Restaurant 2024 in EDify Magazine. And they're not wrong! Located in Crestwood (in Crestwood Centre to be exact - lots of great businesses there and easy parking!) you'll find a fresh little spot on the corner, a restaurant that is still all bright eyed and esthetically beautiful. The decor isn't over the top; just nice finishes, a combination of various types of seating, a central bar area, and an approachable atmosphere. It feels like a down to earth space while maintaining clean lines and modern sensibilities. The patio is also very lovely and I was happy to grab a table out there on a warm July evening. I found our server to be helpful, friendly, and happy to offer some guidance as needed. Once settled in, I began to peruse the beverage menu and was pleased to find a rather good non-alcoholic cocktail portion of the menu, a trend that is really nice to see on more and more menus. I enjoy a boozy beverage as much as the next gal but sometimes I'm just not in the mood. On this occasion the list of five libation-free drinks were very welcome and I was glad to order The Gabby (Fresh mint, lemon, sugar water, bitters - $7.00). However, I will say that if you want to stay right on the olive theme it would be a great idea to order The Olive cocktail along with an order of Warm Olives - live your best olive dreams! Absolute perfection on a hot day! Not only was this beverage sweet and also tart, it was incredibly refreshing. The mint and lemon really made the drink feel like something quintessential to sip on in the summertime. A perfectly ideal patio choice! I enjoyed the way that Happy & Olive breaks down their menu. Do you want something "crispy?" (Um, yes. Everyone does.) There's also "this & that" or how about most people's favourite; "bread things." Or maybe you just need the "hungry" part of the menu. I did find that I required a bit of clarification on whether the plates were meant to be shared and it turned out that a communal dining style was the main intention. Armed with this information we set about ordering a whole bunch of plates that caught our attention with the plan for us all to try a bit of everything. (I love doing this with my family because we all enjoy eating the same foods. I don't like it as much when I go out with friends because, in some cases, tastes can vary quite a lot.) I'd heard a lot of excited buzz about the Fries (Rosemary, Parmesan, garlic oil, lemon aioli - $9.00) so clearly those were a must! Just when I thought that I knew everything that a french fry could be... I was served these. And wow, they are something special. Ultra crispy and likely double fried, the sprinkling of rosemary and parm really added a punch of unexpected flavour. The true surprise, however, was the lemon aioli, which was an absolute delight. I'm not sure that I've ever tasted anything quite like it! Creamy and fresh, this simple dipping sauce brought a whole brunch of bright acidity. It's always nice when a dish lives up to expectations and these fries certainly did. I had also heard that Happy & Olive had a latke menu at some point?? This wasn't the case on my visit but I love a latke and I'm super curious about what this entailed. Next up were the Crab Cakes (Remoulade, fennel celery slaw - $22.00) which I sometimes find can be hit or miss but I loved the sounds of these ones and had to give them a try. Positively golden on the outside, cutting into these crispy cakes revealed a luscious interior. Like a crab flavour bomb, I was met with actual crab meat and a satisfying mix of textures. I also loved the crunchy and refreshing slaw. I find fennel to be a completely underrated vegetable and it's one of my favourites. I always order it when I spot it on a menu! This dish completely nailed it for me and I think that it was the biggest winner of the night in my opinion. As mentioned previously, the Warm Olives (Marinated Happy style - $9.00) just seem like something that you should probably order at a restaurant called Happy & Olive... I wasn't sure what "Happy style" meant but I was excited to find out! I loved the variation of types and stunning colours, like little jewels. I'm not sure why this was surprising (it says "warm" right on the menu) but these really were very warm! The oil that they were bathed in was hot, even. Grabbing a piping olive and tossing it into my mouth was a satisfying experience. I also loved how aromatic they were with the use of rosema

The highlight though was the side cucumber salad. The cucumbers were lightly pickled and delicious. My partner ordered the quiche. She said that it was good but not very filling for the price. In my first review I only gave them 3 stars because the coffee was not hot. I drink it black so people who add milk and or sugar would definitely notice the temperature. This time the temperature was at the low side of normal so it went down quickly. Here's the thing. The server noticed my cup was empty and asked it I would like a second cup. She said it's free with meals (drip coffee). I was impressed because only a few places offer that important second cup. Surprisingly the second cup of coffee was served at just the right temperature. I really appreciated the easy listening music that was not turned way up like so many places do these days. The ambiant sound was pleasant and it was easy to have a conversation. This is a very relaxing place to hang out. I can now give four stars and can easily recommend Awn.

They serve breakfast, lunch, and have a few selections of hot/cold drinks. The menu is pretty small. I ordered a breakfast sandwich (the only one on the menu) which was almost $15. It was just the sandwich alone and it did not come with any sides. I went home and added my own sides. I ordered mine to go and it came in a tiny container. The sandwich was pretty good. It had a hearty/organic taste to it. Unfortunately because I ordered it to go, the egg yolk ran in the box making the sandwich soggy and messy. If I had known that I would've just ordered something else or came back when I had more time to sit in the cafe to enjoy it. Although enjoyable, the sandwich was a little small for the price and with no sides it's not something I'm itching to order again. I'd probably stop by for a drink though. The girls working the counter were very nice. There were a few tables and a bar by the window where you could sit.

This is fact was not the case. the puppies where put in a very small pen and you would only get to visit them for not even 5 mins. The pen hardly big enough to fit all 3 puppies was also saturated with pee of which I had to step on to see the puppies. The selection of pottery was very limited and all started at a super high price point. it would have been nice to have some more affordable options. To top it off I wanted to pay and a staff memeber was asking for my personal information half way across the store. I had to ask them to come closer so my information would not be disclosed to those around me. I'm happy the cost of the event is going to help the shelter but this could have been better executed.

Located on the west side and there was quite a bit of parking available. But it was crowded in the cafe and even the playhouse was quite busy. They said they limit the number of kids in the space and you have to pre-book your 60 minute time slot. 60 minutes flew by! And it felt like we didn't get quite enough time to explore and really appreciate all the little houses and details. But that must be the allure of going again! Our babies favourite activities at the playhouses were the slide and the little play restaurant. The slide was busy and tight quartered. But the little stairs and crash section at the bottom were well placed. The play restaurant was good great, they had all the condiments and so many cute plastic food items for a variety of kids to play with. I recall one kid yelling out 'Ice Cream, Ice Cream'. So fun! There was also costumes, a colouring station, suction building blocks, a wooden play body/operation table. The baby area also looked nice, cozy and with some great stimulating toys. It's a bit pricey and it's too bad it's only a 60 minute booking but in February they had a 1/2 price deal so for just under $5 I felt like that wasn't too bad to check it out. If you do get to check out the cafe I would recommend their signature blue Butterfly Pea latte- it was super sweet and creamy and delightful.

Cute little place in a residential neighbourhood, all-vegan, run by a friendly woman. I phoned in our order (curry tofu wrap and tofu scramble wrap) and came to pick it up half an hour later -- the woman sure was persistent over the phone about upselling me add-ons to our order. ;-) When we arrived, the wraps were ready, and we got some spanikopitas and coffees for the road. Both our wraps were very tasty and certainly filling. When it came time for our afternoon snacks, the spanikopitas turned out to be amazing. I never really liked spanikopitas before I went vegan, but this vegan rendition was amazing -- the tofu/spinach filling was delicious, the pastry was delectable but rather oily, and the dip it came with was the perfect accompaniment. This was a gem of a place and I'll definitely return when in Edmonton.
