Was taken here by family. They wanted us to enjoy one of the towns bests pizza. We sat inside and reminds me of a pizza parlor pr tavern. Had an old jukebox inside. Sadly it wasn't working. Wasnt too busy when we got their. The lady who took pur order wss very nice and patient. They do take a while on the order but eith wmgpod reasoning. They even have a sign posted about it. Ample amount of parking The pizza itself we did a half n half. It wss half pepperoni and the other half jukebox special ( spicey Italian sausage, onions, black olives, and mushrooms. Overall pretty good. Nice crust. Drinks were coke products. They do serve some beers on tap and have some wine or selzers. The staff even greeted us a goodbye as we left the establishment. read more

I used to rate this as one of the very best places to eat in Sandpoint, and I'm a long time local. That's why we took my husband's sister there this afternoon. We went in at 4:30PM. There was almost nobody there. No line, nobody in the restaurant but us. An hour and a half later, after seeing people who came in way after us get their orders, I finally went up and asked after ours. Oops. "We'll get it right out to you." And then, from our table, I watched them go through the to-go boxes set on top of the ovens to keep them warm. Obviously, they had put ours as a to go by mistake. So our pizza came to the table without even a cursory "Sorry about that" or anything, got set down, and was all but unpalatable. The crust was hard as a rock, the meat and toppings dried out. It was not worth the $40 I paid. So, my husband went and talked to the manager, because he was not happy that his sister had a lousy meal out on our say-so. We'd have been better off going to some franchise fast food joint, that's how bad it was. And the manager? She just shrugged. Too bad, so sad. "YOu can see how busy we are," said she. We wanted pizza the night before a long road trip so we would have something to take with us. The restaurant was busy but the pizza was ready fairly quickly. I ordered large Carolyn's Special. It felt like 10 lbs when I picked it up. The pluses are - fresh toppings and lots if them. The down side is the toppings are stacked so high that they stick to the top of the box and the bottom of the box got soggy which caused both of us to eat a little cardboard. We got an amazing, large pizza, 1/2 with meats and 1/2 with veggies. The pizza was so heaped with toppings that we ended up eating it with forks! It took a while waiting for it to get to our table, but we were warned they take a little longer than most, but that we won't be disappointed. AND, we weren't disappointed. A couple of people have told me how good the pizza is. So Inhad to try. We were the people in today. The place is older so had that old smell but once the ovens got going it wasn't as noticeable. The pizza was good however the mass ingredients may be a little overkill. I would tone it down a bit and it will still be good. I will note that I think I detected allspice in the taco pizza and I didn't care for that. Also, instead of avacado I would crunched up Doritos and less lettuce. read more

My husband and I were in Sandpoint for an appointment so we decided to eat at Second Avenue Pizza. We both ordered the turkey and swiss sandwich, rather than pizza so I can't give a pizza review. The sandwich plate was large with potato chips on both plates and I ordered a side salad and my husband ordered potato salad, both of which were average. The sandwich was quite large so we only ate half while we were there. We both thought the sandwich was just okay. The turkey was supposed to be smoked but it didn't taste like it. The sandwich was on a French roll but we didn't really like the bread. The restaurant is very run down and it has a strange musty odor, which makes it difficult to enjoy the experience. The counter staff is friendly and attentive. We probably will not be back. read more

They don't skimp on anything. The kind of pizza that's so heavy with toppings you may just have to use a fork and knife to eat it. The presentation of the pizza was great. Looked like a good ol' traditional American pizza pie. Topping falling off with every bit because there's so much. Cooked in brick ovens it left the crust perfect! Crispy bottom. It was great. The guy was telling me they make the dough and sauce fresh daily. The downside... lacked flavor. I felt like if they added some spices and seasonings it would have put them over the edge. To the eyes it looked magical, ready to fulfill your pizza cravings... but left you wanting more flavor as you started eating it. Ate some without the toppings. Just the crust with their sauce. The sauce tasted like homemade tomato sauce with no spices. Just like crushed tomatoes. The lady at the counter was very unfriendly. The pizza took forever to come out, and was barely warm when we got it, even though the crust was well done.. Second Ave Pizza is the best! We have been coming here for 22 years. I do not live in Sandpoint anymore but when i come back i always have to come get the Hawaiian pizza! Ive never had bad service, sometimes it can be slow but thats when the restaurant is packed. I love the atmosphere, and i miss the juke box. Fairly priced, loaded, and tasty pizza! Glad to learn of this place today. They were accommodating to our mushrooms-on-one-side order. It's like a pizza joint and wouldn't like it any other way. It is a nice place to eat a delicious pizza. Tables were clean and the lights are at a good setting. We had the Schweitzer Ski Flake without the bacon, and the Carolyn Special. Pros: pizza was great, loaded toppings and cheese, very tasty. Cons: service was not friendly and we had to wait an hour for our food. We saw 2 separate tables come in after us and get their pizzas sooner. After 45 minutes I asked about our order and they said it would be a bit longer and were very short with us. The sign above the order desk says they won't sacrifice quality for a quick order. Not sure how an order of garlic bread can take 50 minutes and pizza can take over 60 minutes. This was my 1st visit ever, on Halloween night. We were pleasantly surprised it was open on a Sunday night when many places aren't. It did appear closed from the outside when we pulled up and we almost left but noted a few cars outside. The menu is pretty straight forward, nothing too fancy or odd. I forgot to snap a pic unfortunately. We spent about $32 for a large half combo and half pepperoni/pineapple along with a soda and a tap beer. When we go to other establishments, we end up with 3-4 pieces leftover. Here, we ended up with 6 pieces and was still pleasantly full. We're talking generous toppings here folks, especially the sausage! The toppings were of quality, I loved the slight taste of caraway seeds in the sausage. It could have used a tad more sauce, and the crust was a perfect balance between hand tossed and thin crust. Although, we did note on one side of the pizza the crust was a bit more darkened/crunchy and part of the middle was more doughy...so maybe a hot spot in the oven where a little more rotating is needed and perhaps would ensure evenness. Although with that being said, it still didn't take any enjoyment away. It seemed to have stayed fairly steady the whole time we were there, a handful of tables still needed to be bussed, and the plates and silverware could have been attended to a tad more, but nothing to be disgusted by. Overall it was a nice relaxing environment with a couple of different sectioned/levels of seating but plenty of space. The restrooms were fairly clean but busy and only a one stall situation. Since they were on the way past the open sided kitchen I was able to appreciate how surprisingly clean it was! All staff we interacted with were pleasant and prompt. We shall return! read more
