Since I'm Vietnamese American, it was important to me to also hire a Vietnamese American coordinator who could understand any underlying cultural dynamics and be able to communicate with my side of the family, so Mellie Bee had been in the back of my mind for years even before I got engaged. Melissa put me at ease during our initial consultation and I appreciated her honesty about what services we would practically and realistically need, which is why I moved forward with booking. Leading up to the day, I knew we were in good hands. Melissa and her team worked with us to put together a meticulous wedding day timeline and master checklist, combing through every single detail and trying to account for any potential friction points and setbacks. During the rehearsal and on the day, Melissa was always checking in on us, letting us know we were being taken care of, and making sure to stay on top of everything. We had a few hiccups throughout the day that sometimes verged on panic-inducing, but Melissa and her team kept us calm and smoothed things over every step of the way. We loved the energy and enthusiasm they all brought, and they really helped our wedding be a fun and memorable experience that wasn't overcast by stress and mishaps. Having a professional by your side is a must for any big event, and we highly recommend Mellie Bee Events! Thank you so much for all your hard work, Melissa!

She immediately jumped in, took control of the details, and made sure nothing was overlooked. She was also great at being the main point of contact with all of our vendors, so I didn't have to worry about a thing or play middleman. I instantly trusted her, and she gave us so much confidence that everything would turn out perfect. On the day of the wedding, Sharon and her team were truly outstanding. We weren't sure if a wedding planner was necessary--but boy were we sooo glad to have found Sharon!…read moreAfter our consult phone call with her, my now-husband was like--she's the one! His first thought was that she was so easy to talk to and he felt comfortable voicing his opinions to her, which I'm sure can be hard as the groom. She's just a very calming presence and you just know you can count on her. Her professional experience definitely showed throughout the process and during our day. Through wedding planning, I realized that I'm pretty type-A and detail-oriented, but also indecisive! Sharon was so incredibly patient and so accepting of all my ideas and changing my vision throughout the process. This can be very daunting, but she was so reassuring the whole time. I appreciated her responsiveness as well, always getting back to me on a timely process and was always available to talk details and design. She always always always followed through with each step--every email, every loose end. She really held our hand and made the process much easier, especially since it was technically a destination wedding for us. Our wedding was located in Socal because the majority of our friends and family live there, but we are actually local to Boston. Sharon was soo helpful to us from afar and even went to help scout out some places for us--which was not necessary at all but soo helpful to have someone professional lay eyes on places for us that we couldn't see in person. On the big day, our family members were absolutely stunned to say the least and couldn't stop complimenting all the decorations, how smoothly everything went, and most people even said that it was all around the best wedding they've been ever been to! What a compliment. She coordinating soo many moving pieces on the big day--the massive florals, all our crazy rentals and extra vendors, and was soo sweet throughout everything, cool calm and collected which made everyone else involved also calm. We just knew we could trust her fully on the day and really enjoy ourselves. I'm sure she did so much more that we didn't even notice too especially behind the scenes. She's very detail-oriented and often noticed many little things throughout the planning process that we never even thought of. She's just the best. We absolutely love Sharon so much and do not know what we would have done with out her. -Helene and Sinjin

We called Lauren ten minutes after stumbling on Laurel & Fey's Yelp page, and Lauren answered on the first ring, despite being in the middle of watching her two kids. That's the kind of communication we had with her in the 8 or so months we spent planning the wedding together. Lauren was such a grounding, calming force, and her incredible eye for design really paid off. It should be noted that this was not an easy wedding to plan: - My husband and I are both Jewish and halfway into planning this wedding, we realized we'd need to pivot and go with a kosher caterer, seeing as a number of our guests were religious. That meant that the design Lauren had created had to be thrown out because we couldn't use rented plates. Lauren came up with a new, beautiful design incorporating the caterer's plates and silverware. - We had a large guest count (ended up being 260 but it could have been 360). - My husband's family is from Azerbaijan, so on top of the kosher element, we needed the food to be served in a certain way (essentially every thirty minutes, family style, and tons of it). - Our ceremony was really nontraditional and incorporated a lot of theatrics (fun, but a challenge to get right, timing-wise). - We had long hours (5pm-2am). I'm probably forgetting a ton, but needless to say, Lauren took everything we threw at her in stride. We didn't do things the traditional way and she just got on board. She also navigated our more challenging vendors with grace and grit. It helped immensely. Also (keep needing to add things) she talked me off a ledge the week before the wedding when I was stressing out about the heat, and offered tons of solutions. We had an incredible wedding that miraculously pleased everyone, most notably us, and we're so grateful to Laurel & Fey!

Truth be told, I did give her a hard time initially because I was paranoid of all the stories I heard about coordinators disappearing or not even showing up on the day of after receiving payment! Cindy was kind and patient enough to work with me through all my concerns that's when I knew she was the one. Which is why I am here, writing about my awesome experience working with and vouching for her. I hired Cindy to be the day of coordinator since I was able to handle majority of the wedding planning myself (although in retrospect, hiring her for partial planning would had been less stressful) Cindy had weekly calls with me a month before my wedding day to keep me on track and also gave me some homework to do (mock set ups, timeline, sending her the floor plan of the venue, etc) which ultimately helped in executing my wedding vision. Cindy did exactly what I showed her and even added her own creativity that made everything pop! Set up was flawless, tear down was fast and efficient.
