Waited 2-mo's to get our boat in, which isn't unusual. Arrived at the scheduled date in June. They hauled out our boat, then told us it would be an add'l 3-wks before they could do the work. Gave us no discount on the haul-out fee when we told them we weren't prepared to lose a month of prime boating - based on them not having revealed the delay prior to the haul-out. Also, make sure you get a firm written estimate from these guys. Prior to the haul-out, they gave us inexpensive estimates verbally, but once they had the boat out of the water, everything suddenly got complicated and expensive. End of the day, it cost us $1,000 to have our bottom pressure washed and get jerked around. Beware! read more

Overall they did a good job in some gel coat work and a bottom paint. Their team that runs the lift are very friendly and helpful. They tend to be on the expensive side from what I have seen, but I think that is mostly because they seem to haul out for all of their work. I've been boating for 45 years and this is one of the best boat yards I've used. This fall they repainted my hull, did the exterior varnish and installed a new galley countertop. The work was outstanding, communications with the yard couldn't have been better. I've also used the Bellingham Seaview yard for extensive work and the team there asked that I use the Seattle yard for some follow up work. We had a free haul out with bottom paint certificate that needed to be used before it was up and it was time for new bottom paint. Had the certificate right up until the day we were going to splash :/ Seaview took the time to look over their records to confirm certificate dates and honor it. The staff is very friendly and while busy, will go out of their way to help you. They were in a transition period of no longer accepting outside paint - i.e. you have to buy paint they sell. I found their prices to be competitive but had already purchased some paint. They agreed to use the paint we already had - I'm guessing that transition period is over so know that you will likely be purchasing paint from them. Finally, agreed to 4-hours additional bottom prep work (grinding for the bottom paint). There was some confusion and they began painting prior to prep. This required additional paint and the final hours were more than agreed upon. However, as we were living aboard at the time, I saw the amount of effort that went into the grinding and was satisfied that the job got done right, i.e. 6-8 hours vs. 4. I recently took my sailboat to Seaview Marine and worked with Tiel & Frank of Seaview Marine & Charlie Harris of Auxiliary Engine to have the Yanmar engine & Saildrive removed from the boat. Tiel &Frank performed an outstanding repair repairing the large hole in the hull from the saildrive and holes in the cockpit for the engine & saildrive controls. Since this is primarily a racing sailboat I wanted the bottom to be extremely smooth & fair where the large saildrive hole was located. Tiel, Frank & their team 100% did exactly what I expected and totally exceeded my all of my expectations. Charlie & his team 100% lived up to my expectations in removing the engine, saildrive and controls. Charlie also stored the engine & saildrive at his shop and sold them for me. No muss, no fuss. We recently brought our boat in for a power washing and saildrive paint job. We have used CSR Marine boat yard numerous times and have always liked them. But going through the locks to get to CSR is not a fun experience so we thought we would give Seaview a shot since they are easily accessed from the Puget Sound, in Shilshoal Marina. The word on the water is that Seaview is a solid boat yard. Seaview is a smaller facility but they make up for it with great customer service. Roland, who runs the yard, is everywhere. He works hard. His yard employees are knowledgeable and very nice. The lift operator is top notch. They did a great job in power washing the boat and the saildrive looks perfect. The folks in the office also very nice. It was a great experience. I highly recommend this yard. I have always noticed that boat yards always have a distinct personality, both good and bad. This yard has a very positive feel about it. Important facts - sailboats must remove the head sail if it is on a roller, we had to scramble a bit getting this done as we arrived. They should put a sign on the travel lift - Their 55 ton lift was "just" wide enough to accommodate our 14.5 foot beam, max beam is likely around 16 feet. read more

The entire crew at Seaview were great to work with. They listened to my concerns and provided great solutions. I brought my boat to another boat yard and I had an awful experience. We used Seaview Boatyard to have our dock stairs repaired. We knew they were broken, but we did not realize how bad they really were until they were fixed. Seaview did a beautiful job welding our dock stairs back together and the price was reasonable considering the amount of time it took to fix them right. I have used Seaview for the last three years. I had them do major work on my boat, bottom paint, new pumps, etc. Never had a problem. Recently, Roland who used to run the jobs left and a new man, Dennis, has taken over. A simple fix, new plumbing for my aft head, has taken over a week. Seems the technician is always busy with another project, or the p[arts order hasn't come in (after 5 days?? really??). The one technician has to have another tech come inspect his work..so I wait another hour for him to show up. Or its lunch and I'll have him get there afterwards...again waiting 2 hours until 3PM for him to show. The work I have no problem with, the scheduling needs serious improvement. Actual time on the boat was about 4-5 hours. But 7 days to get it fixed. Get a written estimate and a schedule in writing before hiring them, and ensure you put "time is of the essence" on the work order. read more

After taking in my boat to Seaview was not really happy with customer service. They removed some items I specifically wanted back and were never returned. They try to do the "Upsell" as well. They don't have time to sit and go thru things with you as well. Won't be back................. Update: Did get my antenna back...they told me 1. Oh we threw it out..2. Oh it got mangled taking out. 3. We don't have any of those type of antenna here.!!!! Low and behold he said he found a similar one..just happened to be the exact one with my bracket they kept. The job was excellent, and they were super helpful about me working on the boat while she was on the hard. This yard not only misrepresents their prices. They say they charge $24 a foot. When actuality when all said & done it was $40 a foot. Job was quoted for 27 ft boat was 3 days $648. Walked out of their paying $1865.66 & it took 10 days too do job. That was with my husband (we are liveaboards) riding the yard everyday to start boat. Boat was hauled Mon Feb 23 & completed & dropped in water on March 4th. Reason for delay. They were excessively busy. But everyday all they did was haul out boats not work on ones already in blocks waiting for service. There was no activity @ the yard all weekend. Boat wasnt started till Monday March 2nd. Exactly one week from when hauled out of water. I will not use this yard again. I prefer to get real prices & not be surprised with a bill that is double the price. Thankfully husband was able to use neighboring marinas facilities. Because again he was told one thing by yard (they had facilities he could use) & got there & it was a different than what he was told. We used this yard because of original job quote & local to work. Don't use them if you want anything done correctly. They turned a 3 week install of various new parts and electronic into an 10 week nightmare. Prior to the installed I went over the project step by step. They didn't follow any of the instructions. Parts they installed were not compatible, wiring was incorrect and job a basic mess. I made the mistake of using this boat yard 2 years in a row. First experience last year they detailed my boat and did a good job but I paid for new boat stripes and the installation of a keel guard and they put the wrong stripes on my boat and the keel guard fell off. I complained about the stripes and they wanted to keep my boat another 2 weeks to make it right. Well this was after waiting a month to pick up my boat in the first place so I said forget it as we have such a short boating season in Seattle. ($5,000 Dollars spent). This year 2016 I bring the boat back in for a detail and tune up of my Yamaha 250 and again they did not do a good job. This time the detail was horrible. Moss in the nooks and crannies of drawers and doors was left they did not clean my upholstery at all. I did when I got my boat home. I used soft scrub and It looks good. I left there and my trim tabs didn't work so I went back and the shop guys came down to look at the operation and said they work fine but the position indicator wasn't working. ( Big Lie) they didn't work at all. This after paying ( 4,800 Dollars) My Yamaha motor now leaks oil when I tilt it out of the water. They did something wrong there also. No read out of the condition of my motor or report of what they did was given to me. This Company has gone way down hill since the days my Dad took his boat here for years. I'm never ever going to go here again they acted like my complaints were a pain in there butt! BTW I'm still waiting for the free haul out certificate they said they where going to mail to me!
