The staff and owner is very helpful, friendly, and professional. I've used them for several years and always get top quality work and it's done on time. They go out of their way to help you. I was actually doing work on the boat over the weekend, and the staff there let me borrow ladders, scaffolding, etc. to make the work easier. They have a good relationship with Canal Boatyard, so it's easy to get everything taken care of in one or two easy phone calls. In an industry where high service levels are not always available, I have come to appreciate the staff here and will continue to use them in the future.

Update I have gone…read morethrough two warranty cycles with CSR now. They continue to impress me. The quality and focus are still up to scratch with my original review of this business. Further, I feel that they are very keen on building our relationship. I often email over random questions to the project manager and he is all over it. I am an extremely satisfied customer.

I was impressed with the quality of the work and the communication. They laid out a very reasonable work plan, and pointed out a couple of issues that they suggested I handle (more cheaply) myself (even supplying manufacturer part numbers). They hit their budget estimates, were very clear when communicating about a couple of problems that were discovered during the work, and were patient and willing to have me continually asking about the work, to learn more about my boat and about the maintenance work that was being done. I left the yard with all of the work done that I had wanted done, with a great bottom, and with the running gear spinning like a top. This is not the cheapest yard around (I did cringe when I saw the final bill!), but the quality of work, and personal attention, were top notch. I'm very happy to be caught up on my deferred maintenance and to be confident in my systems, and that peace of mind is worth it. Oh, and I'm now about a knot faster than before I went in. Highly recommended. I'll be back.

Finding a good mobile mechanic that will work on stern drives is difficult in this area. Most of…read morethe greats are retired as this technology is getting long in the tooth. I was very pleased to find Lakeside Boat would visit my marina and work on my motor. The scheduling was hard to get done though - I was ready to find another mechanic before we started. Once the work was on the schedule, I felt good - going to get some maintenance (tune up/oil change) and have my manifolds replaced as they were getting on 5 years (routine to change them on that interval). Josh sent me a bill for parts estimated - and I know that that will vary to some degree once the work starts. Paid it right away because I wanted to get the boat in tip top again. During the day of the service, I got a call - a part was not anticipated, and it would add $900 to the bill. Ok. At that point, I'm kind of committed so I said OK. I didn't realize I was going to pay shop labor rate for Josh to drive to Kent to pick up those parts and then drive them to Edmonds. That added $1000 to the bill for delivery and then Josh waiting around. At the end of the day, I got the call that the boat was done - and because it would not start (it had been running for me reliably until then) another part was needed. Again, at that point I'm committed. Got the final bill via the online portal - and paid it right away even though I was at that point in total sticker shock. The total price came in over $5,000. I had questions. I finally got Josh on the phone - he's disappointed, I'm disappointed - because I've had mobile work done on my boat for years and years - and never had this feeling that I got fleeced. After the phone call... I still feel like I got fleeced. I inspected the work - it looks solid. They have a good mechanic. I question the business ethic however. Still waiting for an itemized bill.

After Coastal serviced our boat this spring, we experienced an issue with our generator after we had already left the Seattle area and were docked on Lopez Island. Instead of asking us to bring the boat back, Martin went above and beyond--he flew his private plane to Lopez Island and came directly to the marina to service our boat. That level of dedication says everything about Martin and his team. He genuinely wanted to make sure we were safe and stood behind the work of his shop without hesitation. Customer service like this is incredibly rare, and it's clear that Coastal Marine truly cares about its customers. We are beyond grateful for Martin's professionalism, integrity, and commitment. Coastal Marine has earned our trust for life, and we will forever be loyal customers. Thank you, Martin, for your exceptional service and for giving us complete confidence every time we head out on the water! - Nauti by Nature
