George knows what he is doing and picks up the phone. He is prompt, and delivers what he says he will deliver. The work done was clean, neat, and efficient. I won't hesitate to have him work on my boat again! read more

This is a marine service company that (a) answers the phone, (b) provides super competitive pricing, (c) shows up when they say and (d) know WTF they are doing. I didn't think this existed in Seattle. George and BSMSC replaced my raw water toilet w a new ceramic fresh water. Install is perfect but- just as important- the entire process is frictionless and easy. Cannot recommend enough. George and his company are 6 out of 5 stars! read more

Update: George did a terrific job with my little houseboat when it went into dry dock for repair, maintenance, and a new paint job, doing both the big stuff and small repairs in a thoughtful, timely, and thorough way. He was consistently cheerful, reliable, and knowledgeable, keeping me well advised and up-to-date via text and photos. Furthermore, he came in right on time (a week) and just under his estimate -- which was significantly lower than another estimate I had gotten. Viva Boat Stuff! read more

I am a set designer and art director, and have a cadre of talented colleagues, each with many craftsmanship skills at hand. This special project required a mariner and a shipwright's knowledge. Enter George and his maritime cadre of colleagues! George put together the perfect team of specialists to hand-refurbish the ETO from the historic Seattle M.V. Hyak Ferry. It was disassembled and restored to its original lustrious condition, along with a beautiful new base stand for the Kraken. George worked with me to oversee the handling and delivery of the ETO earlier than anticipated and right on budget. It's not just 'Boat Stuff'! Thank you, George! read more

We had an ongoing 12V electrical issue on our houseboat -- the toilet stopped flushing, the shower pump was barely running, and nothing we tried seemed to fix it. After replacing the battery ourselves and still having problems, we called George and they were absolutely fantastic. They arrived on time, diagnosed the problem quickly and used it quickly. Rates were the most economical. Super professional, knowledgeable, honest, and easy to work with. If you live on a boat or houseboat and need electrical help, I highly recommend George. Total lifesaver! read more

After calling around several boatyards in the area, and getting ridiculous quotes with far-away timelines, I stumbled upon Boat Stuff. George was quick to respond with a quote, suggestions on where to haul out, and walked me through what he was planning to do. Several weeks later we did the project together - it involved bottom paint, seacock replacements, hull repairs. George was quick, very friendly, taught me a LOT about doing all that work (and he likes teaching!), and gave me an honest talk about some of the things I wanted to fix (they were not worth the cost). George also stands behind his work. I launched the boat a day later, and discovered a small leak in the thru-hull we replaced. George picked up the phone right away (it was Saturday), fixed it the next day (Sunday morning!) free of charge, and was also promptly responding to my text messages after that. Great, fast service from a professional, at very reasonable prices - hard to find these days! I will definitely work with George again. read more

George was very helpful in fixing up our small sailboat. He painted the bottom of the boat, buffed and waxed the hull, fixed some chips, and replaced some wood components on the boat with starboard. The boat looks so much better now and it feels good to have it fixed up. George also helped to create a mast support and repaired and restored our rudder and tiller handle. We are new boat owners and it helped to get a complete survey on the boat and trailer from George. He gave us advice on what needed to be fixed and referred us to other marine businesses in the area for things outside his wheelhouse. The process took longer than we originally expected and was a bit more pricy than we were thinking but I am still happy with our experience. I think in the future we'd be more specific on a budget and timelines. That being said, George was good at communicating by text and sent progress pictures and would incrementally start tasks to make sure that we were still okay with the costs. He also was great at getting good deals on materials. read more

George, Installed a brand new waste system on my houseboat (Holiday Mansion 1989). I now have a new electric toilet and waste tank that is out of my downstairs sleeping area. It works fantastic and I'm delighted every time I push that electric flush button. No more toilet smells in my sleeping area is the best of all. George was great, he was professional, punctual and explained everything. He returned my calls, showed up when he said he would and texted with updates as he worked. It was refreshing to work with someone who actually did exactly what he said and did an excellent job. Yes I would definitely hire George again. read more

A few months ago, I saw an ad for a boat that someone was giving away for free. Without thinking, I jumped on it, and sight unseen agreed to take it off their hands. A free boat! How could anyone pass an opportunity like that up? As it turns out, there's a reason why "Old Blue" was free. Surprise! But I'd like to think I'm pretty handy, and I grew up with a dad who restored old cars and believed in repairing things rather than throwing them away. I was certain that Old Blue still had some life left in her. My experience with boats is next to none, so I began calling around do different boat repair shops. Most of them were convinced that Old Blue was a lost cause, and no one was interested in giving me advice. I knew I wanted to do the work myself, but since I'm a total novice, I wanted someone to do a thorough inspection and provide recommendations on how I should proceed. Luckily, I found George. He was super pleasant and didn't condescend or treat me like a "dumb girl." I sent some initial photos so he'd have an idea of some of the problem spots, and then made an appointment to have him come out and check over the boat in person. He was very thorough, looked over everything top to bottom, described what he found, and made recommendations along the way. He told me what absolutely needed repairing, what was optional, what order to approach the realtors, and where to find the materials. He also made suggestions for how to make it more comfortable and provided ideas on how to save money. He also offered to come out again when I'm ready to take the boat out on the water to test it out. George clearly knows his stuff. I didn't have to give him the full story on the boat - he was able to piece together the details just by looking her over. Old Blue is an old, homemade boat constructed of wood and covered in fiberglass, and he recognized every detail on her build that had been conveyed to my by the original owner. I'm used to getting BS'ed by tradesmen who assume I know nothing about cars, construction, etc. (which I actually know a lot about) and George never tried to BS me. He's a trustworthy guy. If you are looking for a boat repair person, or someone to do an inspection, or just give you advice on how to do the work yourself, look no further than George! read more

George is our go-to for issues we run into with our floating house. He's response, a good communicator, clear about what needs to be done and his ability to do it. I appreciate the tips he gives us to learn to do things ourselves as well - we get to learn from the best. Can't recommend enough. read more

George did a remarkable job in repiping and reattaching a couple deck drains on my boat. One drain in particular was very difficult to reach and work on, but he figured it out. An additional caulking task was completed so well that one can barely tell where the rubber stops and the caulking begins. I appreciate George's attention to detail, knowledge and ability to problem solve. So grateful to have a such a reliable resource as Boat Stuff Marine Services. read more

George was so knowledgeable and really took the time to explain everything he was doing. He went out of his way to drive to several hardware stores to find the best deals. No one could figure out all the problems with our plumbing and George knew exactly what to do, fixing the problem in no time. He even gave me some great advice on some other problems I was having on my boat. I couldn't recommend anyone better. I will definitely be calling him again. Hes the best! read more

I had an issue with our propane stove in our 38' sailboat and after some frustrating attempts at fixing it myself, contacted George seeing his card out at Shilshole. George was super responsive and very clear about the type of work that he does. We setup a time for him to work on the boat and within an hour of arriving he had the stove up and running. It's often challenging to find folks who follow through on what they promise to do these days, and George is a pleasant exception to that! Would recommend him to anyone for jobs within his wheelhouse! read more

The head on board our 28' sailboat stopped functioning properly. George took my call, was able to correctly troubleshoot the issue over the phone and made the repair within a very short time. He was super responsive, his price was very reasonable, and he was a pleasure to work with. And best of all, he was right in his diagnosis and it now works great! I am thrilled to have him as a resource for future needs. read more

George and his team were super friendly, very knowledgeable and helped us understand what our options were, and were able to schedule the work quickly. Read the other reviews. There is a reason George / Boat Stuff has the poor reputation he does, its a well-earned reputation. Most seasoned boaters know to stay away. George has done work on several of my boats (before I knew better). From incorrect splicing of wires & cutting wires to working systems to randomly cutting large holes into compartments and refusing to patch - it has cost me several thousand dollars to repair his mistakes. One resulted in an electrical fire, I got lucky my boat didn't go up in flames. In both instances, we found leftover beer cans and we believe he may have been intoxicated. We did confront him at one point in a multi-day job and he admitted to being intoxicated on one of the days but denied that day.... Almost worse than the above he does not stand behind his work. Just about every negative review mentions giving him the opportunity to fix his mistakes, he just gets nasty at that point. If you choose to ignore mine and the previous reviews - its on you now :) read more

George has done a couple of projects for me so far, and I have been very happy with his service. He is technically skilled, knows his stuff and leaves my boat looking better than when he arrived. Efficient honest and good prices. I had to work with him while I was out of town as my electrical problem prevented my pump from working and it turned out I was going to be out of town for a while. I needed a mobile company to take a look at a boat I was considering purchasing. I spoke with George and he was able to fit me in the same week. He was very familiar with the marina, which was helpful. Once on the boat, which I planned on using as a live aboard, he jumped into action. He had owned a couple live aboard's, so his perspective was helpful. He knew a lot about the boat and what to look for. He knew a lot about the area and local businesses to partner with for towing, getting the boat out of the water, engine repair, and mooring. He was friendly, quick, and thorough, so I had all the information to make a solid decision. His rates were very reasonable and if I had purchased the boat he would have done all of the work. I would defiantly recommend George! read more

First off, thank you so much for the work you did at my houseboat and my neighbor's houseboat. The sump pump that was clogged is now cleared! AND The sewage pipe that burst is now fixed! It could have been so much worse than what it was thanks to your keen eye and direct route to fixing what was most crucial in a way that was more of an origami puzzle than something straight forward (think yoga moves under the deck to reach the tricky pipe--you are a superhero!). You rock houseboats and know exactly the most efficient way to fix them and the most cost effective. It was a pleasure watching you work and learning from you. THANK YOU MUCH!! read more

George is very knowledgeable, prompt, and extremely friendly. He is patient and will listen to all of your questions with honest feedback. His rates are also very fair compared to other mechanics around the area. A true Renaissance man. I highly recommend this guy! *Review Update 12/31/2013 Since my last review, George has come to my boat on two separate occasions. His first visit was a hater water heater replacement. Everything works perfect! On his second visit, George re-wired some outlets and lighting for my boat. Excellent job and up to marine code! read more

George rocks! No other way to express myself. It's always a "roll of the dice" when you use a marine service vendor for the first time, and especially in the summer months. Lot's of people profess to be the "best", "cheapest", "experienced", and I've seen them all over the years, and have had to throw a few of them aside as they were rubbish. This guy is different. I have a start time. George called to let me know he was on route. He had a professional customized truck, business cards, flyers, receipts...everything you expect from a real business. His hourly rate is reasonable, and his work was excellent. It took a little longer than initially planned and I was not aware that I would be paying for supplies used, but it was well worth the money spent. I'll definitely use George again as he is professional, honest, reliable and great value. Thank you George. read more
