I would be cautious when dealing with this company for a few reasons. We were looking at a used boat with them. The price was negotiated before we looked at it with the caveat that the boat was in good condition. They also signed a letter of intent on price with a new trailer vs. using one they had there. Experience when we got there to test drive was great and kid that took us out on the water was super nice. However when we pulled the boat out to look at the hull (when they said boat was in good condition), the entire outdrive was very chewed up (more than just the skeg itself). Parker who was the salesman kind of just dismissed us saying we couldn't make a deal that day (for various reasons) and went back on the letter of intent price we had in writing for both the boat (couple hundred bucks difference) and the new trailer price (couple thousand dollars difference). He said he would call the next morning and never did. Something must have happened with him going back on what he personally wrote in writing vs. what he said that day however having multiple dishonest practices is enough for me to not do business with them. read more

I dinged my prop this weekend and they got me in for their prop exchange today (which i was thankful for). They switched out my prop and thats when the real fun began! My cell phone dropped in a small slot in between the seats right when I got out past the fuel dock and went below deck (one in a million times this could have happened....). I heard a clunk and for the life of me could not find the phone. I was like, you have to be kidding me right? I came back after searching madly for my phone and showed up again... Here I am! Guess what? I dropped my cell between the seats and cannot locate it! William Sims literally climbed in to the smallest space where I store my fenders and undid a few screws. The phone was below deck in the most impossible place a phone could have landed. A half hour later, screw drivers, other tools, and lots of sweat later the phone was located. He never gave up! Another nice guy came in at the end as his arms were longer and was the one who actually retrieved the phone. I literally was ready to go to Apple and make a claim and buy a new phone. I can't say how relieved I was. That was what I call above and beyond service. Hats off to William and the other chap with the long arms. And Kenji for taking my panicked call a few days before when I realized my prop was dinged and then Greer who got me in so i could use my boat. Bravo! read more

Kept my boat here for a handful of months. Frustrating that they close at 6:30 in the evening thus no dinner cruise. Watch there billing department I left and they kept charging. Had to dispute the charges. Also their service department looked at my trim system and somehow put a leak in the boat. Of course they still launched the boat with the leak. Glad the bilge pump worked or we would have been swimming back. Bottom line I would not use their service department and the marina closes to early to really enjoy your boat. I have my boat at a slip now so I can come and go at anytime. read more

Cobalt is a wonderful boat, the service not so much. We have been to the Seattle location three times in a year and not once did we meet with a sales person. We wanted to buy but they obviously didn't want our money. They have young men, clean cut and upper class,meet you and show you the boats. Unfortunately these young men have no knowledge of the boats or inventory. The used boats are dirty and show so much wear and tear for the price, a person has to just shake their head and ask why don't they clean them up like the car lots? Once again, we walked away, drove to the Regal dealer and bought a brand new quality boat. read more

Just signed up with their FunShare program and thought I'd share my reasons for picking this of the three boating "clubs" operating in Lake Union. All three (FunShare, Carefree, and Seattle Boat Club) have reasons to pick them, and it took a fair amount of time to figure out exactly what I wanted and which would be the best match for me. So here goes! Carefree: Pros: lots of choices of boats, including ones you can take into the Sound, ones you can overnight on, pontoon boats (one with a slide), the list goes on and on. Super nice owner and employees. Well taken care of boats. Dock-hands who seem attentive and wanting to help. Plenty of parking Cons (for me): would take an inordinate amount of time to get to Lake Washington. That's all I want to do, is go swimming and water skiing in Lake Washington, so that made this a no go for me. Wouldn't let me take a copy of the agreement with me to review. Need to give advance notice (I think it was 60 days) not to continue for another year. Don't open until 10 a.m. Seattle Boat Club: Pros: lots of choices of boats. Much closer to Lake Washington than Carefree. Boating classes (I took two with a great guy named Tony). Cons: Boats appeared very worn and not particularly clean. Don't open until 10 a.m. Very tight slip to get the boats into, with no dockhands to help. Parking is expensive ($10) and, one of the days I went there, the parking was full. Seattle Boat Co/FunShare: Pros: closest to Lake Washington (takes 30 or so minutes to get through the Cut and past the floating bridge). Opens at 8 a.m. every morning! Brand new boats (new every year; that's part of their business model, to sell the used ones). Boats are spotless. Lots of very friendly and helpful staff to help undock and dock. Very responsive to (and patient with) my lots and lots of questions. Huge selection of equipment to use for free (wake boards, skis, etc). Free ice! Clean bathrooms. Cons: (not a con for me, because I just wanted a ski boat) only two types of boats, neither of which you would overnight on or take into the Sound. read more

Total fans! We love being able to send a text and an hour later, the boat's off of dry-stack storage and in the water at the dock. The folks working here are conscientious and even the ones who appear new each season are well trained and they genuinely try hard and work hard. The convenience cannot be overstated! It's on Lake Union and it is 20 minutes through the cut to Lake Washington. There's no trailering nor launching involved so if you want to take the boat out each night after work, it's slick and easy to do so. They do require a year lease, but with their monthly pricing it is competitive with the rates of other places who do offer monthly leases. We really appreciate the convenience and recommend Seattle Boat to friends. read more

Service department lacks "service". Poor communication, ignoring specific requests, missing work deadline by 7-10 days. Obscenely expensive. Mediocre work. The dry stack is operated by separate staff and is much better than the service department. We have been customers for many, many years. read more

I also have a very mixed relationship... I had my boat stored at their Lake Union dry stack for 3 years, and each year it cost me time and money to repair problems as a result of Seattle Boat. The first year I did the witerization myself and had absoltuely no problems. The second year I decided to pay them to winterize, and they did not properly drain the water out of the closed seawater cooling system. Needless to say, the water frooze in the sea valve, cracking it. They also re-commissioned the boat in the spring and did not even notice the cracked valve. When I put the boat in the water and opened the valvbe, it immediately started leaking. Rather then taking responsibility for the problem, I had to run to Fisheries Supply and buy a new valve, although the Seattle Boat mechanic did install it. No reimbursement for the $50+ for the valve. The second year they also winterized the boat, and this time they apparently did not put antifreeze in the holding tank and it frooze, cracking the tank. Again no acceptance of responsibility, and I had to order a new holding tank and have it installed at CSR Marine since Seattle Boat does not do work on holding tanks. This time $500 out of my own pocket. And to top it off, my boat has a nav light on top of the tower. The marina bull drivers broke that light 3 times over the 3 years - the first time the drive paid me for the light I obtained from Olympic Boat Center so I would not report it to their management. The second time I reported it to the office but they never replaced it so I had to buy a new one myself (for around $30). The last time they broke it and "promised" to reimburse me for the part ($50), but that never happened. Every time I did their so-called "text and your boat wil lbe ready when you arrive" was more like "text and come down and wait 30-45 minutes and we will get your boat in eventually". Many times I sent a text several hours ahead of time, the boat was not in the water, and "walk ups" got preferential treatment. I had never had my boat ready when I arrived. And when you return to the dry stack, especially on a busy day, you have to wait for your spot at the dock. Many times other rude drunk boaters do not wait their turn and cut ahead of you. I would not recommend a dry stack to a serious boater, unless you want a frustrating experience. I also did not like being held captive to their service department, and I was even told I could not have anyone come in to clean or detail the boat (although others seem to wash and detail thei boat at the site - guee it depends who you are). I would not recommend Seattle Boat due to their lack of taking responsibility for damages they cause, and lack of reimbursement for repairs of damage they caused. I also agree with the comments about "doing services that are not necessary". The first year I owned the boat (purchased new), the recommended a full drive train service atthe end of the season, on a boat with about 25 hours (the manufacturer recommended this service at 100 hours). I will be upgrading to a larger boat in the future, and from my experience with Seattle Boat, they will not be on the list of companies where I will do my shopping. By the way, my boat is no longer at the dry stack - I moved it to an in-water marina on Lake Union. read more

The ultimate scam job. I dropped off my boat to have the engine oil and outdrive fluids changed. First, they told me they had to remove the outdrives to replace the oil. Seems rather odd. Then they said that they do not have the proper shims and had to order then. Then a week later, they said they ordered the wrong shims and would have to order them again. They kept the boat for over a month in the middle of the summer on obvious and insulting lie after lie. And wouldn't you know it, one of the outdrives blew up a week later. It was perfectly fine when I dropped it off before they broke it. It is difficulty to imagine the outdrive failure was not their fault. read more

Complete rip off. I have a cobalt boat that was under contract with a potential buyer that was contingent the boat passing an inspection. The buyer chose Seattle Boat to perform the inspection. Seattle boat informed the buyer that the boat needed over $4,000 worth of work to the outdrive as water got in and the u joint was full of rust. Based on this information, the buyer wanted for me to pay this repair to close the sale. I did not trust the information I was given from Seattle boat and asked them to not do any work and put the drive back in. The sale was then stopped. I took the boat to my regular mechanic to have it inspected. My mechanic pulled the drive and said there were no signs of any damage and is in near new condition. I understand that they are hurting for new boat sales. Looks like they are making up for it on fraudulent service. read more

The service department at Northlake branch of Seattle Boat Company is as good as it gets. These guys totally rock and go above and beyond. They immediately diagnosed a faulty flex plate that another repair shop failed to see, which (a) saved me thousands vs what the other shop wanted to fix, and (b) probably prevented a nasty engine failure on the lake. Then a few weeks ago, the shaft broke. They towed my boat in on 1 day's notice, then had a new shaft fabricated locally and installed, all in three days, so we had the boat back for out-of-town visitors! They are highly competent technically, are responsive, and work so hard to get you what you need, when you need it. At this point I wouldn't even think about taking my boat somewhere else. In a world so full of poor service, Seattle Boat at Northlake are a beacon of amazing service! read more

Jeff J's "complete rip off" comment is completely unjustified, from my perspective. I was the potential buyer Jeff is referring to. I had Seattle Boat open and inspect the outdrive of Jeff's boat only after Jeff's broker couldn't produce any service records more recent than two years ago -- after Jeff had stated in his sales ad that the boat had been serviced every spring and summer. Seattle Boat told me they found water in the bellows, and they recommended replacement of the u-joint and gimble bearing. They later showed me the drive, and the u-joint was binding and the drive fluid was dark black. (Seattle Boat never said anything to me about rust.) From my perspective, Seattle Boat handled this correctly and well. read more

In the past couple of years we also started storing our boat with them in the winter. We used to deal with the Seattle location and when they opened up their Newport Shores location we switched to going there as it's more convenient for us. In 10 plus years of dealing with the staff at both locations we have never had a bad experience. Everyone is courteous, friendly and professional. The guys in the service department always take the time to explain to me what's needed and why they're recommending something and why it's important. Last time I picked up the boat after they recommissoned it they had filled it with gas for me (they checked first to make sure I was ok with that) - now that's cutsomer service!
