This review is for the corporate office/kitchen here in Ottawa, which is where my food is delivered from, where I then receive it through a local "SSHE" store near my home in Orland Pk., IL. We then pick it up at our local store. My husband and I have been on and off the food since the late 1990's. Whenever we need to try and keep our weight in line or if medically, we need to get in gear, for me it is my blood pressure numbers, for my husband it is his cholesterol numbers. We love most all of the dishes, but like most people, we dislike certain things. For me it may be brussel sprouts, for my husband it is vinegar cucumber salad. But we do eat what we don't prefer bc we know it is good for us and those items are not on the food plan every day. We do find the food expensive but that is bc as a customer you don't have to do anything except buy your skim milk elsewhere. We do get the optimal price breaks by prepaying for our food for 5 week's food in advance and we pay with a personal check, so we save a bit more by not using our credit card......our local store distributor, instead of them paying Visa fees for our credit card purchase, the distributor takes those fees off our bill and we then pay her with a personal check. But even with all that, it is expensive and you just have to decide what it is worth to "you". For us, medically speaking, when we are on "SSHE", we are usually not at the doctor's office......so we save money there! I do feel the local stores are disappearing tho, which then forces you into buying the food online or by phone from the corporate office/kitchen in Ottawa, IL. It is much more expensive that way. There are no discounts for buying it for 5 weeks of food prepaid and no discounts for the form of payment as you can only use a credit card. And the delivery charges vary greatly depending on where you live in the country. If we ever have to go that route we will probably have to stop purchasing. I wish the local stores would come back but I think that is fast becoming "SSHE's" history, and not its future. So we are enjoying it while we can. read more
