No crazy upsell thrown at me. But i ended up adding to just 1 spray tan ( post moisturizer) just based on her genuine ability to answer my questions. No attitude, just friendly and knowledgeable. Super refreshing considering i cant remember getting that in previous tanning salons. She checked in with me after too. Legit customer service pro. Danica - you rock. After my poor experience I was happy with the response from the customer care team. They have spoken with district manager and discussing with the team. They also don't have a policy about last call- more that they take tanners while they're open. So shouldn't have been turned away even if I didn't realize they closed that early I would have gotten there sooner. read more

I am still fuming from the way that I was treated. Worst customer experience, I can recall . The first girl was sweet that waited on me . She was a newbie and was trying, but talked so fast I could not u understand her. She also tried to pretend they didn't have a pair of goggles to loan so she could up charge me. The other girl was a haughty, nasty piece of work and needs to be fired. I'll elaborate more in detail and edit this after I have cooled down.. I have always loved this location!! Worked here myself many years ago. The girls have always been so sweet and accommodating, I even bring in Xmas gifts and valentines cards for them because it feels like they care. Recently I have had issues with one particular staff member who I believe is new. Twice a week I get spray tans close to closing (9pm) after the gym. Since she started working I have come in to find she has broken down the machine early (I feel like this should be the last thing done after closing since there is just one spray tan booth). I have never had this issue before... so I started going back to the highlands location. This past Friday 2/16 I went to the highlands location and arrived at 8:40 for a spray tan. The employee was SOOO sweet and said it would be a short wait since two other girls were before me. Turns out both machine has broken down so she told us to head down to the Gilman location, let whoever was working know about the situation, and we could get our tans. I dove there, as well as the other two girls, only to have the girl working tell us she shut down the machine early. This was frustrating because I had an event the next day that this spray tan was for (I believe other girls did too). Then the girl working had issues with knowing how to properly add free tans on our accounts for the inconvenience. I hope this problem gets sorted because I used to love this place. read more

She was very concerned to hear about my experience and seemed to be taking immediate measures. I was issued another tan to try again or visit another location which I accepted. I have been going to SST Issaquah for 3-4 years to get sun-less spray tans. More recently I signed up for the red-light, infrared service. Throughout the years the service has been inconsistent, sometimes great and sometimes mediocre. The turnover has also been substantial. However, recently the service has been superb. HANNA is amazing. She not only remember my name, but took the time to update me on the new equipment and services. The place is immaculate and the new beds are state-of the art. Customer service department is horrible! I canceled my service a year ago and they kept charging my account for an additional three months. I have tried to work with them and they refuse. It will cost me over a hundred dollars to start up my account and they will not admit fault. This location was disappointing. I decided to give Seattle Sun Tan a try with their 7 day trial membership. I visited two other locations before this one and was pleased with their friendly staff and good customer service. I detoured to this location on my way to the airport because I had plenty of time and it was the last day of my trial. The 2 girls at the desk spent several minutes looking for my account and then stared at the computer screen looking puzzled before telling me that it would be a 20 minute wait. I explained that I was heading to the airport and asked if there was another bed that I could try with a shorter wait (I imagined they would offer an upgraded bed for a reasonable price) One of the girls told me that I could purchase a $50 package and go right away, or I could wait 20 minutes. The trial memberships are only good for the cheap beds-I get it. But telling me that my only 2 options are to buy a $50 package or move along, does not motivate me to fork over my money. The way she went about it was rude. Poor customer service. No thanks, I'd buy a tanning package anywhere else solely off principle. read more

Tanning salons are daunting. One reason being you want to be tan, but you don't want to get skin cancer. And another being if you aren't naturally tan or go tanning all the time, most likely all the employees at a tanning salon are tanner (is that a word?) than you. So, here I find myself wanting to get some color and taking my chances on skin cancer before some special occasions. I debate for a while whether to get a 'membership' where money comes out of your checking account monthly or do a 'package'. I opt for a $50ish package, which I will plan to use within the next couple of weeks to prep for special occasions. I get into my first tanning session only to find a coupon/deal so strategically placed on the pillow for $20ish for unlimited tanning for 2 weeks. Great, thanks for that, but I just bought a package for more than twice that amount and equivalent in tanning credits, but maybe I'll use it next time? I continue to go steadily for the next few days, building some color. The first advice from tanning salon girl #1 is that I start with the most intense bed, and work my way down to less intense beds. --Except you can't go the full time in the most intense bed. -- OK, whatever, I go with it. Advice from tanning salon girl #2 on a separate occasion is that I shouldn't go to the lower level bed after staying steady in the highest level bed because the lower level bed is actually stronger. Wait, whaaa? If she were able to explain to me in a way that actually convinced me, I would've believed it, but that didn't make any sense to me at all. And the fact that it was contradicting fellow tanning salon girl #1 was more disappointing. Now let's talk about the size and safety issues of the rooms. One of the rooms doors doesn't lock- and they know it. "It's OK, that one doesn't lock all the way, you can just slide it closed but it won't lock". So when the door does close (but fail to lock) you literally don't have any room to undress, walk two steps in ANY direction, and are crammed up against the bed. I don't even think there is a chair in there? THAT'S how small it is. Another room- with the spray tan, is super dark (the room lighting, not the tan). The girl even said "agh, the lighting is so terrible in this room, I don't know why we don't have more." Like, I could barely see where I was walking. Overall, 2 stars- and that's just for my tan. read more

I've been going to this salon for the past 12 years before it was called "Seattle Sun Tan". I recently received a free promo for a full week to try Ultraviolet Red for skin care. The Staff and Managers at this location have been by far, the best I've seen in a long, long, time with this company. I've had bad experiences at the Renton and Redmond locations in the past. This team, goes out of their way to not just help you, but help you get the most for your money. I really appreciate all that they have done for me and my husband who was told from doctors to go and get some sun rays. He needs the ultra light due to recent depression living in the NW. I just went in here again after not going for sometime. Apparently in that absence my credit card on file had expired. I never received a call, email or snail mail notice about this. I love Seattle sun tan by all means and I have been to many locations but this one by far is the worst. I went in today because I was in the area and the room I was in was extremely tiny there was no place to put your things and the sides of the bed were very dusty like nothing had been cleaned in a while. I spray tanned also and the versa pro is awesome but again no where to really sit down or put your stuff and they did not provide nose protection although they had a poster up highly suggesting using all forms of protection including that. Ugh. I go to the Bellevue one two times a week and the girls are like family, I love them. But when they closed temporarily for construction I had to come here and was so disappointed. Talk about rude customer service...wow! I was the only one in the salon and the girl seemed so frustrated that I was there. I always do two passes of the Versa Spa and this girl told me that she wouldn't let me do two spray tans because she personally considers it to be a waste of the product. I came over from Spokane WA expecting that I had a mobile spray tan person coming to my hotel room (we have a flight to Hawaii at 6:00am tomorrow morning) and she cancelled last second! So I am left at 8:00pm on a Friday night pasty pale white and start calling salons - they all tell me they don't have someone available that can do a spray, they are closing, or they just seem irritated but I am desperate so I keep calling! I have used this salon on and off over the years of living in Issaquah. The products for the spray tan don't hold up to the claims by the girls behind the counter. Problems with the spray tan have been ongoing. I've had a couple good tans over the years yet each time I try and give it a second shot, it fails again in good color. And yes, I follow the advised process for a good lasting spray tan. Almost every time I've been in I've been told completely different things about the products ( spray tan and amplifiers ) and also with regard to the process of how the tan works / and what's in the spray tan formula. I started considering this was a problem with the training of the the staff, so I did my own research on the products they use to find that even what the were telling me wasn't accurate. The mixture of the spray tan they use in their store, the girls are clueless as to what they're really selling... leaving me to finally understand why the tans or products don't work as they say the do. To top it all of, when I've had bad luck with the spray tan I've called for help or gone in... first to find no one really cares to answer the phone as they're too busy talking to their friends and laughing up a storm rather than answering the phone. Gong in for help, don't count on that either... there was only one time I was meant by one employee that was respectful and beyond helpful. She was great, that was last year though... each year I've been in ( mainly summer ) I find that they have new young staff that seem more focused on being snobby to customers. I literally watched one staff laughing and putting down one of the girls that walked out right before I went in to tan. This certainly didn't make me feel as if I would be respected any more, knowing they'd most likely do the same to me as I walk out of their store. So, I'm finally writing this because I've experienced this with both the Klahanie and Gilman location and to be quite honest, I'm thinking that they young staff are very uneducated in their own product and couldn't care less as to the result you get as long as you don't interfere with their phone calls or friend time. I've begun to think it must be the owners kids who are running the place or part time college staff as they're always young disrespectful and outlandishly snobby girls. Unbelievable, even from the managers. Best bet, is to drive to Bellevue and use their tanning services in a different salon all together, at least you can pay for services you get along with being treated kindly. read more
