Worked with them to replace panes in our stained glass door after my dog broke it. They did not replace it with original style of glass. It feels like they replaced the glass with whatever they had on hand. Before they installed it, my husband tried to stop by the shop to look at the repair but it wasn't open. I didn't even realize the glass didn't match the original until after install. We spend over $3200 for them to replace the glass with whatever they had and not the glass that matched the original. read more

You will be taking on a significant risk to your timeless antiques if you choose to work with Seattle Stained Glass (SSG). I'd much rather be here to review the quality of their service, but unfortunately we have to talk about what it means to run a business. Running a business means communicating well, understanding the customer, staying true to your word, and accurate bookkeeping. Sundo, their bookkeeper, loses invoices, mixes up terminology, and makes up fees along the way. The original cost our project to restore 5 stained glass panels was quoted at $2,960 for which we paid a deposit of $1,480. Because SSG was poor at communicating, they later realized it would be $8,666. I asked for evidence of these costs being discussed and agreed upon prior to starting the project. Out of respect for the craft and cost of labor, I brought them a check for $8,666, less the deposit, yet they still wanted more. When it was time to pick up our stained glass, they refused to honor our deposit and they tacked on a monthly storage fee without any coordination with us. Amidst this dispute, they cashed our check anyway. SSG had also agreed at the start to install the glass into our windows, but based on our experience up to this point, we would be happy just receiving the materials and moving on. I went to their studio to pick up the glass to find that the storefront had been entirely boarded up. I called to find that they had moved locations to a residential address in north Seattle. I followed up via email again to determine when and where I can pick up the materials, and this is when Sundo began toying with me. She feigned ignorance over who I was, denied any knowledge of our project, and said she'd email me. Over a phone call she could not answer these simple questions and she ultimately hung up on me and blocked my number. Sundo is a dishonorable and disreputable professional that may ultimately sink this company due to her poor bookkeeping and communication skills. I've seen comments here on Yelp that SSG has chosen to name and shame their own customers who leave negative reviews. Lucky for all of us customers, I keep receipts. It is a shameful and disappointing thing for SSG to punish their own customers and violate their privacy because they can't run their business well. I take no pleasure in sharing my experience with others on Yelp. Artisans working with stained glass are so rare that Sundo and Seattle Stained Glass are threats to keeping the craft alive in this area. To further dissuade anyone from engaging in a project with SSG, I won't even share photos of the finished product; it's imperative that you lead your assessment of SSG based on how they conduct business. The best advice I can give to prospective customers is to seek out alternative studios in the Seattle area if you have a project with stained glass. read more

When my dog accidentally broke a pane in our antique leaded glass windows, I did not know where to turn. No handy person I called had a clue of how to fix it. Renewal by Andersen has been sniffing around our neighborhood for YEARS trying to get me to get rid of my gorgeous old windows - I was worried this event might actually force me to get an entirely new window. Then, I found Seattle Stained Glass. Yes, it was pricey (about 540 after tax)- but there aren't many craftspeople that do this kind of work left! They gave me a quote on Monday and came over and fixed it on Friday. It took them less than an hour. Good as new! I am elated. Thank you, Seattle Stained Glass! read more

We have done business with this company for 30 years. They have always been our "go to " for window repairs. This summer a small window in our garage (17x15 inches ) broke. Of course, I call Seattle Stained Glass. I sent photos as requested and explained it is not tempered glass and that it does have lead taping as a decoration. The estimate to repair was $350. I thought this extremely high but agreed. By and by a very nice and competent man came to confirm my measurements and later to install. He was thorough and courteous and skilled. Sadly when I received the bill, it nearly double the estimate. I went to the shop shop to discuss and was pressured to pay, but assured I would be contacted to discuss. A month passed. I returned. Waited over 30 minutes even thought the owner was fully aware why I was there. She had paper work I did not have and told me to take a picture so I would understand. I explained I could not do that. She said she could not make copies and would email paper work. Six days later I receive a call "inviting" me to come to salon to discuss. I return call next morning and am told I cannot come at the time I suggest. She will call me back and tell me what time works. That's it!!! I have turned this over to my credit card disputes department and have found a new glass company that seems well equipped to handle our needs. read more

I CAN'T BELIEVE THESE MORONS KEEP POSTING SOME CUSTOMER'S PHONE NUMBER IN RESPONSE TO MY REVIEW. I AM NOT EMILY&ZEPHYR These people are absolutely positively the worst. I had to delete my previous review because they responded, publicly, with another customers phone number. Outrageous! Here's the review I guess they did not like my first review, which is funny because it reflected everything else everybody has said. So how is this... They are amazing at not answering the phone, not fixing the work that you gave them, not taking responsibility when they actually break items of yours you can prove to them, with several emails, that they admitted breaking your item but they still refuse to take responsibility. And when you say you will end up bringing them to small claims court they laugh at you and hang up the phone. Counting down the days until this business gets shut down for fraud ETA AND now the owner is posting someone's phone number as a response, and sending me messages with the same info. WTAF read more

Horrible Customer Service. Avoid this place! They used to be good but under new management. Beware!

Under new management and not sure what they are doing. I tried to make a simple purchase of glass and had to work really hard to get them to even sell me some to the extent of telling them how to measure it, how to add sales tax. One very unhappy customer was complaining about a huge bill for a simple glass installation while I waited for an hour to buy a little glass. Not sure what's going on but hope they can get their act together as they have been the best place to get glass in the Seattle area until recently. read more

I would have given negative stars if I could! Stay away from this business, as long as the management is the same! *** Turns out they share the customer phone numbers and contact information publicly on here, so watch out for that as well! The initial conversation with the company was good. I called them, told them my leaded window is broken by a ladder fall; asked how quickly they can repair it and how much, added the fact that my house is getting painted. They gave me a date and a $ amount. Later they came to remove the broken window. During the removal, they remove the skinny trim pieces holding the window and tossed them with the garbage from the painting job. While doing this, they did not tell me or anyone what those pieces were, whether they were garbage or needed. I somehow kept them. Later we set an appointment to a date to install. On the day of, they came exactly the 1 hour time-window I told them not to, insisted on installing the window: they called me, texted me, kept ringing my door. During the installation, even though I told them to be careful with the paint job many many times, they did not care; splashed white caulk all over the black trim and belly pieces and damaged the black trim right above the window with leaning the ladder without a proper protective cover. I asked them to fix the white caulk splashes during the installation many times, but they did not listen to me. When they were done, we saw the clear damage on the black window trim caused by leaning the ladder. Later told me to resolve it with the office. I emailed the office people, only to get the offer of them doing the re-painting job. They did not accept neither covering the damages or hiring a professional to fix the damages they caused. Through the emails, the owner told me that I should have warned his technicians, which I had (have videos of this), and that I should have told them that the house was being painted which again I had and the technicians knew as they removed the broken window as the house was getting painted. Later, the owner told me that we cannot come to an agreement. In the last message, they said they are NOT fixing the damage, that I should have stopped their technicians when they are damaging my house (while I had told them to be careful many times) and they will take me to the court if I am not paying the full amount. So there is threatening too... Their customer service and satisfaction is absolutely zero. Unfortunately, I am not surprised reading the other customer reviews. It is such a shame that this store was a good stained glass shop and I had a lot of other projects to complete with them. Absolutely not doing that now. Do not do business with these people, there are bunch of other leaded & stained glass shops in the city; go to them. That is what I am doing for my other projects! *** There is a reply to my review in Google. That is not what they written to me, it is a highly modified version of the conversation. Google does not let you respond to a response. Hence, I edited my review there, and editing here as well. I only opposed them sharing my email, home address publicly online, my home pictures, my phone number and where I work publicly. In my case, they even stalked where I worked and sent me an email saying their sons are also working there to get me take down my review. They have been harassing me for close to a month to take down my review. read more

Wonderful glass store with great array of supplies. This is primarily a shop for artists supplies, people looking to learn or clients seeking professional stained glass for their home. As a hobbyists, the selection is incredible. They have a wide range of Spectrum glass in a variety of texture and colors. They are also willing to special order glass. Nice selection of drill bits, solder, and tools. They have a huge assortment of bins in the front to choose smaller portions of glass for mosaics and pieces in larger projects. Great prices on these pieces too. The regular glass is also priced quite well for quality glass. They offer an array of classes for beginners. Copper foil, lead foil, and the new fusing method. No advanced classes yet but the staff is more than willing to help with any project and teach you tricks. Excellent examples of professional work on their website too. read more

Sent in a request for estimate on repairing an old stained glass window with a couple of cracks in it and they couldn't bother to ever respond to me. Way to run a business! I'll go elsewhere. **************** I admit, when I wrote this initial review, I was pretty irritated. I'd attempted 3 different places to get windows I'd acquired from the demolition of an old hospital fixed and none could bother to get back to me. Seattle Stained Glass did get back to me, apologized for missing my emails, and I managed to get my windows to them after the holiday madness had settled down. The estimate I received was fair, and when I returned to pick them up was delighted to find out they were a cheaper fix than they thought! The work done is superb! Now my windows are hanging in my front window and I just love them. Thank you so much, guys. read more

I stopped by to pick up some glass grit, as I try to support local businesses. 42 minutes is how long I waited to get any acknowledgement. I finally got her attention by flapping my arms... when she finally made eye contact, I was actually relieved she could see me. She was helping a customer, and I totally get that. But she never once acknowledged that I was there or waiting or if I had a simple question. Nothing. I was invisible to her. When I finally gave up (flapping arms) she blasted me about how I would get the same level of attention (hilariously, she snapped it at me). I'm not saying she should drop everything and help me, but if he's been in there for an hour and you have other customers waiting and getting frustrated and leaving because they're being ignored, you should.. A. Acknowledge them "hi, I'll be with you soon" or the " I'll be with you, soon" or EVEN SOME EYE CONTACT AND A SMILE B. If you've been that long with an indecisive customer, excuse yourself for a moment and make sure the people waiting don't need something super simple like a jar of frit, that could be dealt with in less than two minutes. C. Golden rule of retail. Greet all customers when they walk in the door or you see them waiting. Instead I got yelled at. Thanks lady, you made a very crappy day worse and you just lost a bunch of business. Bottom line- The customer service is atrocious, the prices are so marked up, they're nearly double anywhere else. I contacted Seattle Stained Glass about making a small, insulated window for my bathroom. It's been years, since I had a similar one made, by another business which closed. I wasn't even sure it could still be done. I told Aaron my project was in the planning stage for later in the Summer, but he still cheerfully volunteered to take down my information. I asked if I could see a picture of a finished window and within hours he sent me just what I needed to see! He optimistically said he hoped to hear from me when I got closer to starting my project and would look forward to working with me. Many customer service people would have blown me off, when I told them my plan was in the future and certainly not bother to do any research for me. I call this great customer service! There were some negative reviews, but I'm not sure who some of the other folks spoke with or met, but their experience was far different from mine. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS !! We brought a stained glass window to be framed about 6 months ago. When my husband called to inquire about status, he was told that there were cracks in the glass. WHEN WE DELIVERED THE PIECE, THERE WERE ABSOLUTELY NO CRACKS. When he asked to speak with the manager, they said that he was gone but would call him back. He never called back and my husband followed up repeatedly. In the meantime, they have been sold and the new owners won't take any responsibility for fixing any of it. They don't call us back, they don't follow up and basically, they don't care about their customers. This piece of stained glass was created by my mom, who passed away 3 years ago. So, we have a 102 year old house with 35 windows, and two tween boys who wreaked their toddler havoc under our roof. As you might imagine, in our 14 years living in this house, a fair number of windows have been cracked and/or broken. We finally decided to bite the bullet, fingers crossed that our kids are well past the "Oops, I broke another window pane, mom," phase, and hired this company to replace six panes in our house. Yes, it was an investment, but you know what we got: gorgeous, wavy glass windows that perfectly match our old school windows. The team that came out were here for the better part of the day, did a perfect install, and left our home spotlessly clean, with no bits and pieces of old glazing or glass from the repair. I never knew that windows could spark joy, but damn, this feels like the ultimate Marie Kondo act of keeping only the things you love and throwing out the old--cuz nothing feels more joyous to me today than peering out of my new wavy glass windows instead of windows held together with yellowing packing tape. Thanks, Seattle Stained Glass. You won't regret hiring these guys. read more

As first-time homebuyers who know nothing about the original leaded windows we have in our house, we put off fixing one of the panes we broke when moving in because we thought it would be expensive, take a long time, and hard to find someone to fix. Those concerns were alleviated when we called Seattle Stained Glass. They have many 5 start/A rating reviews on Angie's List so we were confident in hiring them. It was very inexpensive to fix our small pane of glass that had broken. Scheduling was a breeze - they were out a few days later, and it took a short time (an hour or so)? to fix. No big deal at all. They also had recommendations for window replacements, should we ever choose to do so. For many of the older Craftsman-style homes in Seattle, Seattle Stained Glass is an excellent resource for all your window needs! read more

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! Wednesday, August 4th I contacted Seattle Stained Glass and spoke to "Delia" about the repair/reconstruction of a leaded glass window for my front door. I sent photos and a description of the work I wanted done via email, and Delia said she would send me an email quote for both the repair and reconstruction by the end of the day. No quote arrived, so the next day I contacted Seattle Stained Glass, spoke to someone different since Delia was not available, and asked that Delia call me. No call was returned, so I called and spoke to Delia at the end of the day. When speaking with her, she seemed very confused and didn't seem to have any memory of our previous conversation, but then--after shuffling papers while I waited on the phone--she was able to come up with some paperwork that indicated a cost of about $1800 + tax for a reconstruction. I then asked Delia to send me an email confirming that cost, but no email ever arrived. I made an appointment with Delia to come to the store on Monday at 2:00pm to discuss the selection of glass and pattern for the window. Since I live about an hour and a half drive from the store, I decided to call to confirm our appointment before I left home. When I called, Delia answered, and when I asked if our appointment was still "on", she became completely bewildered and had no recollection of the appointment. After waiting on the phone for at least 10 minutes--and listening to Delia shuffle papers in the background--she asked when I could come by. I said at 2:00pm--as per my appointment. I made the hour and a half drive, and arrived at the store at 2:00pm only to be told by Delia that a "mistake" had been made and that the cost would be over $2200 + tax--a difference of over $400. When asked why this "mistake" was not caught earlier and why I never received an email indicating the initial or revised cost, Delia's response was "My computer was down." I don't believe any "mistake" was ever made--the photos and description I sent of the work I wanted done were clear and concise. This was a clear case of "bait and switch"--which other stained glass companies have indicated is common practice for Seattle Stained Glass--i.e. the quoted price is never honored and the price goes up as work progresses. I asked if the quoted price would be honored and was told "no". Bottom line: Seattle Stained Glass has terrible customer service, doesn't follow through on what they say they will do, and won't honor their quotes. Fortunately, I'm not out any $$$--just 3 hours of driving time. read more

Fantastic experience. I had a window in our bathroom door that was not opaque enough and Blake recommended we just sandblast the window. Google other places in the Seattle area and don't waste your time, money or energy here. Unfortunately I had a bad experience with Seattle Stained Glass. About 6 weeks ago my husband and I were verbally quoted $17 (plus supplies, which we were told "would not be much") for the work we were having done on our small stained glass lamp. When he came to get it- he learned that in fact it was $70 an hour. My husband and I both heard $17. If we would have known that it was $70, we would not have had the work done as it wasn't urgent/pressing. A woman who was there the day he came in to pick up the lamp told him that the price quote for labor is also up on their website but I can't seem to find where it's posted (though it's possible I'm looking in the wrong spot. Remembering that it's easy to tell when something is added to a website date-wise.) And is it listed in plain sight in the shop? We didn't see that. Why isn't an estimated work order produced when someone brings in their work? I find it really annoying that in fact we should have asked to have something in writing when they are the 'professional' business. I understand now that $70 is what they charge for this and besides the fact if that's the price; that is NOT what either one of us heard. We even said out-loud to the guy during the original meeting, "Wow, yes we'll get the work down for $17 an hour." I wrote the manager and explained the situation and asked to get compensated for the difference as I think that's the ethical thing for a business to do. He was very good about getting back to me, though his tone was snarky. He failed to acknowledge the fact that we were not presented with any work order in writing. He also gave me a sob story about why they charge what they charge (which again is not the point.) He was also helpful in that he offered to set up a payment plan for us, but again missed the point. Mainly he put the situation back on me, "I'm sorry you misunderstood." He absolutely did not listen to my needs. I wrote back thanking him but saying that they should put the price up on the site and make a note in the store so that this doesn't happen to anyone else. BUT I never heard back from him. It's a bummer that there aren't many other stained glass places in the Seattle area. If there were, they might think twice about treating people this way. The work that was done was fine. But it the administrative end was handled poorly. And the response from the manager was completely unacceptable. read more

Absolutely do NOT trust this place if you're on a schedule! I called earlier in the week about bringing three windows in to have the glass replaced and they said to bring them in on Friday. Friday morning, I removed the three windows from the window frame -- which wasn't easy as they are old windows -- and I took them into the shop. The receptionist went in the back and some guy came out and told me they couldn't do it. I tried to plead my case but he coldly turned me down. They said they might be able to get it done next week if I leave the windows. Meanwhile, I have three open window frames. This is a very poorly run business! read more

I have been a long time 20+ year customer of Seattle Stained Glass. Each and every time I go in there I have felt like they treat me as if they are doing me a favor. I am a spec builder in Seattle and have appreciated the varieties they offer in glass but it has finally come the times that I say goodbye to them. They act as if we should be indebted to them as a company. But I know that I serve my clients no matter what and with respect. I went in today and asked them to help me work through a little scenario I had with some glass globes. The woman at the desk always acts as if I'm putting her out. She looked at me and said no way can we do anything for you. A flat out no. Not, "I'm sorry let me look at it and let me give you some suggestions", a flat out no. And then after I said "Really!!! Nothing!!" she said I guess we could try but I'd charge you $100 just to try. It's not even about the money for me it's solely the attitude. I surely hope she is an owner of the business because if I was an owner I would never want her as an employee. I've met with her on multiple occasions she always acts as if she's never seen me before. And always act unenthusiastic to have me walk in the door. I have never ever in my life written a review about a company but I feel the business should take a look at their staff. Our construction project was at risk of being delayed for almost three months when The team at Seattle Stained Glass, in spite of being inundated with other work orders, stepped up and put a rush on the lead application for our new windows.
