Amazing local company to work with all the way from the initial email to the installation…read more I initially sent an email asking about awnings and got a very quick response. When I told them we're interested, Hugo came over, looked at our space, and explained all the different options we have including umbrellas, awnings, etc. He quickly gave us a quote as well, which was lower than some other options even though the solution he designed looked very promising. I also could not believe it when I got a call from them in just 1 month after we ordered, letting us know that they got the parts and are ready to install. The installation went very smoothly as well and we now have a remote-controlled retractable awning that even auto-retracts when it's windy outside!

In closing it is our pleasure to recommend Awnings by Design NW to anyone who wishes to have a shade and wind break for their outdoor living space. We are very pleased with the final product and look forward to many years of fun times in our pavilion. Bobbie & Denny Clawson

We've been really impressed by this process. The construction crews are highly professional. They are thoughtful and careful with neighbors when dealing with moving equipment in and out, noise, and those kinds of things. They are great communicators and set really good expectations about project length and other details. When we asked for tweaks or changes midstream there was never any grousing or grumbling - they were very focused on making sure we were 100% happy. The guys are our crew were Colin, Max and Michael, and Patrick was the Construction Manager. In both cases, the finished projects were even more stunning than we expected. Top notch.

Not only were we thrilled with incredible quality of the results, but all aspects of the construction were super professional. The crews worked super hard, were always on time, always showed up, always finished earlier than estimated. Communication was excellent! Huge thank you to Bryan (design), Devin (build), and Johnny (project management), and Justin (warranty crew) and everyone else involved with our project. Seriously after dealing with them its hard to go back to working with other contractors.

We couldn't be more thrilled with the results!…read more The first contractor we contacted actually referred us to Timberline due to the size and complexity of the job. I had some rough drawings I had made using free 3D drawing software (look at the photos to compare the concept drawings to the final result). I showed them my ideas in December, we discussed materials, components, and pricing throughout January, and signed a contract in late January. They prepared architectural drawings in February and the engineering in March. By April we were in Permitting with the city and broke ground in late May. They knew we were planning a big party for Mid August so they worked feverishly to get it all done in time. Tony was our project manager and was great with communication. Lucas was our construction lead and Matt his assistant, and they both were great to have on the job, and they kept us updated daily with what they were working on and what was coming next. I was also impressed with their choice of contractors for the gas, electric, masonry, and painting, all did high quality work and were very professional, courteous, and respectful of our home and our neighbors. Throughout the project Tony (Project Manager) had great ideas on how we could improve things, and they were always very responsive to our wishes, working very hard to make sure everything was exactly as we wanted. For as much of an ordeal as it can be to have people working at your house for four months, they made it as painless and as stress free as possible. There we no major issues or concerns, and even the minor stuff was typically cleared up in one email or phone call. I can't imagine having a better experience. And the final result is absolutely amazing! We are on the patio every day and throughout the weekends, watching football, cooking, and enjoying hosting friends and family. It's made such a huge impact on our quality of life. I only wish we had done this sooner. The scope of the work was a 16x30 covered patio, plus pavers along the front and side, and a separate paver and fire pit area. The patio has 4 skylights, a ceiling fan, 12 recessed can lights, four 4Kw heaters, a 36-inch gas fireplace, 36-inch Hestan grill and dual side burners, Bose speakers, and a 70-inch Skyvue outdoor TV. The counter tops are granite, and the kitchen, built-in seating, and fireplace are covered in natural stone. The seating is topped with natural blue stone and has built-in storage areas underneath. The flooring is Mbrico porcelain tile and it is amazing! We've already had things like grease and even a bit of paint spill on to it, but everything just wipes up effortlessly with a little shot of Formula 409 and a paper towel. It's expensive, but if you want zero maintenance flooring that will last a lifetime, this is the stuff to get. I can't speak highly enough of Timberline patio covers and their entire team. If you are looking for top quality work, you won't be disappointed.

Pricing was very competitive. Alex and his crew did a fantastic job installing my deck stairs and porch, they are beautifully done and very sturdy. Far better than what we had before. They were there within 2 days of hire and completed the work within 2 days. We told them not to paint but Alex threw in paint for just the cost of materials, which was nice. Although, I wish I had some say on the color since they didn't ask beforehand and I would have loved a natural stain instead. The crew was very kind, they'd even bring my packages into the garage for me and make sure to close the garage door when they were done. The work is sturdy, done right, and I feel confident will last. My only point of advice is to just be more mindful of the garden. I had just purchased and planted 6 new plants and had a succulent ground cover I had been working to grow out for years. It was all so trampled I thought maybe they had dug it out at first. It would have been nice to get warning so I could dig it up myself (since it was fresh planted) or for them to step around it. Overall, I'd definitely hire GAB again (and likely will to finish our deck soon) and will reccomend them to friends and family. They're responsive, quick, easy to communicate with, the work looks beautiful and done right, and the value for the price is terrific.

I had a new, completely rebuilt dock, which is fabulous. They kept the area clean while they were working, and I barely knew they were there, totally respectful. If you could describe Exteriors West with one word it would be "Outstanding" with a capital O. Dan, who is owner and installer, has got the installation down to a science. Dan arrived at my home around 8am to install a 16' X 20' aluminum patio cover which he flawlessly and meticulously installed by himself and completed around 6:00pm, Including cleanup. He has been doing this work for 25 years now and it shows! Do you remember the days of great customer service and honesty of business owners in the 50's? Well there are a few still out there and Dan is one of them. Maybe that is why the Better Business Bureau has given Exteriors West an A+. He completed the patio cover then proceeded to look over the cover with a fine tooth comb, wiping down the cover removing any finger prints or dirt he saw then he continued to look it over and painting any scratch or blemish with the factory touch up paint. Just this alone took about 45 minutes to an hour this is how meticulous Dan is and what kind of commitment he has to make everything perfect. When Dan started the job he put down sheets of cardboard and covered my deck with it to protect it. And at the end of the job he swept up his work debris and picked up the cardboard. He then blew off my deck with a leaf blower and picked up any stray garbage. My deck was left cleaner than when he got there. Then fit and finish of my cover is outstanding! From the planning, selection of materials and construction, Dan has been very patient and full of information and suggestions. If you need a patio cover, carport, RV cover, railings, window awnings, whether it be residential, commercial or industrial, Exteriors West is the company you want to go with. He said he does jobs all around Washington and told me he had just returned from a commercial job in Oregon. Sorry if this sound like a commercial but when I find a company that does an outstanding job all the way around, I have to tell someone. And today, you're that someone.

They came out to talk thru the project and discussed options but no hard sell (which I appreciate). They assign a project manager (Blake in my case) to coordinate and keep things on schedule. However, the heroes of the project were Michael + Jonathan who built our fence. The took out the prior fence and checked in with our 96 yr old neighbor that we share the fence with to make sure he approved. He did! The walked me thru the finished fence and even added a "puppy protector" mini fence to keep our dog contained. They were super respectful, kind and FAST. It looks great and with the great warranty, we couldn't be happier.

What a Nightmare!…read more Our experience with Cascade Fence & Deck was frustrating and exhausting. We paid nearly $48,000 for a deck, expecting quality workmanship, professionalism, and clear communication. Unfortunately, that was far from our experience. From the beginning, communication was poor, scheduling was inconsistent, and we had serious concerns about the quality of the work. We observed uneven decking, excessive fraying, poorly cut or damaged boards, improperly installed fasteners, and a worksite that was repeatedly left in unacceptable condition. These are issues that should have been caught and corrected by the company, not repeatedly pointed out by the homeowners. We specifically requested an in-house crew, yet subcontractors were sent instead. This was particularly frustrating because we had made our preference clear from the beginning. We were so dissatisfied with their workmanship and conduct that we eventually asked for them to be removed from the project. What bothered us most was that the company wasn't proactively offering to correct the problems we identified. I had to repeatedly push and demand that issues be addressed. We shouldn't have had to fight for basic workmanship standards on a project costing nearly $48,000. The attached photos shows how the property was left on a day the crew wasn't even scheduled to work. This wasn't an isolated incident. Our property was left in similar conditions for more than half of the project. We found the worksite messy and unsafe, and it was disappointing to see so little consideration for our home. We identified more than 30 areas of excessive fraying throughout the deck. When I raised concerns, I was told a good pressure washing would take care of it. Considering this is finished composite decking, I found that response concerning. Only some of the workmanship issues shown in the attached photos were ever addressed. Even after a new crew came in to finish the project, there were still problems. The skirting boards were damaged, the skirting door rubbed against its frame, and the door handle was already damaged. The photos show the condition of these areas immediately after the project was completed, not after months of use. It's incredibly disappointing that these issues remained even after the company had an opportunity to make things right. We also experienced a lack of transparency and what we felt was dishonesty regarding the permitting and inspection process. We repeatedly had to ask questions, seek clarification, and request updates before eventually involving company leadership. I spent an unbelievable amount of time documenting concerns, emailing employees, following up, and monitoring the project. We thought we hired professionals. Instead, I felt like I had to oversee the work myself just to make sure our concerns were taken seriously. My husband and I value our time, and we certainly didn't expect to spend this much of it managing a company we hired to do a job. Although some efforts were eventually made to correct certain problems, we remain disappointed with the finished product. There are scratches on the decking, unresolved workmanship concerns, and questions about how certain areas will hold up over time. What made this experience especially frustrating wasn't just the workmanship. It was the lack of accountability, inconsistent communication, and the fact that we had to continually advocate for issues to be corrected rather than the company taking the initiative. Once trust was lost, it became difficult to feel confident in the work being done. I do appreciate the individuals who eventually made an effort to address our concerns. However, those efforts don't change the overall experience or the condition of the finished product. We documented the entire project through photographs, videos, and written communication. I strongly encourage anyone considering Cascade Fence & Deck to carefully review their contract, confirm whether an in-house crew or subcontractors will be performing the work, stay involved throughout the project, and document everything. Better yet, find a company you don't have to micromanage that isn't a HACK. For nearly $48,000, we expected a much better experience and a finished product we could feel good about. Instead, what should have been an exciting home improvement project turned into weeks of unnecessary stress, frustration, and disappointment. Based on our experience, we would not recommend Cascade Fence & Deck.

During the process of accepting his bid I changed my mind a few times on some of the details and he was very patient and pleasant about all of my questions and changes. He is very easy to talk to and work with. From our first meeting when Andy came out to do the estimate I was so impressed with his obvious knowledge of deck construction and he explained all of the different aspects of choosing decking materials. We ended up going with Azek decking with Timber Tech composite railing with matching Azek drink rail for the top rail and it is just gorgeous! I couldn't be more pleased with it. After we get our backyard overhauled and in good shape I plan to have them do a new fence. There's no reason to look anywhere else for a deck or fence. Andy came…read moreby and actually walked me through the whole process -- not just what he'd do, but why he'd do it a certain way. He explained where it made sense to invest a little more and where we could cut back without sacrificing quality. No pushy sales pitch, no checkbox quoting -- just someone who clearly knows his craft and cares about doing the job right. I had done some research ahead of time and knew my existing deck had a structural quirk that would matter during the rebuild -- Andy was the only one of the three contractors who caught it. That made the decision easy. His quote wasn't the cheapest or the most expensive, but it was fair and came backed with great reviews and a clean WA contractor's license (which, shockingly, not all of them had). That sealed the deal for us. We ended up completely rebuilding two decks using TimberTech PVC -- a smaller 10'x10' one, and a 26'x12' deck that's 20 feet in the air with two staircases and a landing. The whole project took about 3.5 weeks from demo to final touches. Andy's CAD drawings were spot-on. When surprises came up (like discovering the house's floor joists ran in the opposite direction), Andy just handled it -- added a beam, footings, and posts without delay or extra cost. Same deal with a couple small punch list items at the end (a dinged downspout, some siding, trim details). No fuss, no runaround -- his crew just showed up and made it right. The build crew was great to work with -- friendly, respectful, and meticulous. They kept the site clean and were clearly proud of their work. You could see it in the precision of the cuts and the fact that everything was perfectly straight, square, and level. Even the more delicate custom cuts -- like a half rip-cut board to fit under the house -- were nailed with crazy accuracy making it look like the boards extend under the house. Bottom line -- I'd 100% recommend Andy and his team at Heilman to anyone in the Seattle/Eastside area. If I ever need more deck or fence work (though this deck will probably outlive me), I won't even bother getting other quotes. These guys are the real deal.
