Season Spa will be my new go-to mani nail salon! I've been looking for a new nail salon and my co-worker recommended Season Spa. I scheduled a gel mani with Raymond a month in advance because I heard he is always fully booked. Before coming here, I had hard gel on. When removing my hard gel, Raymond worried that my nail bed was going to be too weak to withhold regular gel and it might just chip. He recommended leaving a thin layer of hard gel at the tip of my nail so it doesn't chip. Raymond also fixed one of my half-chipped nails. I showed a picture to Raymond of the design I wanted and he delivered it!!! I've been asking other nail techs at other salons for this design, but none of them can do it correctly, whereas Raymond did! I'm so glad my co-worker recommended me this spot. I had high expectations for this salon but honestly it was a huge let down. Pics from other customers were WONDERFUL and this is what I got......? Both of my thumbs are extremely uneven and bumpy. All ten of my fingers look deformed and dirty. The chrome power application was super uneven and I can still see my fingernail beneath it. They didn't even do my cuticles and I ask them in the beginning if they were gonna do it and they said later. Which is actually never ig. When they took off my initial nail art they did it very aggressively and pinched my nail very hard. Here is a side my side comparison of the nails I did in this salon and the nails I did in a beginner's salon. I will suffer a few days in these nails and if I can't grow to accept it I will take it off and go back to the beginner salon were prices are significantly cheaper and takes more care of my nails. I had gentleman didn't get his name, but I think it was Raymond. He was so attentive and was careful the entire appointment. When it came time to soak off my old gel and he saw that I was on my phone during my pedi he went to go get me a stylist to use while my nails were soaking ( it's the little things that count!!!) I was searching for a place to do eyelash extensions and was really hoping I had found my go-to place here. Season Spa seemed clean, professional, and the lashes (natural looking ones) were complete in about 45 minutes (which, in hindsight is probably a warning sign). I loved the way they looked and received plenty of compliments on the first few days. But it's been just two weeks and the majority of the lashes on my left lid had fallen off by the first week - starting with the section in the middle (which left me having to draw in that section with eyeliner to hide it because I had no time to return for refills....which also defeats the purpose of these lashes in the first place!). The lashes on the right eye fell off more evenly but eventually (by the end of week 2) I had to pull them all off because the lashes left looked so strange. I am used to having eyelash extensions stay in for at least a month and take care not to disturb them, so I was very disappointed with this. Season Spa: My go to place for super affordable microdermabrasion facials and massages in Chinatown... but let me stress that you are not paying for ambiance. For a gal on a very tight budget though, this place is great. They have amazing packages and deals on most treatments. Service is just as good if not better than the pricy places I've been to. These women take their time on you whether it's working out that knot on your back or annihilating that pimple on your chin into oblivion. Remember the part I said about not paying for ambiance? You can pretty much hear everything being said in the front area. Walls are thin, what can I say. Small basement salon, they've got two manicure stations and a few massage rooms in the back. We just walked in, and they were able to accommodate us which was great. We stumbled in here when we had time to kill before a dinner reservation, and decided to get massages. Despite the fact that we were the most annoying customers ever, the salon was very nice about accommodating us. We kept having to shorten our time, and everyone was very flexible about our time constraints. They let us have a cheaper rate for a shorter version of their hour long massages. Pretty simple interior, but they make up for it with a good combination of cheap price and low sketch factor (which you can't say for every place in the area). They have small private rooms for massages that include a small shower. Simple but definitely really relaxing, would definitely recommend. read more

My nail technician was very thorough and did a great paint job. I never felt like she rushed at any point. I noticed that they massage less here than in other places but it's not a deal breaker. My pedi looks amazing but my mani chipped the day after I got it done. I didn't really do much strenuous work with my hands. Ok first ever review on Yelp but felt the need to share my love for Season Spa! Found it via Yelp recommendations on the fly while looking for a quickie massage for the kinks in my shoulder. They happened to have a 30 minute slot and I took it. No frills massage and straight to the point. Not your typical frou frou place with scented oils or candles but if you are looking for amazing back work, I would recommend Season Spa. Sometimes it gets a little loud during busy hours because their sound proofing could be better but they do make effort to keep the noise down with "Shhh" signs all over the place. I ended up signing up for membership and now go there regularly for massages and facials (which are great also because they do extractions without you looking like a swollen tomato afterwards). Used several masseuses and their skill level were all on par with each other. Also just got my nails done for the first time here by Raymond (french gel) and I have to say he is on top of his game. I came here for a body scrub and left a little disappointed. I've done a Korean body scrub before and I loved it, but I know there are different versions of body scrubs. For that reason I wanted to make sure I was getting the right one. That was a little difficult because the person I initially spoke to didn't speak English well enough to understand what I was asking. Someone else called me back and said that it was the same. When I had it done before I was on a rubber table and a lady used a scrubbing towel to scrub and some kind of balm. I also sat in a steam room before so my skin could be moistened. Afterwards I showered and I felt squeaky clean and soft. Here I just changed and laid on a wooden table. A lady came in and had mittens and used some kind of salt scrub wash that you buy in the store. She used water from a bowl to get the salts off, and then put lotion on me. Afterwards I felt very sticky and my skin didn't feel any softer. It just felt like I had lotion on. Also I could hear the other ladies that worked there talking pretty loud and I didn't appreciate one woman opening the door to come in to talk to the woman doing my service while I was undressed and my breast were exposed. That was rather uncomfortable. I really don't like feeling like I wasted my money but that's exactly how I felt in this case. They were really friendly though and was nice enough to still accommodate me even though I was late. read more

I usually get regular or gel manicures and regular pedicures with either Raymond and Lily! Raymond makes nails perfect and Lily is very sweet! When I make appointments, I wait an additional 15-25 minutes and am sometimes rushed out because it's closing time which I think is unfair and nail design is messed up a bit but I still recommend coming here. I have been looking for a place for quality facial that doesn't make my wallet hate me. I booked an appointment via Yelp (super helpful on scheduling, and they respond fast!) for the sensitive facial that's $55 for 70 minutes. Absolutely amazing! They use a steamer during extraction and a high frequency tool post extraction which is an A+ for me. The woman who helped me was very attentive to all areas of face and didn't just rush through it. The mini massage was a lovely added bonus (included in some of the facials). For $55, this is a steal beyond words in Manhattan- and my face is amazing right now! For those that have not had extractions done before, it's painful. The pain level depends on what part of your face, your pain tolerance, and how bad the white head is. Just gotta power through it- beauty is pain! Your face and the spots will most likely be red post facial, so don't expect the effects to be immediate (besides the glow!). To be fair, I've only gone to HeyDay in the city since I moved to New York, and while I love the vibe of HeyDay, they really just lather on their products onto your face. Although it feels relaxing and they are great products, I feel as if they do not give you time to absorb all the good stuff from the products (they pride themselves in quick, on the go treatments) as well as more attentive extractions. I would recommend going to HeyDay for a quick pick me up if you have an event the upcoming weekend but definitely Season Spa for a deep, deep cleanse! read more

Their mini facial is very thorough and for the $35 price, it can't be beat. They have a great package deal where it's buy 5 get one free. Here's where I'm a bit peeved. I wasn't intending to repurchase the package when I came in but I decided to at checkout. They asked me if I wanted to charge it which I definitely needed to b/c I don't carry around $175 in cash. Not once was it mentioned that they were going to charge me a service fee for using my cc. It popped up on my statement and I'm actually quite angry about it. I would have just done the one time service had I known. I'm going to continue to use up my remaining facials since I already paid for it (plus 5%) but I think it's very dishonest of them to not disclose that fact. read more
