Monday, I inquired about a vehicle. I received a text from Blake indicating the car was still in inventory. My next response was that I will be down tomorrow (driving an hour away). Blake's response "Touch base with me first thing in the morning to make sure it was still available." Tuesday morning, I texted Blake and asked if the car was still available. Blake's response "It is still available (thumbs up)." The next text I sent was to confirm the address. Blake texted the address. After an hour drive, I arrived. I informed Blake I was here to see the vehicle, but I don't see the car on the lot. He was unaware that the car was gone. He made a call and he was told the car was being sent back to person that sold Seasell Auto the car because the air conditioning did not work. This was a major inconvenience to drive an hour and the car is not in inventory within hours of being told it was still in inventory. If Blake is the manager as he said he was, he should be the first to be told the status of every car on that lot, whether is going out as a sale, repairs... or coming in. He should ensure all cars go through a thorough diagnostic before advertising it. The car was on the lot for 20 days before they learned the AC did not work, and they happened to learn that minutes before I got there. He said (and wanted to) still sell me the car BUT at the advertised price, knowing that a MAJOR feature that was advertised (i.e., air conditioning) did not work. Needs to incorporate deeper customer service skills and know just by saying "sorry" does not go well when someone drive an hour (making it a total of 2 hour drive.) He did not have the common courtesy to call me and let me kknow the car was not on the lot. I would have been ok if I got there, and the car was sold...but for them to have learned the car was not sellable minutes bore I got there.... it's just BAD service!

Excellent purchase experience…read more I have been looking for several months, on-line and at many other dealers for the next car. Finally stumbled on what I was looking for when I finally to check out the CarMax listings. The car was in SC, easy shipment to Wilmington for a first look and test drive. That first look and test drive was delayed for a week because CarMax found a problem with the car. CarMax immediately refunded the transport fee while still holding the car in reserve for my eventual test drive. I hadn't even asked about that, I was impressed. The week delay was not a problem for me, I'm happy they took it Bob King Mercedes for its diagnosis and easy fix. The team there (at CarMax), including many in the service department were transparent in communicating the cars status while I waited to test drive it. I don't recall all the names but do recall Josh and Martin. Overall, everybody we've met or talked to (even just walking through the office space), made greetings, were professional and courteous, great bunch of people. On test drive and purchase day, we were fortunate to have Katie Ricketts as our Customer Specialist to take us through the complete process. Katie is a leading example of the complete team at CarMax, professional, personable and courteous. Plus, she's very detail orientated when processing the paperwork, and efficient while doing it.
