Billy replaced the capacitor, cleaned the coils and removed some dead vines that had grown into the cage. Before he left you could feel the temperature becoming cooler in the house. He was professional and even pointed out a vent hose that had come loose for an attic exhaust fan. read more

Review for Sears Home Repair & Sears Home Warranty I have carried a Sears Home Warranty since building my home 12 years ago. Over that time, the service has gone steadily downhill, and my most recent experience has convinced me never to renew again. The warranty is advertised to include twice-yearly preventative maintenance on covered appliances. In reality, when you actually need a repair, Sears often doesn't have a technician available in a reasonable timeframe. This year I began having problems with my LG dishwasher. I placed my first service call in March. It is now September, and only recently was the issue resolved--after months of delays, multiple visits from different technicians, and numerous parts being ordered, returned, and declared "not covered" or "not needed." After wasting nearly half a year, I was finally told the dishwasher had to be replaced. The replacement process was equally disappointing. I was not allowed to replace my LG with another LG--or even a comparable model. My only option was a cheaper GE dishwasher that doesn't match my existing appliances and lacks the features (like the third rack) that my previous unit had. Their position was that "all it has to do is wash dishes." To make matters worse, the technicians caused damage during their repeated visits. My hardwood floors were scratched, trim was pulled loose and never reinstalled, and the new dishwasher was installed crooked--one side nearly flush with the cabinets while the other sticks out half an inch. The cabinet trim and shoe molding were left leaning against the dishwasher instead of properly reattached. In short: Five months to decide whether to repair or replace. Multiple failed visits and misdiagnoses. Forced downgrade to a cheaper, non-matching appliance. Damage to my home left unrepaired. A warranty is supposed to give peace of mind. Instead, Sears turned a simple dishwasher issue into a six-month nightmare, leaving me with a worse appliance and damage to my home. On a five-star scale, the one star I'm forced to give is far too generous. read more

This turned into a very unpleasant experience which is still currently ongoing. My refrigerator wasn't repaired on the first visit. When the second technician finally arrived he informed me he couldn't complete the repair because the warranty company must refile the claim as re‑work. Is it just me, or does getting paid twice for the same repair that was never fixed to begin with seem morally wrong. If the problem wasn't resolved the first time charging again isn't a new service it's a failure to deliver on the first one. Payment should be tied to successful resolutions not repeated failed attempts. Nevertheless, I did as instructed and went through the warranty process again. After the appointment was re-scheduled and confirmed a window time frame was given for Monday, June 29th between 8am-5pm in which the technician failed to show up or even call to say they weren't coming! What makes this even more frustrating is that this provider relies entirely on automated Al representatives instead of human support. So when an issue falls outside the norm and actually requires critical thinking, the system simply can't understand to resolve it. This entire repair has now dragged on for more than three weeks with lots of unnecessary back‑and‑forth. I really hope my warranty company reevaluates their relationship with this service provider. UPDATE TO MY EARLIER "DO NOT USE SEARS HOME SERVICES" REVIEW. Update on my earlier review where Sears cannot repair their own products. This all started in May 2024. Sears came out and fixed my icemaker, which lasted 2.5 months. Then, because it had been over 30 days, I had to pay another copay. Several times they had to reschedule when I had scheduled to be home. Every part of the icemaker has been replaced (after 5 visits) and they tell me they will make it right after my last review. The ice maker has been replaced, wiring has been checked, sensors have been replaced and other parts....multiple visits before they finally come up with the whole door needs to be replaced. That's convenient since they no longer make them.....the refrigerator is only 12 years old. So not only can't their own service team repair their own products, but their products become obsolete quickly. This whole experience with Sears Home Services has been shady from the start. 10:54 a.m. 11-26-24 - Just got off the phone with Sears. Ernesto told me that I would need to pay another copay. I asked for a supervisor. He tried to tell me he wouldn't put me through...that them would tell me the same thing he is. Supposedly the supervisor will call me back....this is so shady. I was charged two separate fees from him on my fridge and dishwasher. I told him and showed him what was broken on the fridge. And on the dishwasher, a screw was the wrong type used on install and he didn't even change it out but still charged me a fee. I felt ripped off. read more

I am sure he was knowledgeable but he didn't even pull the fridge out to look at the coils, compressor or anything. The concern was the change in temperature of the fridge and the research I did suggested a fan compressor, fan or dirty coils. At a minimum for the cost of the visit, I would have expected a full examination of the appliance. Maybe just dust off the coils to humor me. He just checked the temperature of the inside and out, didn't even touch it, and said that it was 'normal', even when I shared that it was not 'normal' for that fridge. I should have gotten a full appliance inspection for the $140. Not professional , not even a service in my opinion. He didn't tell me a thing I didn't already know. read more

AC was not fixed properly. I had thermostat to measure the AC vent temperature it was in the range of 73. It wasn't cool enough. But service person didn't listen, he said if it run for some time it will cool for buy it doesn't. Now I have to make one more appointment to fix the same problem. read more
