I called Abbey Hosseini owner/repairman of Budget Appliance of New London to fix my Speed Queen…read moredrier that was making a squeaking noise. He spent three hours on it. When done it was making a grinding noise and the drum was very tight. Abbey said it was an issue with the frame and sometimes if it keeps running it goes away. I sensed this was wrong. Called another repair man who diagnosed it. A number of the parts he put back together were wrong or backwards. The felt gasket in the front of dryer that the drum rotates against were cut because he put the drum in backwards after doing other damage that created sharp edges on the drum. The belt he replaced was too small. He greased the bearings too much, which I'm told he wasn't suppose to grease at all. There was oil splattered around inside and pieces of felt that were cut way because he put the drum in backwards after damaging it. Just ordered some new parts. This guy doesn't know what he's doing. If I had done what he said and kept running it, it would have ruined a $1500 Speed Queen dryer.

The first tech Choice Home Warranty assigned to me for a water heater that wasn't staying hot…read moreno-showed twice. Connor was assigned to me after that. He was very polite and called to confirm a few days before he was due to come out. I believe this was a Friday evening and he was due to come out the next Monday. After explaining the wait I'd already had due to the previous tech no-showing he asked if I could explain the issue and take some pictures of the unit so he could be sure to have parts ready and avoid further delays. I appreciated that as I'd been without hot water for a couple weeks already. My water heater is old and out of warranty and also didn't have an expansion tank which has recently become required for code. He asked if I'd like a new water heater as the parts and labor expense aren't worth it for a unit the age of mine. I said yes if that's what makes sense and Choice would approve. He submitted the claim to Choice and it was approved. I got the email from Choice explaining the amount covered and the amount due to Connor. I approved the amount through Choice. (This next part is where I messed up). Connor sent me a professional invoice for the amount and I paid it ($1,000). He was to order the replacement water heater and new expansion tank and set up a time to install. All the communication from Choice and the amounts they said I'd be responsible for and what I was billed Connor matched up. Connor was great with communication about what had come in and what he was waiting on. Toward the end of the week he calls and everything is in, BUT he no longer works with Choice. This is where I started to get suspicious. He said I could either pay the balance of what Choice would have been paying him or he can return the items and give me a refund. I called Choice to get their perspective and while they wouldn't tell me why they didn't work with him anymore, they were concerned he'd already been paid. That's when I did some googling and found this Yelp page. Seems like this is a common experience. I ended up telling Connor I wasn't comfortable going outside of the warranty agreement so would like the refund. He said he'd return it all that weekend and I'd get a refund. I kept in touch about a status of the return and refund (knowing I had been scammed, but giving the benefit of the doubt) and was told the unit had been returned to Lowe's, but the it has to be sent back to the warehouse for the return and refund to be processed so it could take a while. At this point I called several Lowe's locations and asked about their return policy for water heaters and explained the story I was given about it needing to go back to a where house. They all confirmed my suspicions that there is no such process and returns and refunds are issued immediately at the store though there may be a delay for money to hit an account. Again, he was very polite through all our communications, but I think that's just how he gets away with what he does. I've attached screen shots from our communication asking for proof he purchased/returned the items he didn't have/wouldn't provide. I did end up challenging the charge with my CC company and did get a refund in a few days.

They sent out a repairman a couple days later, he spent about a half hour or so diagnosing the problem and told me the door needed to be replaced. The estimate was 1500.00 for the door plus tax, shipping and installation. I paid less than 1300.00 for the refrigerator itself so I declined the repairs but still had to pay 140.00 for the service call. A day or so later I decided to look into it myself and found some videos online to diagnose the problem. Turns out the icemaker needed replacement, I ordered a new one and installed it myself, 90.00 parts and a little bit of my time and my fridge is making ice. An update to this review: after posting the manager of A Action reached out to me and apologized for the misdiagnosis of my fridge and offered a refund for the service call. He was friendly and wanted to make things right, he also made me aware that they have had a lot of problems with my model and usually quote it for door replacement and mentioned a possible class action lawsuit against whirlpool for a poor design.
