Due to the age of our condo complex and unsafe electrical panels, we hired Searle Electric, Inc. to replace our Zinsco electrical panel today. The owner, Chris Searle, sent electrician Chris Minglana to our condo. After cutting into the sheetrock and discovering studs and pipes behind the sheetrock, Chris realized that it would be "quite an undertaking" to replace the outdated and dangerous electrical panel. However, after intense brainstorming and persistence, both the owner and the electrician, Chris, decided to replace the panel with a smaller compact unit made by Square D that would fit comfortably into the space they had cut out. Square D is a trusted brand of Schneider Electric that manufactures high-quality reliable product and rated as one of the Best Circuit Breaker Panels on the 2023 list. It was quite an involved project replacing the panel, however, after 4 1/2 hours, the electrician, Chris, and Mr. Searle were able to install our new Square D electrical panel with Success!! Mr. Searle has been wonderful to us throughout the years! He rescued us from a disastrous situation a few years ago when our frig/freezer shut off and we lost hundred of dollars in New York steaks. He is great about answering his cell phone and responds promptly to messages left. He has a way of putting the customer at ease when stressful or intense situations arise. Monterey County including Pacific Grove is very fortunate to have Searle Electric, Inc and an owner as caring, professional, and knowledgeable as Chris Searle . I was driving on the highway and I was already going 80 in the fast lane. I look back and see there's a truck tailgating me. This continues for a few miles during when he flashed his high beams multiple times and kept following me closely. I merge to the middle lane just to get away from him and eventually merge all the way to the right lane and get off on the Seaside off ramp. Then I see the truck speed up in the opposite lane while I'm exiting and the man driving sticks his middle finger up. I then looked down at the truck and noticed a company logo. And here we are. I don't know if that man was the owner or an employee or what. But I do know that if you're gonna drive like an ass backwards fuckwit, maybe it's not the best idea to do it in a company car. read more

After the crazy winds and storms of mid February, my 90-year old friend in Pebble Beach was amongst hundreds without power for 5 days. The saturated ground coupled with winds wreaked havoc on the community. My friend had a Monterey Pine fall across her driveway, severing the power lines to her house. Late on Saturday, PG&E informed us that an electrician was needed to repair the power receptacle on the roof. It was pretty torn up. Chris Searle was our angel to the rescue early on Sunday morning. He made the repairs and coordinated with PG&E, letting them know the house was ready for reconnection. We are forever grateful to Chris and his company, and wouldn't think of using another electrician when in need. read more

Mr. Searle called me right back, came straight over after his work that day to see what the problem was, and had new wall heaters installed the following day! Even in a house of kids and a loud dog he stayed calm and got it all done fast. We really appreciated it, since the main bedroom was freezing at night. It is now very warm. I called Searle Electric to install several can lights as well as install/switch out a few other fixtures in my house. Not only were they the only one of the 4 electric companies I called to actually call me back, they promptly bid my project and then scheduled the work quickly. They did a super job and the 3 electricians who did the job showed up promptly and were very, very easy to work with and professional even though I changed and added on to the project spontaneously! I'm so surprised that there aren't more GREAT reviews for this business! We recently had occasion to call around for some quotes on a "honey-do list" of electrical needs - installing two ceiling fans, installing some motion-sensor lights, retrofitting some old 2 prong (grounded) outlets to 3 prong, etc. First, I got a written quote from another company, which came in at $2200! i was totally blown away by that quote, as I expected maybe $800 or so for the level of work we wanted done. So I then called Searle Electric, and spoke with Dan, the owner. He asked me what all we wanted done, so I read him off our list - he gave me an "over the phone" estimate of $400 to $500. Uh, wow, now THERE is a difference, huh? I asked him if he wanted to come out and take a look at the job, like the first guy did, and he said, no, he was confident that the work would fall into that range. First out was George, who quietly got busy and with confidence and expertise, accomplished more in a couple hours than I expected. Then James came by too, and did a few of the other jobs on the list. Both men were courteous, personable, and definitely know their business! When the final tally came in - $400! Wow. How refreshing. Also Michaela (and I hope I'm spelling that correctly) holds down the fort at the office and is wonderful about calling to check how things are going, follows up when she says she will, and is just generally a nice person to talk to. You can rest assured that any future needs for electrical work will be given immediately to Searle Electric! We couldn't be more pleased. read more

These guys were top notch! I chose them because of their Diamond Certified status, which might just be a marketing gimmick, I'm not sure, but in this case it helped me make an excellent selection. I am a first-time homeowner and repairs are still scary and new to me and using Searle was a good first experience. The outlets in my living room and kitchen were the kind that are a metal box sticking out from the wall, and they were down at floor level. I wanted to install hardwood flooring and not have to cut it around these ugly old outlet boxes, so I called Searle to see about recessing them and moving them up to a normal height on the wall. George did the quote for me and then two days later, George and another guy came out to do the work. George is a character! Friendly, with funny stories, works fast and does good work. They were prompt and showed up when they said they would. Their work was thorough and good. The project took less time and cost me less than I had been quoted, which made me very happy. Since I am tight on funds, I asked if I could do the cleanup so I wouldn't be paying their wage for the sweeping/vacuuming process. They were fine with it and I saved a few more bucks. Next time I need electrical work done, I will have no qualms about calling Searle. read more

I have worked with Searle Electric twice. The first time was challenging. I was happy with the work but unhappy with dealings with the management. I just had Searle come back for a second time. This time was much different. The work was very thorough and all interactions with the owner and the person who did the work were very good. My power had gone out -- and Dan, the owner sent someone out that day -- so that I could get my refrigerator turned back on. I had more work than needed but that was due to my mistake, not theirs. I recommend Searles highly.I intend to call on them whenever I need work in the future. read more

Awful customer service!! I made my first appointment and it was never recorded so I when I called 45 minutes after they were supposed to show up the receptionist had no idea what I was talking about. For the follow up appointment I called 15 minutes after they were supposed to be at the house and the owner said that the electrician had to go pick up the supplies and that he would be there in 30-40 minutes... a full hour after the appointment time. If you appreciate your time don't call Searle! read more
