Because of the shingles the roof needed to be stripped down to the rafters and 100 4X8 underlayment's needed to be layer down. Because of underlayment's, my budget was compromised. The Supervisor, Santiago, worked with his office and got me financing so quickly that the work progress never stopped. Working with Santiago was easy as the two-way communication was flawless. Got that? Among the coupons in the Consumer Pak that came in the mail was one for Saratoga Roofing. It said they also did siding in addition to roofing. I figured that might give them an advantage. I called, talked to a real person, and explained what my problem was. I was informed that their estimator, Oleg, would be contacting me to schedule a visit. I received the call from Oleg not more than 30 minutes later. He was able to schedule a visit later that same day. When Oleg arrived, we reviewed the work that needed to be done. Taking advantage of his presence and knowledge, I pointed out a less urgent problem with the soffit in a different section of the house, and a concern I had with some siding at a third location. He assured me that the two soffit problems could be fixed and that I did not need to be concerned about the siding issue. We then agreed upon a price to do the soffit repairs. I was next actually surprised to see that Oleg was prepared to do the repairs right then and there. He unloaded the necessary ladders, tools, and equipment to safely scale the garage roof and fix my major problem. With that section of soffit resolved he moved to the other side of the house and realigned and secured the other soffit. I can't be more pleased with the service, promptness, and work performed by Saratoga Roofing. Oleg was very personable and a pleasure to work with.

They protected my shrubs and lawn by putting down tarps to catch the old shingles, underlayment, and debris. The cleanup afterwards was amazing, I did not find a single piece of roof debris anywhere on the ground. They even fixed a loose piece of vinyl siding for me while they were up on their ladders. Their communication of details was on point, and they handled my surprisingly nosy neighbor and HOA president with professionalism and aplomb. I am 100% satisfied with the quality of their workmanship and price. If I had another roof to re-shingle, I would hire them again.

Upfront and in fairness, we took the owner of this business (Donald T. Fay) to Schenectady City…read moresmall claims court and lost after we had hired him in October 2023 for a bathroom remodel. We took him to court on what we believed was a breach of contract, but according to NYS law Mr. Fay didn't write a legitimate contract so it didn't cover us. We learned what he provided, and what we signed, is considered a workmanship agreement. This type of agreement offers virtually no protection for the buyer unless the work is deemed unusable and unsafe. We selected specific tiles we wanted for our bathroom remodel project and Mr. Fay purchased tiles that were close to what we wanted but different brands, sizes, and quality without receiving our approval for the substitution. Mr. Fay lied in court and said that this was our agreement (to get close to what I wanted) despite what he wrote on the agreement we signed. He even provided the receipt of the purchased materials to the Judge which showed he didn't purchase what we asked for. Mr. Fay's workmanship was overall poor. The walls of the shower were out-of-plumb, the grout work shows mortar and tile separator tabs, he did not put in any framing to support a shower door, and the tile cuts he made are unclean. He scratched wood floors and dented walls. Pictures attached for examples of work quality. He tried to take advantage of us by buying cheaper tiles and pocketing the money. He was deceitful when we confronted him, so we fired him and would not let him do any further work. We've lost a significant amount of money in this process as we are having all of his work torn out and redone. Heed our warning and learn from our mistake, unless the contract meets the requirements of the New York State General Business Law you are not protected as a purchaser of services. It was a complete mistake hiring Mr. Fay.
