This might be the best hotel deal in the state of Florida…read more We booked the "Forget Me Not" room, and we were shocked to see what we got for less than $150 per night. The room is huge, with numerous windows along the length of two walls facing the gulf. It's open and airy, and you can open the windows to hear the sounds of the gulls and the water breaking on the pylons. The east facing side of the room (a perfect sunrise viewpoint) has a large deck stretching the length of the room with an extra bit jutting out in the center that you can fish from without accidentally hitting the rod on the overhang. You can't look out onto the gulf for more than 30 seconds without spotting dolphins playing in the water. The building is old but the interior is immaculate. I have to admit I was surprised at how clean and well kept it is. If you've ever stayed at a locally owned hotel in the Florida Keys, you probably know what I'm talking about -- you have to judge them with a different measuring stick. Harbour Master's rooms aren't like that at all. They look great. Parking is on the street and on a busy day, you won't find any. However, there is car parking near the trailer parking area in a few places. If you have to park out there (it's about a 5-minute walk to the hotel), they will take you back to your car in a golf cart so you can get your bags. We just waited until night fell and people started leaving Dock St., and then moved the car to a spot just a few steps from the room. Wireless internet access is free with the room, and it is VERY welcome. Cedar Key is a dead zone for cell service, so this is most often going to be your access to the rest of the world. But you're in Cedar Key to relax, right? Maybe just leave your phone in the room. :-) As far as room for improvement, there really isn't much (obviously, none is enough of an issue to affect my rating): The air conditioning is strong and feels great after a hot day on the water, but the A/C unit itself is on the deck. When it kicks on, if you're out on the deck, it's jarring and very loud. It would be nice if there was a little sound barrier there to help mitigate that somewhat. Roaches. You can't blame the hotel for this. Roaches are a fact of life in Florida, and especially in the old coastal areas. They can get into literally everything, and it's impossible to exclude them from an area without hermetically sealing it. The first night of our stay we found three of them in the bathroom, just hanging out together. They were quickly dispatched and disposed of, and we never saw a single bug after that. Maybe we made an example. I don't know. Out on the deck, they hang out underneath the wood planks during the day and come out at night. When we would go out onto the deck in the middle of the night, we'd see about half a dozen scatter into the crevices. They didn't get in our way. We never saw a single bug of any kind anywhere in the living area of the hotel room. Between the signs on the windows, the decorations in the rooms, some of the items sold in the gift shop, the owner's christian faith is certainly undeniable, but it's a bit heavy handed. I found it tiresome but easy to ignore. It's their business and they have the right to decorate as they see fit. Overall, you can get cheaper rooms in Cedar Key, but you CAN NOT get a better deal in Cedar Key, all things considered.

We called Harbour Master Suites two months before we wanted to visit and the majority of rooms were…read moresold out. We snagged a room at one of their "off site" properties, blue bungalow. It was a one bed, one bathroom that had a sitting area, kitchenette, and balcony. We first noticed how clean the room was. In general, that was true but I found random pieces of hair that weren't ours in the bathroom, on the couch, and who knows where else. My toddler daughter had a long strand of someone else's hair wrapped up in her hair so if may have come from the floor or the couch. That was a little bit of a turn off. The sleep accommodations were nice. The bed was comfortable and there was more than enough room for two adults and a toddler. We loved that the porch was screened in as we enjoyed being out there. There was ample parking in a carport just below the unit. The location is great. While the town is small, this place was steps away from two breakfast spots, the local pizza restaurant, and several shops. It's also a very short walk to Dock Street, where the Harbour Master Suites office and their Dilly Dally Gally is, along with other restaurants and bars. While the place could use a little more attention to detail with cleaning, overall, we enjoyed our stay and the check-in and checkout process was quick. I would be interested to return at some point to see what the room options are like at the main site.

And while our server seemed really very nice, she just wasn't attentive. We saw her only a few times so that means no water refills, no continued drink orders, and no follow up. Even had to chase the check after giving up on waiting for her to order dessert. I especially resent that when the expected gratuity's over $20. We were there far too long, nearly two hours, and while they're also a hotel, we didn't want to make a night of it. And maybe that's the thing, if you're staying here, maybe you do. So, despite an uncomfortably long dinner, the food was pretty good. We enjoyed the snails and were impressed with the fish in paper. I did think it was a bit odd the waitress immediately prompted me to check the doneness of my steak but whatever; maybe she doesn't trust the kitchen or knew she wouldn't be back. And she wasn't; well, except to get her tip after I had to go get her. It's also worth mentioning we really appreciated the complimentary fresh bread, which was pretty good, and that the mains came with both sides and soup or salad, which are nice almost forgotten perks or customary hallmarks of what nice restaurants used to do that would be extra or billed as enhancements today. There were a few other small misgivings and unmentionables, like I didn't get the side I ordered or have the opportunity to address it and they cleared but didn't clean the table between courses but whatever; it's "casual" fine dining, right? They could do better.

I had never been to Cedar Key, and was very excited. Pulling up to the B&B was a little magical. It was painted in pretty pastels, and we parked in front of their beautiful fenced in yard. It had majestic trees, and such an incredible, inviting vibe. Our room, Ms. Ida"s room, was beautifully decorated and inviting. It was large enough for our dog's large crate without making us feel cramped. The bathroom even had a beautiful claw footed tub. It was centrally located so we basically walked everywhere without issue. The Gulf of America was right there, and we really enjoyed watching the pods of dolphins frolick each night. The breakfast was delicious! We had a "Zippy", sausage and homemade biscuits. The Zippy was like a little southwestern quiche. Best of all were the people running this B&B. Heather and Cindi couldn't have made us feel more welcome, important, and frankly, loved! They were so kind and engaging, and totally doted on my dog. (Even made him his own scrambled eggs with cheese!) I had never been to Cedar Key, but I will definitely be back and will stay here again! Check it out!

Dock Street and all... but I really didn't even need to leave. It was very peaceful and relaxing and exactly what I was looking for. This BnB has it all. Charm, wonderful homemade breakfasts, friendly staff, great rooms... mine was on the 2nd floor and had its own private large balcony, accessible from the only other door up the stairs, next to the door to my room. The grounds were beautiful. I spent a good amount of time there. For just coffee, then breakfast, just before sunset in the afternoons... even just overlooking the grounds from the back porch. I walked around and looked at the different kinds of flowers... Alice pretty much does most of the landscaping. I spoke with Alice a good bit while enjoying breakfast in the garden one morning... very sweet and friendly, she truly loves the property and cares about her guests. It was my birthday weekend and my cousin and aunt contacted the BnB and spoke with Amanda. Amanda is who greeted me when I first arrived. She wished me a happy birthday and it took me some time before I figured out how she knew that. LOL When she showed me my room, I only asked about shampoo, she said because my hair was long, she guessed a 2 in 1 type of shampoo wouldn't suffice and I said, if it's something like Pantene, it would! After I returned from my afternoon out and about, there was a bottle of Pantene sitting on the decorate table outside my room. I'm not sure that it was readily available or if she actually went and bought it...but I was certainly appreciative and used it immediately. The next morning, after she read my notes on food issues (no chocolate, no almonds....) she had to ask me at breakfast what I couldn't eat again because my aunt and cousin requested gluten and dairy free, chocolate brownies to surprise me! I can and do eat gluten and dairy...but no chocolate. Amanda had in fact found gluten and dairy free brownies! They would have been wonderful...if I could eat them. Instead, she went out of her way once again and found me a vanilla cake on the fly... dressed it with hibiscus flowers and candles. She was very sweet and we talked for a while as well. Goes to show you how much they enjoy and appreciate what they do and the people they do it for. I enjoyed staying at this BnB, it encompasses old Florida and the local culture and I would definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed our time in Cedar Key and this RV campground had some good and some bad. The RV campground is older and its layout was probably carved by organic growth, rather than pre-planned out. Driving our 36' RV around the RV campground was difficult and for the first time ever, I had to ask someone to move their car so I could park in the spot. The flip side is everyone is very friendly, they have an onsite restaurant, and oh yeah... beautiful waterfront sunset views. The family would head to a dock and enjoy some time watching the sun go down every day. During the morning dog walk, I would stop to enjoy the beautiful nature that surrounds the RV campground. This RV park had water, sewer, electric and cable hookups. There was a laundry room, which was clean and had some newer machines. The WiFi was good but not always reliable. I was disappointed to find there was no playground nor dedicated dog walk. When we did leave, I found it hard to leave. The town and the RV campground were very laid back. I never once felt stressed out during my stay, since Cedar Key is at the end of the road there was no road traffic or noise. Would I recommend this park? Absolutely. Would we come back? We are debating returning to Cedar Key in a month, but we will absolutely come back. Informational: We travel in a 36' Class A RV.

Every morning we received freshly ground coffee and enjoyed it on the porch watching the jumping trout and pelicans. It was really relaxing and serene. Bathroom with plenty of towels, toiletries and places to hang your bags. There's also a living room area with tv and queen sized bed. Good folks there, And also a good birding area for those interested. This little motel has an awesome location, if your perception of "walking distance' is 'not more than 200 yards' then you've found the right place. Shops, fishing pier, bars, restaurants, beach, boat tours and more... it's a good spot to leave the car alone for a couple days! My room was clean and very spacious, with a waterview. Don't expect a chain hotel fancy design room, but as others stated already....there's a lot of stuff to do outside the room! Perfect place for laid-back people looking for a budget short stay with unbeatable value. The bedding was good. Rate was 60-ish a night. Your man in charge is friendly and makes things easy. Dockside Motel is now called Salinity Hotel. A two-night late-April 2026 stay was not all that I…read morehad hoped for. There are pluses: Room #12 did not face the street so it was reasonably quiet, the room was refurbished after Hurricane Helene in Sept 2024 and all is fairly new, the king bed is nicely supportive, coffee maker/ refridge/ microwave all work, WiFi also works outside on the deck. More pluses: closest hotel to the fishing pier, right out the door to the Dock Street restaurants, tee shirt shops, ice cream joint and wine bar. Very easy walking distance to all the 2nd Street restaurants, bars and artist shops. My complaints: lack of security and insufficient storage space. The hotel door is secured from the outside by way of an electronic push button lock. A four digit code opens it. The codes are changed (I'm told, but can't verify) with each new rental but there is no inside double lock!! No way on the inside to keep someone with a master code from entering the room while you are inside! No typical hotel mechanical inside system. Too late for my reservation but the next (potential) guest should check before booking. Made me apprehensive both nights. Room #12 is at street and deck level and has good handicap accessibility but this was a feature I didn't need. Room has a very large bathroom, at least 6' wide and 15' long with a wheelchair roll-in shower. Nice! But bathroom had 6' between the tiny wall mounted sink and the shower and only a really small cabinet (top surface only 12" by 24") that left almost no room for toiletries, pills and other misc travel items. The bedroom, while spacious (12' by 15') had the same lack of raised storage. We found the single standard folding luggage rack and put the larger of two suitcases on it. Fou the second suitcase, choices were: the small 36" round table, leave it open on the floor or return it to the car. The small 12" by 15" valet was almost worthless. I'm sad the people that run the hotel never tried to travel with luggage to the hotel. I've given the Salinity Hotel THREE STARS.
