My husband and I stayed here recently for our anniversary. It was our first time not only to Pirates Cove but to Cedar Key. We immediately fell in love with the vibe of this cute cottage resort and felt like family right away! Our cottage was perfect, private and backed up to the water which had such peaceful views all day and night on our screened in porch. Our dog came with us and she loved that porch and the town as well! We rented a street legal golf cart for our stay that you can rent right on site and that just made the experience even better! We can't say enough about our visit and still talk about it! We wish we could be up there this weekend for the seafood festival! Maybe next year and would love to have that same cottage! Lisa and Brian were amazing hosts! 10 out of 10!

My wife and I stayed here on our first trip to Cedar Key. Wonderful place to stay! Multiple cottages right along the water with kayak access. Very quiet and relaxing. We stayed in cottage #4 which is in the corner with lots of privacy, and has a screened patio. Comes with all of the essentials. Was very happy that they had a grill! We didn't want to eat out every night, so we grilled a couple times The owners were super friendly and very knowledgeable; gave us lots of good advice during our stay. We learned a lot about this wonderful little town. We will definitely stay here again for our next trip!

This place is awesome....right outside of the main town, but within walking distance to everything. The cottages offer a great place to relax and unwind and the hosts Lisa and Brian have made it a wonderful area, with bike and gold cart rentals, and an inviting courtyard for hanging out and meeting others. And they are very pet friendly, which is a huge plus for many families Already looking at a return trip!

    We love this place!

What a cool place! This should definitely be on your list for a stay on the way South! Brian & Lisa are AWESOME and enjoy a chat about your day and helping with your next Cedar Key adventure! This property is experiencing a lot of fantastic upgrades as they have just bought it. If your the type that wants the five star Marriott, please drive on...No Gym-No Fancy stuff, just down home comfortable! I'm looking forward to all Lisa & Brian are going to do with this beautiful property! Plus .... Walk to town - no need for a vehicle. Beautiful area, put ins for your kayak, the island needs more! Be careful, the tides are extreme....don't get caught! We enjoyed the Manatee State Park & Fanning Springs on the Swaunnee. Cost ..$6.00 each, BUT... you know where you are and don't have to worry about the tides! You could be out and have to drag your kayak in 100 yds plus! Stay on the River! GREAT FOOD! Lots of choices for clam chowder of course, we liked Tony's for the bread bowl, but Duncan's had the BEST tasting clam chowder! We were here 2 weeks. I would visit for a week, more then that you run out of stuff to do. Town .. Grocery Store is 25 miles plus round trip, so plan ahead! Pirates Cove IS the place to stay, can't wait for the upgrade's and look forward to visiting again!! Pet Friendly On the water Plenty of parking - Rental Bikes & Golf Cart's!!!!

Great place to stay. Just returned from a short staycation in cedar key. We stayed here from Monday till Wednesday. Hosts are very knowledgeable & friendly. If you like to fish bring your rod. If you need down time or it's rainy they have books, DVDs and boardgames available. Great hot water. You can cook in your cabin or go downtown to eat. They have golfcarts or bicycles to rent, so you don't have to drive. You won't be disappointed, we weren't.

It was a one bed, one bathroom that had a sitting area, kitchenette, and balcony. We first noticed how clean the room was. In general, that was true but I found random pieces of hair that weren't ours in the bathroom, on the couch, and who knows where else. My toddler daughter had a long strand of someone else's hair wrapped up in her hair so if may have come from the floor or the couch. That was a little bit of a turn off. The sleep accommodations were nice. The bed was comfortable and there was more than enough room for two adults and a toddler. We loved that the porch was screened in as we enjoyed being out there. There was ample parking in a carport just below the unit. The location is great. While the town is small, this place was steps away from two breakfast spots, the local pizza restaurant, and several shops. It's also a very short walk to Dock Street, where the Harbour Master Suites office and their Dilly Dally Gally is, along with other restaurants and bars. While the place could use a little more attention to detail with cleaning, overall, we enjoyed our stay and the check-in and checkout process was quick. I would be interested to return at some point to see what the room options are like at the main site.

Had a choice of eating in the bar , the dining room or outside. We chose the dining room and glad we did. Overall all our service was very good. The server was friendly ( and very busy handling a lot of tables). I had an 8oz filet which was very good. I ordered it medium ( light pink center) and it cane out true Pittsburgh rare ( charred outside but rare inside- see pics) I was actually ok with it .... I order medium for my wife to have a couple bites even though I prefer more med rare. So this was def rare inside but I loved it ( I cut her a small end piece that was cooked a little more ) The steak comes with a salad, a vegetable and potato ( a lot of restaurants everything is alacarte - so for $40 for a prime 8oz filet with those sides included .... Not bad. Wife had shrimp and grit cake which is a large appetizer ( she had as her meal). Also had stuffed mushrooms to start that were very good. I think the town of Cedar Key will prob be one and done for us. Wanted to see it , it's quaint , old Florida ... but prob wouldn't come back. ( but only because we just wanted to check it off of a long list of Florida towns to visit) Pro tip: they don't take American Express , odd for a linen table cloth type of place .... The outside was pretty full and we thought about sitting out there, but the idea of the bugs getting me later pushed us back inside. by the time we left at 6:40, there were only 3 other tables occupied in the dining room. We had a good dinner, although in reading some of the other reviews, we might have had the same server who seemed to be very slow and big gaps in between visiting our table - she seemed to disappear. I had the Calypso pasta with scallops, which was great. We had the stuffed mushrooms to start, which were yummy, but only 3. and my husband had a snapper fish of the day dish. He also enjoyed the pecan pie. And I enjoyed his ice cream. I was not a fan of any of the cocktails, so just had a glass of wine. My husband had the almond joy/mounds martini, whatever it was called, and he liked it a lot.

I had never been to Cedar Key, and was very excited. Pulling up to the B&B was a little magical. It was painted in pretty pastels, and we parked in front of their beautiful fenced in yard. It had majestic trees, and such an incredible, inviting vibe. Our room, Ms. Ida"s room, was beautifully decorated and inviting. It was large enough for our dog's large crate without making us feel cramped. The bathroom even had a beautiful claw footed tub. It was centrally located so we basically walked everywhere without issue. The Gulf of America was right there, and we really enjoyed watching the pods of dolphins frolick each night. The breakfast was delicious! We had a "Zippy", sausage and homemade biscuits. The Zippy was like a little southwestern quiche. Best of all were the people running this B&B. Heather and Cindi couldn't have made us feel more welcome, important, and frankly, loved! They were so kind and engaging, and totally doted on my dog. (Even made him his own scrambled eggs with cheese!) I had never been to Cedar Key, but I will definitely be back and will stay here again! Check it out!

Dock Street and all... but I really didn't even need to leave. It was very peaceful and relaxing and exactly what I was looking for. This BnB has it all. Charm, wonderful homemade breakfasts, friendly staff, great rooms... mine was on the 2nd floor and had its own private large balcony, accessible from the only other door up the stairs, next to the door to my room. The grounds were beautiful. I spent a good amount of time there. For just coffee, then breakfast, just before sunset in the afternoons... even just overlooking the grounds from the back porch. I walked around and looked at the different kinds of flowers... Alice pretty much does most of the landscaping. I spoke with Alice a good bit while enjoying breakfast in the garden one morning... very sweet and friendly, she truly loves the property and cares about her guests. It was my birthday weekend and my cousin and aunt contacted the BnB and spoke with Amanda. Amanda is who greeted me when I first arrived. She wished me a happy birthday and it took me some time before I figured out how she knew that. LOL When she showed me my room, I only asked about shampoo, she said because my hair was long, she guessed a 2 in 1 type of shampoo wouldn't suffice and I said, if it's something like Pantene, it would! After I returned from my afternoon out and about, there was a bottle of Pantene sitting on the decorate table outside my room. I'm not sure that it was readily available or if she actually went and bought it...but I was certainly appreciative and used it immediately. The next morning, after she read my notes on food issues (no chocolate, no almonds....) she had to ask me at breakfast what I couldn't eat again because my aunt and cousin requested gluten and dairy free, chocolate brownies to surprise me! I can and do eat gluten and dairy...but no chocolate. Amanda had in fact found gluten and dairy free brownies! They would have been wonderful...if I could eat them. Instead, she went out of her way once again and found me a vanilla cake on the fly... dressed it with hibiscus flowers and candles. She was very sweet and we talked for a while as well. Goes to show you how much they enjoy and appreciate what they do and the people they do it for. I enjoyed staying at this BnB, it encompasses old Florida and the local culture and I would definitely stay here again!

There are pluses: Room #12 did not face the street so it was reasonably quiet, the room was refurbished after Hurricane Helene in Sept 2024 and all is fairly new, the king bed is nicely supportive, coffee maker/ refridge/ microwave all work, WiFi also works outside on the deck. More pluses: closest hotel to the fishing pier, right out the door to the Dock Street restaurants, tee shirt shops, ice cream joint and wine bar. Very easy walking distance to all the 2nd Street restaurants, bars and artist shops. My complaints: lack of security and insufficient storage space. The hotel door is secured from the outside by way of an electronic push button lock. A four digit code opens it. The codes are changed (I'm told, but can't verify) with each new rental but there is no inside double lock!! No way on the inside to keep someone with a master code from entering the room while you are inside! No typical hotel mechanical inside system. Too late for my reservation but the next (potential) guest should check before booking. Made me apprehensive both nights. Room #12 is at street and deck level and has good handicap accessibility but this was a feature I didn't need. Room has a very large bathroom, at least 6' wide and 15' long with a wheelchair roll-in shower. Nice! But bathroom had 6' between the tiny wall mounted sink and the shower and only a really small cabinet (top surface only 12" by 24") that left almost no room for toiletries, pills and other misc travel items. The bedroom, while spacious (12' by 15') had the same lack of raised storage. We found the single standard folding luggage rack and put the larger of two suitcases on it. Fou the second suitcase, choices were: the small 36" round table, leave it open on the floor or return it to the car. The small 12" by 15" valet was almost worthless. I'm sad the people that run the hotel never tried to travel with luggage to the hotel. I've given the Salinity Hotel THREE STARS.
