Today my boyfriend went to buy us lunch, we eat different varieties of food. He order Lalo, which…read moreis cook with crabmeat. When he went in he advised the lady, please make sure there is seafood In there, especially if you are charging $20 for Jute leaves and crabmeat. He went to the bathroom as he waited for his order, as he was coming out she was talking to another gentleman calling him cheap (he didn't want to say anything to prevent trouble). How do you run a business allowing your staff to talk bad about a customer that is disrespectful and unprofessional. He gets home open up his food and finds chicken meat. So he calls the lady up and is like I specifically ask you to make sure there was crabmeat and extra if you can. And she goes I didn't have any so I put chicken meat. He then advised her if he told her he didn't want to order chicken so he order LaLo to get a different meat besides chicken. He advised her why would I want a different meat besides what was cook in my food. The sad part was it wasn't even a whole chicken, it was a crumble piece of chicken (that was just tossed in there) and half the top shell of the crabmeat (just a shell). She then said I didn't have anymore crabmeat and he said you should have advised me so I'm not paying $20 for jute leaves and a crumble chicken meat. He went to the restaurant to get a refund owner refused refund and the owner and staff was disrespectful. If you run your business in scamming people on false advertisement Of your food to gain profit, that's not running a business that's just theft.

Captain Jim's has the freshest seafood in North Miami…read more We often dine in, but occasionally we've also taken fish or lobsters to grill when tailgating etc., and it's always way better and fresher than what we would have picked up anywhere else. Choosing which lobster or yellowtail from the ice counter you want them to prepare, and how you want it prepared, is a fun part of the dining experience for us. Occasionally they have hog snapper or another fresh catch available. The fried lobster tail was fantastically seasoned with a little kick, and I've never had it prepared this way, chopped up into bite-sized pieces. Very filling and we could have shared one, but we still managed to devour both tails and left very full and satisfied. Each tail, including one side, was about $40 - but market price items vary based on size and weight of what's available that day. There are also plenty of less expensive options on the menu. One of my favorites is the yellowtail sandwich. And if you get there before 7:00pm you can order some oysters and lobster croquettes from the happy hour menu. Captain Jim's is a casual and comfortable restaurant with marine decor where the food is the star. Service is always friendly, helpful, and attentive.

The fish I order was supposed to be grouper, but it was very thin, and it was covered in a sauce with cheese that was overcooked as the cheese was not soft and melty, but rather dried and firm. We went back a second time because the pizza looked good. It was not as good as it looked, and the pizza sauce tasted sweet, so not to our party's liking. The warm rolls with butter were really good, and the burrata salad was also good. The atmosphere is lovely, but can get quite loud. If you like yelling over your meal to your table companions, there is live music playing on the weekends. I will say that the staff was very cordial. We were greeted at the door by friendly hosts, and every server who waited on us was also very nice and attentive.

After a full day of work, the last thing I wanted to do was drive across Miami in search of dinner…read more Fortunately, Miami Lakes has its own surprises. One of them is 1910 Restaurant & Bar, a Spanish-inspired restaurant that blends premium steaks, seafood, and a little theatrical flair without losing sight of flavor. The meal opened with an order of Cheese Balls, crisp golden spheres that reminded me of pão de queijo, except they skipped most of the bread and focused almost entirely on the cheese. The exterior shattered pleasantly, giving way to a molten, creamy center. Paired with a pineapple sauce, each bite balanced sweet and salty in exactly the right proportions. My wife ordered the Australian Wagyu Flap Sirloin, a 12-ounce cut grilled over charcoal and served with house-made chimichurri. It was everything you hope Wagyu will be, deeply beefy, wonderfully tender, and rich without becoming overwhelming. The chimichurri added brightness without stealing the spotlight. Then came the dish that first caught my attention. The La Reina de la Casa, or "Queen of the House." At first glance, it almost feels designed for social media, a cheese pizza crowned with an enormous grilled octopus. I would be lying if I said that presentation didn't influence my order. Fortunately, this wasn't style over substance. The pizza itself stood on its own with a crisp crust and generous layer of bubbling cheese. The octopus, however, was the reason to order it. It was expertly grilled, tender without a hint of chewiness, and seasoned with a spice blend the server politely described as the chef's secret. Whatever was in that seasoning deserved to remain a secret, because it transformed an already well-cooked octopus into something memorable. Dessert brought things back to the classics with a crème brûlée. The sugar crust cracked cleanly beneath the spoon, revealing a silky vanilla custard underneath. Simple, elegant, and exactly the ending the meal needed. 1910 could have leaned heavily on flashy presentations and premium ingredients. Instead, it paired both with thoughtful execution. That's a far more difficult trick to pull off. Some restaurants earn attention because they're photogenic. The best ones earn repeat visits because the food is every bit as impressive as the photos.
