We rented the bigger cabin for more people to sleep in and it was roomy enough for 6. Phil and his wife, the owners are super cool. Very personable and helpful when it came to fishing tips.

They have a ton of lawn furniture in the garden area where you can enjoy the lake and the mountains but all the furniture was not well kept, there was rust and cobwebs from lack of attention. The view from the room was exceptional. That's the only thing we liked about the place. Save your money, go somewhere else.

For the activities such as chicken chat and goat gab we weren't able to attend; it was raining pretty heavily during our stay so we opted to stay indoors and enjoy the cozy cabin. For the moments where the rain would stop, it was nice to explore the land, making stops by the bunnies and chickens with our dogs. Definitely planing on coming back! My husband and I had a few animal sightings here, including a deer right outside our cottage! The facilities include a pool, a garden, a studio (which wasn't offering any classes due to COVID), archery, hiking trails, fire pits, and even a wood-fire oven you can use for cooking pizza! They also have bikes and water activities which were free to use. The hiking trails have vista points where you can meditate or catch a beautiful sunset or sunrise. There's something really peaceful about getting up super early in the morning to watch the sun rise and nature wake up along with it. Some things to note (from what I can remember): -No cooking meat or eggs on the grounds. -No pets allowed. -No drinking or smoking. I'm not really an outdoors person. I usually prefer to travel to places with more activities and sights to see, so we also explored the towns around the lake nearby besides just staying here the whole weekend. But I appreciated the nature and tranquility that Mandala Springs offered. It's perfect if you're looking for a short weekend getaway from city life.

Bob spoke to me prior to my checking in and helped reassure me when a small wildfire popped up. My perspective is that the water quality of the lake is key to the revitalization of the area. The smell and safety of the water a major deterrent for tourists, but I will say, if you have any questions, talk to the owner who is responsive and straightforward. It's just regular people from the Bay Area escaping the madness for a little while, reconnecting with family and friends and enjoying a beer (or two...) It is as enjoyable as you make it. While there is a pool for adults and kiddos, bocce ball, tennis court, bbq area, swings and playground, there are also porches on each cabin, which is a key ingredient for us.
