It was the only day I had off that week... and I was really looking forward to a day of relaxation and de-stressing. One was for a 1 hour massage session and one for a 1 hour total body stretch session. I've never tried the total body stretches before and had wanted to try it out to supplement the massage. My main focus that day was the massage. The day before the appointment, ME called and texted me to tell me that the therapist for the total body stretch session had an emergency come up. So the session I booked would need to be rescheduled/ it was canceled. I understand that emergencies happen, so I was chill about it and thanked them for informing me. My massage session was still confirmed, so I was okay. On the day of the massage, I leave the house for my 9am appointment. I'm already en-route when I see a text message from ME at 8:17am. My anxiety skyrocketed. The message notified me that the therapist for the massage had a last-minute medical emergency... I was super disappointed and stressed out, completely the opposite of my plans for that day. I conveyed this through my messages. And discussed what we could do and if there were other massage options. Being on the freeway, it wasn't really viable for me to turn around and go home. I decided to continue until I got to ME to speak with someone in person about what happened. Looking back now, I realize that at the time, I was selfish in worrying only about my own feelings. I hope both therapists are okay. This was the first time I've had my appointments canceled so suddenly in all the years I've been with ME. When I got to the ME around 8:50am, I spoke with Kainoa, the manager. I expressed my frustrations regarding what had happened with the cancellations and felt like I wasted my only day off planning everything. She listened to what I said and was very understanding. Then she offered me solutions. She let me try out complimentary sessions of the Red Light Therapy and Vibroacoustic Massage Treatment. Both of which I've never tried before and were such interesting and positive experiences! The Red Light Therapy uses different wavelengths of red light to go through different layers in the body. It's FDA cleared to temporarily reduce pain in the body and increase blood circulation. Allowing for faster tissue repair, faster recovery, lower blood pressure, and better heart health. It also increases neurotransmitters for a better mood. The machine they have is huge and covers the whole body. There is also a separate panel for the face that can be adjusted. Each side is about 20 minutes, and the machine has a timer that auto turns off when it's time to flip around to the other side. It's like basking in the warm sunshine. Feels like a nice toasty blanket wrapped all around you. I would definitely try this again! The Vibroacoustic Massage Treatment uses low-frequency sound waves around 30 to 120 Hz that are bounced off a chair into the body's cells. Allowing for deeper relaxation of the mind and body. There are headphones that coordinate with the music and sounds. The lights in the room also move and change. And an eye mask that can be put on to massage the temples. This helps with muscle tightness, spasms, fibromyalgia, blood pressure, stress, depression, anxiety, circulation, headaches, migraines, insomnia, asthma, COPD, hypertension, Parkinson's, and it also helps releases pain-relieving endorphins. It's a very relaxing experience, to the point that I almost fell asleep XD Kainoa coordinated to make it possible for me to get the massage I had planned for. I was super duper elated :D Kaui the regional massage therapy trainer did my massage. She is so skilled in massage therapy and the flow of the massage was perfect! She does lomi lomi massage and it was my first time having this type of massage. Very deep tissue. It was the best massage experience I've ever had with ME!!! I was so happy and relieved that everything worked out in the end. Thank you so much to the wonderful Kainoa, Kaui and the other helpful staff at ME Kaneohe! :D

It sounds sketchy, but I didn't know that Rachel had started a business and wasn't just some random person that gives massages. I drove up to this beautiful house (late and lost, but Rachel was so faithful to give me directions when I called frantic, and she showed grace to my tardiness). Beautiful doesn't quite satisfy the way this place looks, and once I stepped inside. Amazing. The title, Calm Studio Spa fits it well. The exterior and interior embody a very calming atmosphere. The single room studio has a perfectly placed, massage table, a chair for facial treatments, a couch for comfort, and perfectly placed shelves with various beauty products. And the spa part, well this business offers a full variety of massages (to include prenatal!), facial treatments and waxing services. Treatments are by appointments only, and currently Rachel (the masseuse) does evening appointments. She did an amazing job. I had a crazy kink in my neck, and I told her she had quite a challenge ahead of her. She accepted it and smoothed it out with her hybrid of lomi lomi, Swedish and deep tissue massage. This new business is definitely worth checking out, and I'm looking forward to seeing her again soon!

It's a busy building in the morning, so give yourself some time to make it to the elevators and head up to the 14th floor where you walk into a serene world immediately. The sight, smell, and sound of the spa immediately draws you in. After settling in, I had the most amazing Salt Facial at Honolulu Spa & Wellness with the owner. I do not get facials regularly because I tend to leave the salon with sensitive skin that's all blotchy and red from the chemicals that were used. But getting a Salt Facial is so much different! No chemicals were used and the results were amazing. The salt used is a natural antibacterial and antimicrobial agent so my skin was not irritated one bit in the process. I learned this is one of the few places offering this service, so definitely take advantage of them having this service. The procedure started by cleansing my face and neck first. Then the Salt Facial followed with her using a wand that used all natural sea salt resurfacing to prep my skin for the next stages. I thought it was going to hurt for some reason , but it didn't at all and just felt like a deep exfoliation. I then had an aesthetic ultrasound to nourish and increase circulation of my skin, which helped whatever she used to get deeper into my skin. The next step was where I could really feel the treatment doing its job, and that was the LED light therapy! I did that for a couple of minutes and could feel my skin getting its natural glow back. The last part of my experience here was a hydrating face mask that I didn't even know I needed. The whole process felt so fast but gave such great results. My skin feels brighter and tighter, especially around my under-eye and cheeks where I felt like my skin was sagging a bit. I could just feel my skin was softer and had reduced the bumpiness in some areas that were affected by acne in the past. All in all a great experience and a facial I recommend to anyone that wants a natural approach to getting one. I am sensitive to chemicals and often left waiting for results after a couple of days, but with the Salt Facial results were immediate. Try it for yourself and thank me later that you did!

We arrived before our appointment time and filled out their forms. We each had our own room/skin care specialist. The comfortable spa table is prepped with a little steamer to get your face ready for treatment. The HydraFacial machine was explained to me. She also stated that if the process felt uncomfortable, I could alert her to adjust the pressure. The procedure helped to clean, exfoliate, and remove impurities from my skin. She then applied a serum of antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid. The final application was sunscreen. While the untrained eye, probably couldn't SEE a difference after the HydraFacial, I could certainly FEEL the difference. Clean, fresh, and super rejuvenated! As a follow up, I came in for the Scultural Face Lift with Buccal Massage. This included lymphatic drainage (behind your ears) and microcirculation of my shoulders, neck, and jaw area. If you've never had a massage inside your mouth, try it! This helps to relax jaw muscles and many TMJ patients use this. Honey, you are worth it! Whether a special occasion or just because. They have many options in their menu of services. They also sell products to compliment all your skin care needs. God blessed you with the skin you're in, this is a great way to maintain it :)

But I finally decided to stop kidding myself and start taking better care of my skin. After a lot of searching and hesitation, I decided to give The Skin Source a try. I'm so glad I did! Alexandra was great! Everything from making the appointment to new client forms were done electronically, which I appreciate. She put me at ease, and explained everything involved in the facial. Her cozy space in the Aina Haina Professional Building (located in the same shopping center as Foodland, McDonalds, Pieology, etc.) was super easy to find and of course, has plenty of parking. After the treatment, my skin did have a nice glow, and I felt quite pampered. She offered a discount on a future treatment and recommended a skin care regimen, but was clear to say that there's no obligation. I'm definitely going to take her up on it. I owe it to my skin. Facial virgin no longer!
