Pick me up it did, these baked goods set the sweet treat Richter scale WELL above 8.0. One slice was big enough to split three ways. Did I keep it to myself? Now that would be telling... I highly recommend the German chocolate cupcake. Inside is smaller than the other location, but just the same, the glass case full of cupcakes (if you get there early enough!) invites you in and teases your tastebuds. There's a great variety to choose from, but I never get there early enough! They're not cheap, but they are absolutely delicious - you get your monies worth with the big cake slices if I'm honest. On the way out I noticed the writing on the wall, "money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you cupcakes and that's pretty much the same thing." I was greeted by baker that asked if I had any questions or new what I wanted. I explained to her that I just came in on a whim & was not sure yet. The baker went to the back of the house & told me to ring the bell when I was ready. I loved that so I could get take my pics & try to decide on what I wanted. I can be a bit wishy washy when it comes to picking desserts. There were a decent variety of cookies, cupcakes, ice cream, and you can order cakes for special events. Coffee, soda, and water are available. I chose the lemon gooey bar & German chocolate cake. The German chocolate cake is dense & delicious. The cake is very moist and the coconut pecan icing is tasty without being too sweet. The lemon gooey bar bar is a moist, tasty treat. I'll definitely come back for their different gooey bar flavors. Don't go to Scratch if you value a dollar. I went there to buy a dozen cupcakes to deliver to different members of my family. When I asked for 3 separate boxes, they said they could not honor the discounted price because I asked for 2 extra boxes. Strike 1 I went there a month later to order a small cake for my wife. Her birthday was 2 days away. Because they did not receive a 3 day notice, there was an extra charge for that, and it was a significant up charge. The cake was barely larger than a single cupcake. Strike 2 There cupcakes are good for about 2 days, after that, you're pretty much screwed. Strike 3. There are so many places better than this one. Do a 5 minute Facebook search. You'll get a better product and you'll save $$$ read more

Although this bakery's specialty is likely it's sweet confections, it's Café and sandwiches are no short of amazing. I honestly didn't expect much for the Turkey Pesto, but the panini pressed, mouthwatering, cheesy sandwich is definitely worth its price at around $8. The hot White Mocha Blackberry Latte was amazingly balanced in sweetness and perfectly foamed. My partner got the iced Red Velvet Latte, and although it was a tad-bit sweet for my taste, he claimed it to be the best latte he ever had and finished it in under 10 minutes, so if sweet drinks is your thing you may want to go for that! read more

One of my Instagram sister's once use to talk about this bakery alllll the time on social media. April was always doing little videos telling everyone to come down to Stracth Bakery. They got chicken pot pies, cupcakes, cakes, and so on.... One day... I was out in the Hampton area. And I was having a major sweet tooth. Lol! I'm supposed to be on a clean eating path. Stopped in for an ice cream on a sunny hot day. The shop was cool and offered free water. The ice cream counter is toward the back, and the staff greeted us and were very friendly as they took our order. The ice cream is hand dipped and was very good. I was introduced to this place at a recent Food Truck Festival in Yorktown, Va. It is in a perfect location and was so welcoming. Once taking the time to look around the decorations were well thought out with bright colors and different shapes. I could tell the community shows how much they like this establishment. This is in regards to the Phoebus location- We went at around 1:30 pm, it wasn't very busy at all, but we waited almost an hour for 2 grilled cheese sandwiches- one was the 3 cheese "Grown Up" grilled cheese- one slice of bread was done well; chewy, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside- the other slice was hard as a rock, seemed like it was the last slice of a stale loaf. My mom had the "BB Grilled cheese" and she enjoyed it, but again the wait time was ridiculous for a grilled sandwich. We had to ask twice for her coffee, and remind them we also asked for 2 bakery items to go. The waitress was pleasant and polite, but again, had to remind her about the coffee, and the togo desserts. I'm hoping the Bread Pudding and Lemon Gooey Bar are worth the visit, but we most likely won't go to this location again. read more
