Scratch bakery is one of my favorite places to grab a sweet treat! I haven't met any sweet treats from Scratch that I didn't love! The cake is moist and flavorful! The cashiers are kind and patient as you select your items. My favorites are the wedding cake and lemon blueberry cake! There is a nice area to enjoy your treat and there are games you can play. Overall, I recommend checking out Scratch bakery for some delicious sweet treats.

First time trying this place, I was hesitant because I thought they only served sweets but they serve so much more and it's fresh! There are tables in side, some with games. It gives a very laid back coffee shop vibe. There is also an outdoor area which is nice. The staff were super friendly. I had the chicken salad sandwich. it was phenomenal. It lasted me two meals. They are very reasonably priced. Sweet to savory, they have it all. Highly recommend. I'll go back for sure.

This was on my list of places I must go to in the neighborhood today to have brunch decided to stop in, was greeted immediately. The place is really cute the way it's decorated. I found to be very adorable. The neighborhood is very nice located in downtown. They happen to be plenty of parking today. Got to park right in front. The young lady, working at the counter was very knowledgeable. I asked her several questions she was able to answer all of them couldn't make up my mind on what order I ended up getting four cupcakes to take home. I felt that the cupcakes were a little pricey. Ordered the cookie dough, the banana pudding I believe it's the wedding cake. It's the almond cake with almond frosting and sweet potato which I'm thinking is a seasonal flavor. Tried a bite of each one when I got home wasn't overly impressed. The cake was very dry on all of the cupcakes on the cookie dough, cupcake. The frosting on the top had a lot of sugar granules that didn't mix well so it was very grainy. When I go back and give them another try, I would probably try a slice of cake. I don't know if I would order the cupcakes again. They have a few lunch items that I would like to try. So unfortunately, I have to say I wasn't overly impressed .

Really sad I came here on my birthday! Not gonna lie the cakes are awesome. I thought this would give the classic yellow cake chocolate icing vibe. I'm dissatisfied and disappointed. The cake was white with a lotttt of almond extract so I it didn't mesh well with the chocolate. It was super dense so it reminded me of a poundcake piece with chocolate icing. Is there a money back policy?

Scratch Bakery was recommended to me, so I brought in a picture of a cake that I liked and they were able to recreate it. The cake tasted great! My friends thought it was rich and good too.

When you first walk in the staff greet you with the Hardy as hello. They have the greatest customer service. The I'm yours was very comfortable and laid-back which is something that I like. The desserts were scrumptious. They had so many items. It was so hard to choose. They had ice cream, cupcakes and cakes. The cupcakes that I chose were very flavorful. The lemon cupcake was tangy and had the right amount of lemon. I also had a strawberry cupcake and it tasted just like I was biting into a sweet juicy strawberry. I absolutely loved each item. I also tried one of their most popular items. And I see why. That cake was absolutely moist and addicting. This is definitely a place that I would get into a lot of trouble visiting lol I enjoyed my visit and will be returning

I ate my cake so fast I forgot to take a picture of it! Service was good and the ambiance was cute (even if both of those things were terrible, I'd still give it 5 stars), My cake ( red velvet swirl pound cake) was the best cake I've ever tasted from a bakery! The flavors were decadent but not overpowered by sweetness. It wasn't overly moist nor too dry. This was literally the most perfect poundcake! I wish I would've bought more slices.

Scratch Bakery is probably the most cute and adorable bakery that I have visited. This was another gem that I stumbled upon while visiting my daughter at school. I have definitely fallen in love with this area. The service was welcoming. We were unsure of what to try but the young lady behind the counter was very patient and helpful. We decided to try a few different confectionery delights. Some of which included: Whoopie Pie, Pineapple Upside Down Cake slice, and a Strawberry Cake slice. All of which tasted homemade. I'll be sure to visit again.

This bakery has to be good! :-)

Very lovely bakery!! If you're on the Peninsula this is a wonderful dessert shop to partake in delectable confectionery delights! The cupcakes & cakes are moist & flavorful. I purchased the birthday cake & banana pudding cupcake & a huge slice of dirty wedding cake. The taste lives up to its namesake. The cake slices can feed 2 hungry people. If you're in a sharing mood & just need a small taste then you can quarter the cake slice & it's still sufficient. The icing is dense buttercream & when it's stored in the fridge it's stiffer, if you want to soften the icing just pop it in the microwave for a few seconds, problem solved. They have a massive dessert selection & they sell sandwiches, light food fare as well. Coffee lover? They got you & with fun flavors! It's a very welcoming shop & aesthetically pleasing. I felt extremely comfortable, the decor added to this! It's a great spot to relax & enjoy conversations over some stupendous sweets!

8 inch round strawberry cake w/ cream cheese frosting. $72.

Ordered a custom cake for my daughter's birthday. Really enjoyed the custom cake l ordered two years prior, and was excited to order another. Requested strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting ($10 upcharge), & basic decoration (pink frosting, lavender piping, 8 inch round cake), & the total came to just under $72, which was fine. I requested the following message: "Happy 8th birthday Daria", & made sure to spell it out. I picked up the cake on the day of my daughter's party, & the young lady at the counter couldn't find it. She went back and checked twice, & on the third time, she found it in a different spot. My daughter was with me at pickup, and for the minute or so between the second and third check, she was scared that they forgot to make her cake. Well, thankfully they found it. When the young lady showed us the cake, I was disappointed - the frosting was white, not pink as I requested. I wasn't informed that cream cheese frosting couldn't be tinted. Well the party was had, & the cake was delicious. However, after the party frenzy was over, I looked back at pictures, and realized my daughter's name was misspelled. For $72, I expected more attention to detail.

Super cute! We stopped in for a mid-day snack while visiting Phoebus for the day and we're not disappointed. Plenty of seating. Plenty of treats. Lots of food options like sandwiches, quiche, toast, salads and some sides like baked apples potato and pasta salad. The sweets and cake menu is loaded and they had some delicious looking boxed cakes and cupcakes and ice cream. We got a pimento grilled cheese and avocado toast with fresh fruit lemonade and chai latte for a light bite while we finished exploring the nearby shops. The avocado toast was a huge serving with two pieces of toast with tomato, onion, bacon, everything seasoning and an aioli drizzle. It was very good and a great portion for the $4.75 price. Now, that pimento grilled cheese sandwich was probably the best grilled cheese I've ever had in my life. A large serving of a buttered bread with a generous portion of cheese and pimento cheese with just a few jalapeños. Every bite was good and the bread was perfectly toasted. We all loved it and devoured it. I'd come back again and again just for this! A few folks got ice cream while we ate and one guy got a banana split on a cone that looked amazing. Another time! It's bright and cute inside with clean tables and a cute back patio to sit at as well. Plenty of parking street or on the back side of the store.

Great little bakery café nestled in a little old section of Hampton that must have been buzzing back in it's heyday! We stopped in on a cold Saturday afternoon, so we sat inside even though they had outdoor seating like a true café! They have a cute interior that's cozy and inviting. The exposed brick wall is reminiscent of the Tobacco Row section in Richmond. The decor is light and chic with whimsy! They offer and extensive menu of coffee and lattes and an exceptional selection of desserts!! The cakes were super-sized (so don't come here, if you're on a diet) otherwise forget the diet!! Definitely a quaint little gem hidden in the historic heart of Hampton!!!

Hands down one of the coolest coffee houses in Hampton Roads!…read more I would likely have never known this place existed without my coffee passport. It's tucked away on Fort Monroe - a little off the beaten path for me, but well with the visit. Google maps had me coming from the back side of the building but once you find your way around, there is ample parking and some outdoor seating for nice days. Like any converted firehouse the only windows are from the large roll-up doors. The inside is cozy with plenty of comfy seating. They offer free Wi-Fi and activities for little ones including lots of fire trucks to play with so this would be a nice spot for families. Already planning to bring my family in for a stop on the way to Williamsburg. Plenty of coffee and non-coffee options plus seasonal specials and tons of flavor choices, including sugar free. I opted for a sugar-free dark chocolate latte which was delicious - perfect level of sweetness and just the right temperature. I also ordered an egg and cheese sandwich on naan bread. They have multiple cheese and other bread options. The egg was a little over seasoned but flavor was good. Compared to the major chains and other independent coffee shops, prices here are reasonable. Overall a great visit with welcoming and helpful staff. Looking forward to a trip back!

This new ice cream shop in the Bethel area of Hampton is located in the old Dairy Queen Building…read more It has a similar menu, with a focus on deserts such as sundaes, cones, milkshakes, etc., but also on hotdogs, naming them after local high schools, locations in the city, and the originals, Chicago, New York, and Detroit-themed hotdogs. Now, this place has all outdoor seating, which makes it a really nice place to visit after dinner to have some ice cream. It is also good for lunch. It works by placing your order at one window and picking it up at the next. They buzz you to let you know when your order is ready. The service is pretty quick, especially with scoop ice cream orders. Hotdogs and other items take a little longer, but Because they are pre-made, it just takes a little bit to serve them up. The food is okay, but the ice cream is fantastic. The price is excellent, the service is good, and the overall experience is good. I recommend going by in the evening, sitting outside, and enjoying some ice cream. The view is not good, for the place is located on Big Bethel Road, but don't let that ruin your time. I'll be back.
