Whether it's cupcakes, cakes or cookies, we were satisfied with just about every item bought. It has been a minute since I've done a review, so it was time to see what they've been up to. I was the only customer inside when I walked in when one of the workers said 'Hey, where have you've been?' You know it's a great thing when staff knows who you are even if they don't know your name. At first, I was going to buy a Strawberry Cake bomb. But I saw they had Strawberry Shortcake with whipped topping. They've had it for months from what she told me. So, I decided to give it a try. The cake itself was really good. Moist, not too sweet and flavorful. Sophia used to make strawberry shortcake for years and liked this one. I actually gave her half of mine which she saved up for the next day and it was still delicious. Another win for Scratch Bakery. I know for sure I can rely on them for much needed treats. My family & I make stops to Scratch Bakery several times a month. This is my go to spot when I'm craving something sweet. There are lots of unique flavors to choose from & different dessert options. I've been a huge fan of the banana pudding, strawberry cheesecake cupcake, banana pudding cupcake, Oreo cupcake, and strawberry cake slice. The cake slices are HUGE & definitely worth the price. There have been times I've come in & the display case is nearly empty (not even close to closing time) & when I requested a few cupcakes the staff member looks bothered or annoyed that I've asked. The quality of the service can vary, but it is indeed quick. I've been to both locations and both are equally as good. Today was my second visit to scratch bakery in just a month. My daughters and I ventured out for the viral Dubai Chocolate and we were not disappointed!! We also ordered a 6 count of cupcakes. We devoured everything in the car! So we came back! Today's visit we tried more cupcakes, peach cobbler, banana pudding, chicken pot pie, a bread pudding and another Dubai chocolate bar. EVERYTHING was good! I love a bakery where everything is good! I wish we knew about them sooner because even though it's an hour away from me I always say I will travel for food! This is a place that hits it out of the park with both the flavor of the treats they make as well as the customer service! I walked in this past Friday afternoon at 4:30 pm and they still had every cupcake flavor available as well as lots of cake slices. I got the following cupcakes: Triple Strawberry Birthday Carrot cake Wedding All are extremely moist and just delicious! Can't go wrong! I bought two gooey bars to take home that were delicious. I also ordered a vanilla almond birthday cake for my adult daughter. I will pick it up next Wednesday afternoon to take to her on Thursday. I will report back how it is. My adult son lives red velvet cake so I ordered red velvet cupcakes for him. Again, I can review them next week. The lady who helped me was very nice and helpful. My family has been using Scratch for the past decade for birthdays, bridal showers, baby showers, and most recently, a wedding that sadly was a disaster--not to mention all of my recommendations and referrals. Attending this wedding were local council members, lawyers, doctors, business owners, engineers, and local teachers. In this review, I will keep everything factual regarding my wedding cake. I paid over $700 for my wedding cake and delivery, which was scheduled for 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM on my wedding day; however, the cake was not delivered until 6:50 PM, and sadly, nothing was rectified. The following events occurred on my wedding day (the wedding starts at 5:00 PM, and the cake cutting is at 7:30 PM): - At 1:00 PM, I was informed that the cake had not been delivered and that Scratch was unresponsive to phone calls. - At 3:00 PM, Scratch still had not returned the wedding planner's phone calls. - At 3:45 PM, the wedding planner asked if I had an alternate number to reach the bakery. At this time, I was in the midst of getting ready with my groomsmen, while the bride was preparing for the ceremony that began at 5:00 PM. - Around 4:30 PM, Scratch finally responded to the planner and stated that the cake was en route. - The cake arrived at 6:50 PM. - Upon delivery, the cake was still not properly prepared, and the wedding venue had to make corrections. During an event of such magnitude, issues with the cake can have a trickle-down effect on the photographer's schedule, cake cutting, the wedding planner's priorities, and more. The bride and groom, as well as the wedding planner, should not have to worry about cake delivery while getting ready for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and subsequent events on the schedule. Note: The owner blatantly lied during our phone interactions and emails. A source from within the bakery demonstrated integrity by stating that the bakery had a hiccup and FORGOT that our cake order was on the schedule. Prepping did not begin until after the delivery time. In emails, the owner displayed a lack of professionalism, accountability, and integrity. Please be aware if you decide to purchase a cake for a wedding day. The following statements are from the owner: - "Not having the cake at 10 o'clock did not delay or cause any loss or harm. As it turned out the 5-6 delivery time was actually the best time to receive the cake because it was not planned to be served until 8:30pm per your coordinator." - "At the end of the day everything went forward without a problem and we believe we fulfilled our obligation and did exactly what you paid us to do. Again we are sorry for the confusion." - "We have admitted that we did not deliver the cake at the original estimated time. But it was delivered at the most appropriate time. The time you chose was not based on your wedding or reception time. We don't guarantee a specific time of delivery we give an estimated time for deliver." - "When we spoke with your coordinator that superseded your preference." - "At this point we meet out obligation And you received Everything you paid for, no one from any company guarantees an exact delivery time. I'm not sure what there is to rectify? We trust your quest enjoyed the service we provided. Thank again for your business." The facts are that you are a bakery owner. You did not come in contact with the venue or planner until 4:30 PM. You do not "supersede" a contract, the wedding planner, or the bride and groom's schedule. If a wedding cake cutting ceremony is scheduled for 7:30 PM, that does not give you the authority to deliver at 6:50 PM because of your own preference. We are beyond outraged and disgusted by her dismissive and insulting response. The claim that she "met her obligation" is an attempt to avoid responsibility. She didn't meet her obligation; in fact, she failed to deliver on a basic professional expectation and then responded with arrogance rather than accountability. No couple should have to deal with this kind of unprofessional behavior, especially on their wedding day. We are appalled by the owner's complete lack of respect, care, and professionalism. We want to ensure others know about the treatment we've received, and we expect a formal apology and remedy for her actions. read more

We just wanted a '3rd Assistant Engineering' License cake for our QMED who recently passed his 3AE exam. Scratch charged $80 normally, but an extra $20 for the rush job on this masterpiece. Every time I have placed an order on Uber Eats, they cancel the order. They never have anything in stock it seems no matter the tone. Why bother with selecting anything through the online order apps when they never have it. I call and ask why my order is always cancelled and they act like they don't know why or what they did to make it cancel, you literally have to select cancel to cancel it. They are lazy. They can put other batches out but do not want to do the work. The only time I have ever been able to get an order from them, they sent me the wrong cupcakes as if that covers anything. I really do enjoy this company and the products are amazing however customer service has declined since February & the pricing is ridiculous. When she finally found the cake, the wording that was requested and design was not on the cake. In front of me, she wrote what is pictured. THEY REQUIRE 3 DAYS TO COMPLETE AN ORDER.... Cake for August 2021: I walked into the store July 29th and stated I would like to have a cake made. Without asking any questions, I was handed a card and was told to email what I wanted and a picture of the cake if I had it. ---- I took the card, sat in my car, and composed a detailed email on exactly what I wanted and what I wanted the cake to look like. I NEVER RECEIVED A PHONE CALL. ----On the 30th, I called the store inquiring about my email and was told someone will call me. I NEVER RECEIVED A PHONE CALL ----July 31, I called the store again to only find out my email was never read. I spent 20 minutes on the phone going back-and-forth explaining how I sent an email on the 29th and had been calling every since with no response. The young lady even told me that they would not have time to make my cake until I requested to speak to the manager. They quoted me $175 and because I needed that cake for August 2, I angrily paid. ----I ordered another 6 inch cake (chocolate flavored) and it was twice as small as the first cake I ordered. It was so weirdly shaped and I was embarrassed when I gifted it to someone. I had to start researching other businesses because that last experience was too much. My mom heard about the bakery from a TV show she watches. So she requested that she try something from her bakery. We ordered through doordash. We ordered a triple chocolate cake, pineapple upside down slice and a German cake slice. We had two other items in the order but they were out of them. The chocolate cake has good flavor! They were a little dry, but nothing major with that. The icing was the right amount for all slices. The pineapple upside down slice was really good! It was the perfect sweetness and not soggy. It was a fine bakery with good cupcakes. But I wish they had more to offer than just cakes and cupcakes. Some pie options would be nice, but good homemade bread would be fantastic, it's so hard to find on the Peninsula. Oh and maybe some NY crumb cake? I tried their coconut cupcake and I like that they didn't put it in a bag, but rather in a plastic container, specifically designed to hold a cupcake. Very cool idea! I'm glad they put toasted coconut on top, it gave the frosting that earthy flavor that helps counter the sweetness which sometimes can be a problem with cupcakes. Oh my, where has this place been my whole life? Stopped in after getting my second vax and decided I need a treat. Got a slice of coffee cake to eat in the car to hold me over for the trip home. There we devoured one of the best carrot cakes I've ever had. This one had a slice of cheesecake in the middle which, while intriguing, I'll try just the pure carrot cake next time. The Oreo cake didn't really have any "Oreo" flavor to it. It's basically a white/yellow cake with some Oreo crumbs in the batter, vanilla frosting that tastes like it's from a can, and some Oreo crumbles on top. Their Death By Chocolate cake is even worse, and is a disgrace to the name of the original Death By Chocolate pioneered at The Trellis. It's basic, bland, boxed chocolate cake mix with canned chocolate frosting. It might be the color of chocolate but it tasted flavorless. It was slightly dry as well. The only one even worth maybe a second bite was the confetti. It was moist, but still very reminiscent of the dollar store mixed that are off brand and barely pass for "cake" when made Save your money, buy a box of Betty Crocker, and make that. I want to scream at how tasty this bakery is. I first stumbled upon this during a quarantine sweet tooth phase and proceeded to order a bundled of cupcakes for my mom's birthday. We got these for a presentation at work. We got some "Girl Scout" cookie inspired cupcakes. They were absolutely gorgeous. I would give 3-4 stars but the cake itself was a little dry and the icing drizzle was gelatinous. She DRAWS the specifics and I ask her to give me a total for a 8" round 2 layer cake with specific decorations and I provide pictures from a previous cake - this SPECIFIC location had done years before. I understand stand that ingredients, labor, experience....INCREASES over the years but I was floored....BUT I LOVE their attention to detail and service, so you have to pay for what you want. I knew it was going to be a small group for this milestone birth - MY FATHER'S 95th - I was going to set a price range $120.00 max. Ms. J calls a manager to confirm the price....it is way over $150.00 close to $200.00 for me to get the same cake or close to the original I had years before. I appreciate the information so I have choices; so I with the same cake with an addition of a 3D pipe. We AGREED on the DRAWING she drew & I sent a picture to her cell phone to identify the details from the original cake. Please review the cakes: 90th and 95th....I will not us them again. I called the day before to verify that my cake would be ready by 10 AM. I arrived at 10:15am and the cake had not been completed. Ms. J says it will be completed in five minutes; I informed her from the details - it would take longer than 5 mins to complete. I offered to return after 12noon. I returned and was very disappointed. The 95th Birthday party started at 1:00pm and a manager called during the party to discuss the issue and said " and I signed for the cake...I informed her I DIDN'T sign or agree because I was NOT SATISFIED.
